    Prescription diet pills

Has anyone tried prescription diet pills or know anyone that has?
Just wondering how well they work in curbing the appetite.
Not looking for an easy weight loss plan, just gathering information.
    Thanks!

My sister in law is a nurse practitioner.  She got her mom (my mother in law) and herself some, and was going to get me some but I changed my mind.  I have taken lots of different diet pills and what I know I cant handle is when I feel like Im on speed, cracked out feeling, ya know. (best way I cant think to describe  it - no, never done crack, lol)

Anyway I talked to her about it and she said she felt really really energetic and had trouble sleeping a lot of the time.  But shes got 5 kids so this helped her throughout the day.  My mother in law said she didnt like them she felt too jittery.

These pills will most likely work for anyone (they did for her)... if you can handle that waaayyy too much caffiene feeling, personally, I cant.

My sister has had a weight problem all of her life.  She has been quite obese.  She has tried every diet pill available.  She is now, at 46 years old, dying of cancer that started in her stomach.  She believes it is because of the diet pills.  Proceed with caution.

You could check this link out...

It's information only.  I don't have any experience with diet pills, so it's all I can offer.  Sorry about your sister Billy.

I tried them years ago and found them to have the potential to be very addictive.  The ones I took made you feel like you could vacuum, dust and mop the floor, all at the same time [:D].  It was a great feeling...until it wore off.  Then I just felt cranky and tired, but had trouble sleeping.  I had no appetite whatsoever - but the cost was high.  For me - I wouldn't touch them again.

I think I'd be more comfortable trying something OTC like maybe the Slim Fast shakes 3 or 4 days a week or some Lean Cuisine dinners.  If they don't help, at least they can't do anything harmful. With medication, you just never know.  Even if it's prescribed, it can totally screw up your system.

OK...I'll come clean.  I smoked from when I was 18 until 33.  I could always eat whatever I wanted, just gorge myself, and not gain a pound.  When I quit, I gained 30 pounds in 6 months though my eating habits didn't change at all and still went to the gym 4 days a week.  I was embarrassed to ask my doctor and not over 25 BMI, so I ended up ordering phentermine online.  I lost the weight and was a cranky bitch for 3 months.  I had withdrawal symptoms when I quit (fainting, nauseous, vomiting) and had to wean myself off of them by periodically cutting the pill smaller over the course of two weeks.
I would NOT take them again.  They're unhealthy, addictive and mood altering.
Stinks though because now I have to go to the gym 2 hours a day/5 days a week to stay slim.  Getting older is no fun!!

I have never taken diet pills.  I'm always floored that it is ever prescribed to people. I mean, it's basically just speed (at least the forms I am familiar with).  And speed is bad news for several reasons.  Mood altering, addictive, bad for the heart, etc.

High price to pay to lose weight, I should think.....

Lean cusines are great!!! And they work!  Unless your like my husband and eat three at every meal time... I just tell him to go to McDonalds!

I am in the same boat as Leslie. I had too been thin all my life and a smoker.
4 years ago I stopped smoking and gained 30 lbs. I too have taken phentermine and yes it helps but when you stop taking it the weight comes right back on.
You have to learn to increase excersie and watch what we eat....

Now that is much easier said than done..... I can say it all day, but sticking to it for me is much harder.
