UPDATE - Sad day at work when you see dog abuse

Well I haven't had to witness something like this in awhile. I work for a telecommunciations company, on the road and in and out oh houses. Many of my co-workers know how I am about animals and it so happend this worker called me to this house today. This dog must live in this basement 90% of the time, there was dog poop everywhere, and the basement was just a mess. I always bring my digital camera incase I see a cool ;photo or I guess not so cool. I will share some pics. I did go to the local animal control explained the situation and the control officer I spoke to kind of knows me from past situations. He said the city of Providence doesn't have a law to just take the dog if they have all their shots and are fed, even if they live in a basement. He said they would have to give them a warning to clean it up, although he did tell me that he will find a way to take the dog after seeing the conditions and knowing they probably don't have the dog licensed and rabies. Anyways here are the pics...Brace yourself and Kiss your dog..

OMG, that poor pup.  That is just nasty.    It did make me run and hug and kiss my dogs.

I watch Animal Cops every time a new one is on.  But, I still can't believe this is going on right here in RI.  Sickening and ridiculous, why bother getting a dog only to do this??

That poor, sweet pup.  Thank you so much for trying to do something about it.

I have a neighbor that has two dogs at the end of a chain 24/7 365 days a year.  I know they are fed and have shelter and water (I watch) but no play, hugs or really any human contact other than the food and water being dropped off.  I feel guilty that they can see me playing with my dogs sometimes.  I wonder why the heck they even bother having them.  I'm lucky to have lots of land and they stay on our property but I had to train them and they are never out long with out me or the kids.  It just saddens me to the core to see them.  Don't know what I would do if I a came across a basement like the ones in these pictures and still  keep my job.

GREAT NEWS!!!! I just called the Providence animal control and they did pick up the puppy in this pic. The guy running the animal control actually called me back and said the dog is doing well. I know it wasn't letting us near it because she/he was so scared, seems like the puppy may have a chance to be adopted. The owners did call the animal control today and he told me this was the response given to the owners. "We will work with you to the bear minimum with all the fines they have now and the place would need to be cleaned up dramatically." There is a big health issue in that house and do you know the person actually was running a day care for kids out of this house. "OUCH" I doubt they will ;pay fines, clean the basement and so on, too much effort.
Anyways I am so excited, I'm going to checkin with animal control on Monday.

Wendy, you're a hero!  Thank you!!

good for you!!! I admire people who take action rather than wait for someone to hopefully do something.
Too many people sit back and hope someone else will do the dirty work...and the animal continues to suffer.

Annie - I plan on going down to the animal control Monday to check on the dog situation. When I'm there I am going to ask about the daycare and what will happen. I know the animal control is part of the Providence police division, so I am thinking they had to report her and the daycare. I'll post an update on both after Monday.

Wendy, wow, you have done a whole lot of people a favor here! Just getting the dog helped may help out a bunch of kids, too. Good on ya!!! [sm=clapping hands smiley.gif][sm=angel.gif][sm=wink2.gif]
