Crazy Cat

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I guess I just need some impartial opinions.

Our neighbors recently got a cat this summer. Well, as it turns out, this cat will NOT stay inside the house. It has busted through all of the screens in the windows and the doors just to escape to the outside. Subsequently, this cat has attacked (yes, drawn blood) from our other neighbor's dog and has chased after Charlie numerous times. He is constantly sitting on our lawn, on the walkway from our backyard to the front, and even tried to get in our front window. He sits there and stalks Charlie!!

He has left about 5 1/2 eaten mice on our lawn, plus two injured baby bunnies. Everytime I see him on our property I go to the neighbors house and they retrieve him, but he gets out about 10 minutes later and is back at his post.

While he is outside, it is really nerve racking. He won't run away even if I try to scare him. I am so afraid he is going to bite Charlie or me. Lord only knows what diseases he's picked up from all of animals he's killed.

My question is, am I overreacting? I want to call animal control and have them remove the cat, but I feel just awful because I know what will happen.

Any advice is appreciated!

Talk to the owners nicely and if they don't do something, threaten to call animal control. The cat should not be able to run free, either they keep the cat locked inside somehow or they tie it out. No reason for other animals to bother you or anyone else.

I would stroll over next door, with a bottle of wine and have a talk with the neighbor.

I definitely think you need to talk to your neighbor and if that doesn't work, call AC. It's a health risk for the cat and everyone else in the neighborhood.

Don't feel bad. It sounds like someone needs to take care of the cat, whether it be the owner or the authorities.

How about spraying the cat wiht a water hose? It won't hurt the kitty, but should get rid of him. Most cats HATE getting wet.

Thanks for the advice!!! I like the hose idea! I am not sure what kind of cat it is. It is maybe about 5 months old.

I have tried to talk to the neighbor before and she just says, "let me know when he is out and I will come get him". Which obviously, isn't working. I don't want to cause problems with them, but I can't stand it any longer.

Well, I spoke with the nieghbor this morning when I found another dead mouse on my lawn.

She indicated that they are bringing the cat to her brother's house more in country on Saturday. The last straw for her was when the cat carried in a dead bird into the house last night.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I stood ready with the hose this morning, but I guess I won't have to use it. [

Lol my first thought was "5 months old? My god I pity the neighborhood when he becomes a fully fledged TOM CAT!" (he needs a snip snip!)...lol

I'm glad he's moving...Tom Cat's with chips on their shoulders can be really hard to get ahold of to GET rid of them...even for thier owners!

I'd try talking with the neighbors again, ask if the cat is neutered. Maybe suggest having him neutered (they're easier to contain indoors).
If that doesn't work, I agree with the hose, just please don't use the jet setting. I'd leave the AC as a last resort.
