Here we go again, more prayers needed

Oh, Thank God!  I'm so glad your mom had no problems with the procedure and is feeling better.  Now it's your turn, Glenda- go get some rest!  [:)]

Not yet....I've no doubt I'll fall asleep the second I sit down tho.  I plan to be at the hospital at 8AM tommorow at the very latest....want to aim to leave here at 6:30 or 6:45 in case I have to deal with tourist traffic and so forth, but I want to BE at the hospital when her doc comes in.  The internist actually suggested today that perhaps she could go home "this evening or in the morning".  I looked him dead in the eye and told him that the cardiologist had said MAYBE tommorow, but they didn't want to rush things, and that quite frankly we'd ALL be more comfortable if they kept her right there until they were certain that THIS medication combo is actually going to work LONG term.  He asked MOTHER how she felt about that and she told him she was getting awfully tired of being in and out of the hospital and would just as soon be sure things were under control.  so THEN he suggested that perhaps she should just stay put and have the colon surgery done.  WTH?????  This woman has been through absolute hell-o since April...FOUR hospitalizations, the cath for the kidney, a pacemaker procedure and he wants the surgeon to cut her open NOW???????  SHE wants a few weeks to recover and feel human again first....so I feel the need to be there to talk with the surgeon, the cardiologist AND to be sure that the internist doesn't try to bully her at all.  Maybe Friday I can sleep past 5AM.....

I'm so glad that the surgery went well and your mother's feeling better. If it wasn't for the internist you could have gotten a decent night's sleep; I hope things go well when you talk to them tomorrow.

I'm glad that things are looking up Glenda.  I know how hard this type of thing can be (have gone through it with three grandparents), and my thoughts and prayers are with you guys.....I'm also glad her spirits seem to be lifting, that is SUCH an important part of recovery.

She's HOME!!  Whew!  She did great last nite and I got there before 8 this morning so I'd be sure to see the docs.  Saw the cardiologist, then the rep from the pacemaker company came in and hooked her up to a computer to check the activity of the pacemaker and the voltage output...PERFECT....BP was great still too.  Then the Nurse Practitioner, then the internist....strangely, today he wasn't so gung ho on pushing the colon surgery.  Says she needs to talk to that surgeon and go with his time table on this, but wasn't pushing.  I had actually given up on him coming in so went down to snag a cup of coffee and when I got back her roommate was all but sitting on the doc!  YES!  This gal is about my age, and was really a cool roomie for Mom....her heart periodically goes out of rythm and they have to shock her to get it back in sinus rythm.  So she had him engaged in a wierd conversation to hold him there for me!  Good girl!

I really truely believe that this poor woman, who has been through the wringer the last 4 months, needs at least a couple weeks to FEEL GOOD and healthy before she has to deal with recovering from an abdominal surgery.  And it's looking like NOW she can actually start to feel good again.  Thank God.  And thank you all for your good thots and prayers.

Great news, and what a relief for you.  I agree that some "feeling well" time would do her more good than anything else to prepare for a serious surgery.  Here's hoping that this is the start of some extended time feeling good for her!
