Im sick of my job, I need advice

Just this past weekend Ive realized, I am sick of my job. Im falling into depression again, and I have not felt this way in such a long time.

    Here are the cons:

1.) Im working 8 hours a day for 5.15 an hour, when I know that my job should pay me at least 7or8.

2.) Im getting paid bi weekly and because of my low salary im always broke

3.) Im doing the job of 4 or 5 people (Receptionist/Secretary, Graphic Artist, Accountant, etc.)

4.) I havent even been able to buy myself a car because i'd have to stop putting food on the table to be able to pay monthly for a car.

    Pro's

    1.) At least I have a job

**My boss is on his way to the office (hes is the parking lot now) and ive already decided that I am going to speak to him today. I am going to ask him for a raise and if he comes with another one of his lame excuses then I really think im going to tell him im leaving. I can do better.

Please wish me luck, I really dont want to leave my job, but I deserve a decent pay!

It's always good to have a job you enjoy. I find I do better in a job I like doing than one i do just because I need the money even if the job I enjoy pays less. I wish you luck, let us know what the outcome is.

Good luck, Julitza.  Hating your job is the pits - it can make you hate to even get up in the morning.  And it does sound like your boss is taking advantage of you.  You seem to be doing quite a lot of work for very little money.

He said no, that at the moment my salary raise is not a possibility [:(] that quite possibly in a month or so.

So what Im going to do is go find my high school diploma, take in all the paperwork to the job agency and see what comes my way [&:]

If I can get a better paying job then im gone.

But it would be nice to get a raise from this a$$hole, so I think i'll stick around for another paycheck.

I think i'll call in sick tomorow or Wednesday and get a certificate for the whole week [8|]

I know who that feels, you want to quit but you need the money, but you hate the job, but you know something better might happen... It gets so fustrating. I'm looking for a job right now also but can't seem to find one I'll enjoy, there are several out there but I just don't want to do that kind of work. I really do hope you find something better, it's so hard to do something you just don't want to do. I feel that way about some classes I have to take but at least thoes will be over in just a few months. I guess the best advice I can give is just hange in there and do what you need to to keep yourself going.

There isn't much good to be said for working for $5.15 an hour but one good thing about it is you can ALWAYS replace the job.  Quit.  Spend tomorrow looking for another job.  Start the new job on Wednesday.

believe it or not the federal gov't (USA) has set the min. wage at $5.15 per hour (for many years now). some states have opted to raise this amount, but not all.

Yeah, but $7.50 Canadian is like $1.25 US.  [:)]

Oh not any more Pal. American money is so cheap now. It keeps going this way and the Canadian dollar will be worth more. (Sticks out tongue at BJ)

It's one thing to have a job that you hate but it pays well, or to have a job that you love that doesn't pay well. But why have the worst of both worlds? Start looking! Quitting my crappy, underpaid office job three years ago was the best decision I ever made.

Lizzycollie Im sorry you feel that way about your job, it would really suck to have to do a job that doesnt appreciate the hard work of another.
But a person can only do to you what you allow.
i`d be looking for another job. I believe the lowest income here is 7.20 per hour
best of luck to you lizziecollie

ugg... as a vet tech I was making 5.25/hr before that I was making 6.50 as a lifeguard. I would love to make 7+ dollars but around here I can't find a place that even pays that much for a part time employee :( I wish the federal mimimum would be higher. I mostly just live off my student grant because it's almost not worth it to find a job and live with that kind of stress as a student.
