Decided to Foster a Dog in Need

Just wanted to let yall know that we have decided to foster a dog for a rescue organization. As you know I had talked about wanting to adopt another dog but the last one we had intrest in was adopted before we could get him. This dog is one of two that was posted here in idog in need of a home. We feel very lucky that the rescue is allowing us to help this pup have a better life. We will be driving to Tennesee tomorrow about 3hrs from us and picking the pup up to bring home.  Wish us luck and I am sure I may come upon some stuff that I will need advice about seeing that the breed of dog I have never really had as much personal exspierience with it's a pointer. Will post pics soon[:D]

Good for you Garrett!  Guard your heart tho, or that little one will be with you for good!

Oh, no way. He is super cute. I'd take Glenda's advice and guard your heart.

We have allready discussed that possibility between us and with the rescue. I told them that is one of the reasons I have always been a little hesitant because I'm not sure if I could give them up. So wish me luck........I'm just happy that I am saving him from going back to the pound and being put to sleep. Poor lil man[;)]

This is a pic of his brother who also needs a home. I almost agreed to take both than suddenly I came to my right mind. Don't think it wise to take on 2 puppies at once. Maybe one of yall can help him.[;)]

They're both adorable. How far of a drive is it for you?

The directions from mapquest say it will be about a 3hour drive[:D]

Look at that face! What a sweetie.

I predict you'll be a failed fosterer very soon, and Sasha and Samson will have a new brother. LOL! [;)]

That's the general consensus from everyone I have told that we are doing this[;)]

There is nothing wrong with failing foster 101 once or nine times... [sm=rofl.gif]

Good for you guys!! I'm glad your helping a kiddo in need! He looks like an adorable little guy! I kinda hope you *DO* keep him! :)

I know I couldn't foster or at the very least be soooo picky about who gets the dog (do you get to help in that process?) that they would tell me to go fly a kite. You guys are GREAT for doing this... can't wait for updates...

Depends on the rescue whether or not you get any input.  The first group of pups I had, they did NOTHING to place the pups and I finally rehomed two of the four myself.

The second group the rescue did an initial screening, but I got the final word.

And, this is why I have THREE failed fosters..........

Garrett, I'm so happy you're helping out this little guy.  He sure is adorable.  This is one time that failure is not all that bad.  Give him some hugs & lovin' from me.  We expect to see a ton of pictures of him & frequent updates.
