I feel like someone out of a tv show

You know on those tv shows, where people get hurt and then use frozen vegetables as ice? That's what i'm doing right now. We got in a car accident earlier (my mom, sister and I). We're all ok, because those safety features really do work. However, they also kick your butt a little. I've got a bag of frozen peas on my stomach, and another one on my knee with my foot proped up on Max's crate. I felt so bad for the dogs. We were supposed to be going out for a little bit to the store, and instead we got back 5 hours later.
So, everyone, wear your seatbelts, everytime (i'm still trying to convince my dad of this). Even if you're not going far. We were 2-3 minutes from being back home when this happened. We probably would have been pretty badly hurt had we not been using the seatbelts, because we were hit head on.

    Ohh crap!

ts gotta be the FULL MOON!!!

I was in a bad car wreck 9 years ago! The seat belt did extensive damage to my insides!!! I had to have shots in my belly in order to prevent them from rupturing! ((the shots didn't hurt either FYI))

Did you go to the ER???

From what they told me back then seat belts can cause damage to your lower intestines that can KILL you later!

Please check in with a doctor if you have not already!!!!

I hope all is well, I will light a candle for you, even though I don't know you, I always have emergency candles on hand.

Some have emergency candles for black outs I have them for healing.

    Will be thinking of you!!!!

    HUGS!

    Oh my god. Glad to hear you guys are all well and try to take it easy.  {{hugs}}

We all keep our seatbelts on here, but we are trying to work on my step mom. She doesn't like to use them and will wear her seat belt every now and then. I seen my share of nasty carwrecks in my family and we always where then in fear of what may happen to us if we didn't wear them.

Thank heavens you are alright Jen!

I'm so glad you are okay. If you start feeling weird go to the ER right away, for sure.

I always always wear a seatbelt. My boyfriend refuses to wear one. It really bugs me, but there's little I can do to make him wear one. [sm=sad.gif]

I'm so glad you're ok!  It's so scary, isn't it?  Just don't hesitate to see a doctor if you feel anything out of the ordinary.

We got into a car accident last Saturday on the way to a wedding.  We were fine and the car was OK (dented wing and bumper) but it took me ages to stop shaking.

I'm glad you are all OK!  My daughter was in an accident last week, and she said the only thing that saved her was the side airbags...the front ones didn't even go off.  Something to be said for new cars!  The car has 11K in damage...

Whew!  Sure am glad everyone is ok.  The others are right, don't hesitate to seek medical attention....often it takes a day or so for the aches and pains to show up.

I'll share a little story for those of you who have trouble convincing others to wear their seatbelts......

Many years ago, DH was on his way to work driving our Dodge Caravan.  DH NEVER wore a seatbelt, but for some reason, that day he put one on...maybe the nagging from the boys finally got through to him.....as he was driving down a little residential street, a Ford Escort ran a stop sign, hit him near the right rear tire well and ROLLED that big old van.  It skidded upside down for about 20 yards on that little rain gutter thing along the roof and then, miraculously, the tailgate popped open (remember the problem with the Caravan tailgates and the horrible danger they were??) and THAT propelled the van to roll back over on its tires.  He wasn't seriously hurt...a couple cracked ribs, some football sized bruising on his belly and a lot of pain, BUT, the police told me that the ONLY thing that had saved his life was the seatbelt.  They weren't the law in MS then so he wasn't trying to make a point......that little escort totally our van, but DH walked away from it.  THAT is why seatbelts are soooo important.

I'm so glad you are okay. We always wear ours. The only thing that bothers me is that my husband does not wear one when he is driving truck. He says it's more dangerous. I don't know if that is true. But I can imagine it being tough when you are bouncing around and having to move so much I would think the seat belt would be a pain.

I'm glad your only bumped and bruised...sending healing thoughts your way and kisses from Markie

We did go to the hospital, we just refused the ambulances. We don't like the hospital that they would have taken us to, so my dad picked us up and took us to the hospital we prefer. I think my insides are ok, because I got a cat scan and they said I was ok. I'm supposed to go to the doctor in a few days though, so i'll have to set that up later.
Also, the contrast for the Cat Scan is the second worst thing i've ever had. Only topped by Gluten Free waffles.

Well, it's clear your sense of humor (and hence your brain) are intact and functioning! [:D]

Glad you went the the hospital and glad you had your belts on.  In my one accident (me, black ice, an 85 Toyota Corolla and a concrete barrier) I am certain my seat belt saved me from much more critical injuries though I was surprised by bruises that showed up in my, how shall I say it, decolletage, a few days later!  Only goes to show me the force I would have hit the window and steering wheel with......

Take it easy and feel better soon - same for you mom and sis.

Glad you are okay, Jen.  I have been in 3 car accidents, none my fault, and the seat belt has saved my life.

My mother was killed in one of those accidents - she was wearing a seat belt.  We were broadsided on the driver's side (mom was driving) by a guy going about 50mph on a dirt road.  Many people have pointed out over the years that she died in spite of the seat belt, but had she not been wearing it, I don't think the results would have been any different.  That was in 1980, long before airbags, and in a Trans Am (low to the ground, not much room inside).  I think a lot has to do with where and how you are hit, the speed, etc.

The second accident I was in, I was a front seat passenger in the car.  We were stopped for a school bus and a guy who was late for work saw neither the bus nor the fact that we were stopped.  The guy  who rear-ended us was in a van was going over 60 mph.  This was in 1985 - again, no air bags.  I had the seat belt on and that's the only thing that prevented me from going through the windshield.  Yes, I had whiplash, but was very fortunate.

I lived with a family for a while who not only didn't use seat belts, they didn't even have them available in the van.  I remember a couple of times when the driver had to slam on the brakes and I went flying.  And the driver thought putting his arm out was going to stop me.

I'd much rather risk it with a seat belt.  Worn properly, it helps.

Glad you are okay Jen! Take it easy and snuggle up with Max.
