St. Bernards?

    St. Bernards?

I don't know much about them... our neighbors have 2 of them. One is full grown and the other is probably 8-9 months old. I've never really known a "mean" dog, but these two scare the bejesus out of me! They are constantly trying to get through the fence when we are out back whether my dogs are out there or not. They have broken several boards in the fence and the lady who owns them just keeps handing us new fence boards to put up. I've tried to talk to her, but all I get in return is "no English" I don't speak Spanish so I can't talk to her. I am growing some peppers and every time I go to pick them, check on them, the dogs lunge at the fence snapping and growling and scratching trying to get through the fence! Some of the nails on HER side of the fence are loose and I'm scared they are going to get through one of these days. What should I do? I hate to call animal control because they are mean and I'm sure they would be PTS if they took them away. But I can't deal with this anymore! I don't even like to take my daughter swimming in our own backyard anymore because of them! They both easily outweigh me, I am NOT a big person so they scare me to death!
    Any suggestions?

I would find a way to communicate with her to tell her how you feel, and find out if the dogs are mean. The way they are acting I would not be comfortable with. Maybe if you do call animal control you could just tell them you need someone to speak with the woman because she does not understand. Maybe they have someone who can speak to her. I'm sure they would not take the dogs away unless their was a real problem with neglect.

Learn spanish XD Actually you could probably go to a translation site and translate what you want to say into spanish and print it out to give to her explaining your problem. It would be rather broken, but it might be legible. Or you could call the police to send someone over who could translate, imo you need to get some diolouge going before you do anything else so you can say you tried.
Try to sweet talk the dog ("Oh, you are such a cute puppy! Thanks for saying hi") in a nice voice and see if that helps. I havn't much expriance with that sort of stuff and I have never even met a st. bernard, but that is what I would do.Other than that I suppose you could keep some pepper spray just in case and when they come to the fence tell them no in a loud voice and see if they will stop.

I can write Spanish passably well. If you'd PM something you'd like to say I can type it back to you and you can then take it with you...

Just let me know if that interests you....I am sure there may even be native speakers/fluent folks on the forum that have PERFECT writing skills in Spanish where mine's strictly High School level lol! But I'd be willing to give it a try!
