    Where to go

    Hey...
Well my Staffie isn't too great with other dogs... though we haven't had much experience yet... I want to find a place where she can run around outside, but be fenced.... (i adopted her and haven't had her outside without a lead yet)...
I may try a tennis court, but i'd love to find an empty dog park to play in...
    any other ideas...
i live in Northern VA if it helps for specifics....

    Hi Tim,
Welcome to the fun Bully world!!!!

I don't allow my guys to run off lead. Public places are sometimes tough depending on where you live in VA. As a responsible owner you'll want to carry a bag and paper towels with you to clean up. Completely fenced areas like ball fields are good at off peak hours. But be sure to walk the parimiter and check for holes in the fence or where an animal might have dug under the fence. I would hate for you to loose your girl.
I personally use the long training leads when I want my guys to go out and run. They come in various lengths [linkhttp://www.dog.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=320603+706&Cat]http://www.dog.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=320603+706&Cat[/link]=
I use the 30 & 50 ft ones. I like them because I can work on re-calls from a distance and the dogs can enjoy freedom but still be in my complete control should an animal or person come into our area I can real them is easily. I mainly use them at away dog shows when they are crated to burn off that pent up energy.

So where are you in VA, I lived there from 1992-1997

i would scout out baseball diamonds to see if they have any "no dogs" signs posted, sometimes they allow dogs there (obviously when no games are happening!) as long as you clean up after yourself. and they usually are fenced. same goes with some school playgrounds. there is a school down the street from me with a large grassy playground that just has a "clean up after your dog" sign and i occasionally see people with their dogs there - again, when there aren't children around, of course.
aside from dog parks, i'd say these are your best bet for a fenced area that isn't going to be loaded with dogs and people. but i would take a leash, etc along just in case you run into others, to be safe.
