Yesterday as Joey and I left our locat pet supplies store, a van pulled up with 1 mom, 1 little girl about 9, 1 little boy about 5, 1 boston terrier, and 1 boxer. I heard the kids tell mom "we've got them. We can get them." Well they didn't. A beach ball rolled out of the van as the kids tried to get the dogs out of the car. The girl with the boston terrier went running after the beach ball through the very busy parking lot without looking. Concerned for the girl's and the boston's saftey, I told the little girl to "wait here, I'll get the ball for you." As I went to go after the ball, the boston, who was not on a short lead, lunged at Joey, there leashes became entangled, which of course the little girl thought was funny until her boston became defensive and attacked Joey - the boston was tearing into my dog

Of course the bag of cat cans and other pet stuff I was holding fell all over the parking lot. The mother of the little girl came over and grabbed her boston's collar, which SLIPPED OVER THE DOGS HEAD. So the boston was running all over the busy parking lot, along with my cat cans, and a beach ball.
By this time one of the employees from the pet store came out to help. She caught the boston. But then the little boy with the boxer came over to "help." The boxer wasn't friendly either and lunged and growled at Joey. I had one hand holding my dogs leash, hanging my dog in the air over the boxer and one hand on the boxers leash holding it down away from my dog all while yelling "no, no no!"
The employee from the pet store once again saved the day by grabbing my dog and carrying him away, while another employee picked up my cat cans. Thankfully no blood or puncture wounds. The lady apologized and asked if Joey was okay. Then she said to her kids "what's wrong with you."
Just a good example of why you don't let your unexperienced children walk your untrained dogs in busy places.
Funny part is that I was still thinking about the beach ball after all of this. I must have looked so clumbsy in front of my client.
