You missed the Am Staffs? Noooooooooo!

Didn't see any, not a single one.  I also didn't see any Canaan dogs, and I noticed the Labrador Retriever, Curly Coated Retriever, NS Duck Tolling Retriever missing from their group even though I saw them showing earlier.

Great Pics!!! My favorites were the sibes and the ibizan hounds.

Were there not any small breed dogs there? I really hoped I could see a bichon in its full fluffball coat!!lol[:D]

Yes, but the toys and terriers were shown indoors which was far from the rings I was interested in (hounds, herding, and working).   I didn't see many toys b/c I think a lot showed early and probably left right away if they didn't win, since it was the last day of the show.

Yup, toys and terriers were all judged in doors.  The Scottish Deerhound took the Group on Sunday and the Irish Wolfhound took it Monday.... The malamute lady who won the group on Monday is the same on who won Bred By Best in Show winner at Eukanuba a year or so ago.

I think it is kind of cool that for the breed there were 3 of 4 judges who breed belgians themselves.  In addition to those three, there were two group judges who breed belgians...one of them essentially the grandam.

Yeah, even my hubby recognized her, so that was cool for him, seeing a "famous" (in his eyes) dog person.  I was rooting for her b/c 1) I love mals and 2) I like cheering on the people who breed, own, and handle their dogs like when she won Best in Show at that big show.  It seems conformation can get really political and I'm just not that type of person.  Honestly, when it gets down to best in group and best in show, they ALL look amazing to me so I just cheer on my personal favorites. BTW  I was the one in the hat with the belgian malinois bitch who you spoke to about when and where belgian judging would occur.  I should have asked if we might be cyber acquaintances.

I went through all your pics this morning.  That was fun, I felt like I was there!  Thanks for sharing.  I had no idea Sibes could look that soft and clean!

Haha, no way!!  I sort of wondered after the fact if that might have been you, considering there weren't that many different people showing mals.  I should have realized it was a pretty likely chance.  My husband will talk to any stranger or ask anything.  He wanted to know which ring it was so he would lay down and go to sleep, lol (he works in safety and had a double shift).  Then we ended up moving again b/c we were originally sitting at the corner and the judge was having the dogs go out and back diagonally, so I moved us after a few of the dogs were making a lot of eye contact, coming straight for us.  One of the Groenendaals even looked at Phil and made a whiney grunting noise even after I told him to stay quiet and not look them in the eyes.

i have a question (xeph, mrv?); i'm obviously not a show dog person, but that last GSD looked awfully cow hocked to me...is this what the show dogs are supposed to look like???

Hopefully Xeph can tell.  In the pics of the GSD with the judge and handler, they were having a lot of trouble getting it to stand right and stand still.  It was really hyper and kept lunging out of place.  I think they took 6 pics and maybe got one good one.

OK I just read some posts on a GSD database forum and they said it's quite common in showlines these days and while not desirable, it's not as bad a fault as other things.

Maybe this is why that dog did not place in the group ring.
