On the "how cold is it" thread...

these guys think it's pretty cold in the house at night.  Shadow, the all black dog with white patch, doesn't usually come up on the bed when I invite them up, but the last two nights, she has.  This is what my BF found upon coming to bed....

Oh how cute! Looks like your BF had a little corner at the foot of the bed to squeeze onto!

OH FUNNY STUFF... they have the look on their faces like: "and where are YOU sleeping?"!  PHAAAH!

    What, no Pepper?
    [:D]

He who hesitates loses out on bed space!

Pepper prefers to steal the comfy doggie beds at the foot of the bed, when the others jump on the bed.  She gets the prime real estate for when the others get kicked off.  ;)  Last night, it was BF waking up in the middle of the night to kick Shadow off because she wouldn't budge.  The previous night, it was me.  lol...

    Oh, that's heaven!  :o)

I love the looks on Tasha and Shadow's faces like, "What? Is there some kind of issue here? I don't see a problem."

Marlowe typically sleeps wherever he winds up landing at 8 PM (he's the heaviest sleeping dog I've ever met) and that's good because the few times I have let him in bed with me it has been a serious struggle getting him to wake up enough to get off and go somewhere else.

How cute.  You look warm! [:D

I've been trying so hard save money and am keeping my house at a chilly 65 degrees.  I have the dogs curl up around me, just like in your picture, to keep me warm so I don't have to turn the heat up.

ooh, 65 would be too cold for me.  We keep it at 69 and I usually have a sweatshirt on or if we're watching TV, I have a blanket and dogs around me.  :D  That's exactly why I invite the dogs up when I got to bed, to help keep me warm!!  BF puts off a lot of heat so when he comes to bed, I don't need the dogs anymore.  [:D]

Ooh, that looks so comfy and warm! When I was staying with a good friend of mine, I would let her Newfoundland sleep with me in the chilly evenings. Talk about a great bed warmer. Only problem was, it was a twin sized bed, so there was not a lot of room for either the dog or I! [:)] Your dogs are just gorgeous!

That's just what I was thinking! So funny! [:D]

Yeah, we keep our house between 60 and 65 F. Gas is TOO expensive. However, the family room is always cosy thanks to Napoleon. I believe some of you may have met Napoleon already, but in case you haven't...

Napoleon moved in two winters ago. He and "cord" are partners in the mission to keep us all warm.

ooh Matthews, that looks lovely.  We have a fireplace, but it leaks and when you open the flew, all the hot air goes up and out.  What you have though, is quite a bit different, IMO.  :)

We had just the same situation until the beginning of last winter--I spent pretty much all my bonus money after our gas company said that prices were going to double.  I found out how much wood would cost me each year, did the math and figured out that the insert would pay for itself in 2.5 seasons.  A no-brainer decision.
