    Shameless and wild

I couldn't resist posting this pic again. It is so cool and that's why I chose it for my new avatar.

LOVE IT.  looks as if he is saying..."Don't EVEN think about it"

Shadow's a big hunk o puppy love. But, if a ne'erdowell or a burglar was walking up to the house and saw him standing there like that, they might think twice. Especially if Shadow lets loose with one of those barks that seem to resonate everywhere and a sub-gutteral that vibrates your bones. Then a no-goodnik would think, "hmm, I think I'll just go to the next block. Keep on walkin'..."

Also, and I don't know if it's a cominbation of me having a newer used computer and the new asp format of the forum, but even my cheapie digital shots are looking better. I like in the pic that I posted you can also see the color variation in his coat.

I agree. I don't think I've seen such a clear photo of him. I definitely see the husky in him, now. It's very clear that he's a  good part husky. Handsome guy:)

    Those eyes are so striking.

The same old cheapie digital camera. I think the new asp format of this forum is providing better pic resolution.

Recently, when I was hunting around for tips on how to locate the breeder listed on his purchase papers, I sent pics to a lab breeder in Mabank, Tx. That breeder was able to estimate that Shadow was at least 50 percent to maybe 80 percent husky. That kind of fits with my calculation based on what I've learned about canid mtDNA and nDNA, thanks to discussions at i-dog. Near as I can figure, momma was a brown, red, and white Siberian Husky and daddy was a lab or lab/husky. Technically, by mtDNA, he is a husky with lab/husky features.

Yes, they are. Wolf eyes are often yellow or amber. He is not a wolf. Sibes can have blue eyes, brown eyes, or one of each, and parti-colored. But the effect of amber from lab heritage, controlled in shade by mtDNA from the mother results in iridescent amber. Hence, the wolf-eye look.
