Well, the sad thing about BCs is that genetically they fall apart rapidly once you take the "work" out of the breeding. It's a delicate balance that holds them together. Not that they are an unsound breed - quite the opposite. But that soundness comes from very focused breeding practices - the extremes that make up the BC don't mix well if they aren't carefully balanced in each generation. They have super lax hips, for instance, to allow for a high degree of flexibility. But they combine that with very sound joints and super strong connective tissue and muscles out the woo ha. But if a malformity slips through you can go from "excellent" to horrible in just one generation.
Gizmo has to be related to Trim - and to my Rocky. The BC world is an awfully small one and family lines are so strong. Check out the pics of Rocky and see whether you don't see the resemblance! Here's a pic of Trim - she's rough coated and tri so it may be hard to tell, but her mother was speckley, bi colored, and split faced like Gizmo.
Head shot - kind of a weird angle but the only one I've got
And a typical one of her and her daddy dearest, who was largely responsible for her lovely temperament:
