Photography buffs, help me out

How do you do those pictures where the background is perfectly white around the dog?

Do you have Photoshop or a similar photo-editing program?

If so, there would be a command where you can outline the dog with a dotted line (requires a steady hand and patience!). You then separate the dog from the background and put the dog on whatever background you like.

Unfortunately the program isn't cheap if you don't already have it.

I believe you can download photoshop for free for 30 days..however ive not so i dont know if you get full features with the trial

I have a few programs like that that came with my graphic's tablet... I'll play around with it.

I love doing this! It helps if you have a picture of your dog with a light background, like lying on a white rug or whatever. That way you won't get a dark line around the edges of the dog's picture. First I up the brightness level on the picture which bleaches out the background even more (it'll bleach the dog out too but you can fix that later). Then I take the eraser (round, blurry edge setting) and erase around the edges of the dog, and then the rest of the background as well. Then I darken the image again to bring the dog's colors back. Sometimes it's fun to take the blur tool and just blur the back of the dog a little to give it some more depth. [

] I use Paint Shop Pro, which is similar, if not almost identical to Photoshop. I would think you can probably do it in other programs as well, all I really do (simply put) is adjust the brightness/contrast and erase, which most photoediting programs have.

Nah, Adobe's Photoshop has the Magnetic Lasso Tool that quickly grabs the outside of an image within a picture. It takes seconds. I purchased the whole suite for about $350, the educational version. You do need training. I mostly use Adobe In-design for creating poster. The good thing about Adobe is that all their products are integrated.
