• Federica Posted : 8/17/2006 10:11:58 AM Frankly speaking this photo makes me sad...when dogs are so big, they have so many health problems that i wonder why men had to create such breeds. I don't want to be offensive to those who owns giant dogs, I had a great dane (so I know what it means to fall in love with those huge creatures!) and at age of 8 he looked so old , weak and full of diseases that I promised to myself: never a big dog just because it looks gorgeous...it's better a less "fashionable" but stronger one. 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. Big dogs have their own specific problems and if your Dane was sickly and old at 8 weeks maybe he didn#%92t come from a reputable breer. • Federica Posted : 8/17/2006 10:26:17 AM he was not 8 weeks but 8 years...and at that age all great danes look terribly old (the breeder was serious and respectable) There's nothing wrong choosing big dogs...but still searching for extremes: small or big, going far from the origin, often leads to more problems.
