Glenda, I'm sorry you've been dealing with such a mess with a roof leak and less-than-cooperative landlord.  Definitely sounds like a good idea to change residences.  Have you found a new place already, or are you just packing so you can be ready to move on as soon as you find something suitable?

    • Gold Top Dog

Tracy, yes, we've got a place.  It's just discouraging when you take good care of a home and then get kicked to the curb because someone decides to make a quick buck....and save some $$ on repairs in the process.  But, my body hurts just thinking about what's to come!

    • Gold Top Dog

That really stinks, Glenda.  It feels like you all had just moved in a few months ago.  I know it was probably longer, but time just seems to be zooming past so it doesn't feel like its been that long.  I hope this next place can be the last one for a long while.

Glenda, I'm just catching up--still can't see anything but the first page of a thread, so I have to find and then read each page individually. How are you? When are you moving? Yikes--that just doesn't sound fun at all!!

It's windy here tonight--the ferry almost didn't run, but it did (rough ride), so I just had a wonderful corned beef dinner with my Mom. My Dad was hospitalized last week and is now in rehab. I'm not sure he'll be able to come home; we'll cross that bridge soon, but not today.

Bugsy, we’re thinking of you! Maybe I’ll get to surprise you with a visit in April!

The “raft” image is perfect—the “contact” page is empty (tried to notify someone of the challenges I was having), and I guessed the “staff” were gone. Frustrating!

    Hope everyone is doing OK!

We've been getting rain so had to add three more buckets and relocate the TV today.  Oh well, less than two weeks until we're outta here, so I'll survive.

The official move date is the 28th.  Will likely get over there mid-week next week to do some cleaning and put some kitchen stuff away.  DS FINALLY has a job!!!!  He starts on the 23rd for a very large coming doing tech stuff.  We had planned to move on the 30th, but the job changes that, but I'm so thrilled he has a job, I couldn't care less, and it lessens the chances of us being flooded out!

Kate, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad.  I know what a tough thing to deal with you've got.

We had the dubious honor of receiving the strongest wind gusts in the viewing area for the Albany TV station.....56 mph gusts!  Yikes!!  No wonder my huge and very heavy gas grill blew over and half way across the deck!  Heard this gawd awful crash outside, glanced out the kitchen window and my grill wasn't where I'd left it.

Despite the wind, the squirrels managed to stay upright while eating everything in sight!  Gonna miss those guys.  But, I'll leave them tons of food and plenty of pb balls.

The joys of moving.  I used to be in retail management, which meant a move every few years.  Don't miss that a bit.  Lots of stuff never got unpacked-which makes you wonder why you still have it.  When we got out of the corporate world and had to move our selves, lots of stuff went away.  Now, we have been in this house for 17 years.  Every nook and cranny is filled.  3 bedroom house, basement, attached garage, and we are running out of space.  We do not have stacks of newspapers in the living room, and you don't have to plan how to get from room to room, but we might be close.  I point out stuff my wife has that we don't need, but apparently I am mistaken.

4 more payments and the house is paid for.  Then, the assessments get paid off.  And our little govt has decided to inspect every bodies drain system to be sure we are not pumping rain water into the sanitary system.  I don't know.  We have no pump-we are on a hillside and thanks to the walk out, may be able to argue we are built at ground level.

If not, we get to have a legal drain system installed.

The squirrels will endure.  We have a stable population.  The nearest walnut tree is blocks away, but they still plant walnuts around our yard.

I can't see any posts except those on the first page. If  there's a way to see the rest, it's beyond me.

Just letting everyone here know that we're hanging in there. Charles is feeling pretty low right now but hopefully in another month some of the side effects will start to wear off and he'll be feeling better.

The wildflowers are going to be spectacular here this year. Bluebonnets are starting to bloom and many others.

Hope everyone  here is doing ok.

It just started snowing.  Only about a month and a half of Possible Snow Season left.  Uff da!!!

Jackie, if you click on "Non Dog Related" in the small blue menu bar just above the thread, you'll end up at the linear version of the section. This thread is most recent and at the top. In the right column, next to the title of the thread, you can see the page numbers. Click on the page number you want to see and it will come up. Unfortunately it will only take you to that page, it doesn't open up all pages to scroll through, so if you want to see another page, you have to do this all over again. Thanks to Steph for explaining it in a previous thread or I wouldn't have figured it out either.

Doug, great photos of Sky. He's handsome and looks so happy. Sure is growing up.

Two of my co-workers have been suffering from colds, and now I think I'm coming down with one.  Indifferent

Hey everyone, hello!  I still visit, but don't post.  I don't often on FB either, so that's nothing new.  Buffy is fine and enjoying the beautiful Spring weather we've been having.  Spends a good portion of the day outside watching the world go by.  Hopefully the grass will start to grow soon, and she won't get so dirty!

Regarding reading pages after the first one, I accidentally discovered on my PC that if you keep scrolling past the green field picture at the bottom of the first page, it automatically turns over to page 2!  It works on my desk top, but I haven't tried that on anything else.  Hope that helps someone!

Good to see you, Marty.  I just tried the scrolling trick on my work PC, but no luck.  I'll try it at home later.

Tina, I'm surrounded by sick people, too -- 2 at work, a neighbor, and a friend.  I'm heading out of town on Monday, and I will be very angry if I get sick before then.

Great photos, Doug.  As for the over-flowing house, you know that old bit by George Carlin:  you can get a bigger house, but then you'll just get more stuff.  I often wonder how  we moved out here 20+ years ago with everything in a pick-up truck, and now we have filled a 3 bedroom house (without any children to help!).  I try to keep things relatively purged and orderly, but it's a tough battle.

Kate, I'm so sorry to hear that your Dad's health has taken a turn.  I'm sure it's very hard for all of you.  I hope things settle down as comfortably as possible for everyone, but it sounds like there may be some uncertainty for a while.

Jackie, iDog vibes are in a continual stream out to you and Charles, as you know!

    • Gold Top Dog

Scrolling trick won't work for me either Marty. I just can't scroll any further. Maybe it makes a difference which browser you are using. I'm using Firefox.

Jackie hope you were able to figure out how to get to where you can find the page numbers. Continued healing vibes from NY

Doug, I'm in the trying to get rid of things stage but seem to save much more than what I send to trash or recyclables. It seems to end up being more of a sorting and organizing thing than tossing away thing.

Hope your body fights off the cold for you Tina and Tracy I hope you don't catch anything before your trip.

I have a very lucky sister-in-law, husbands brother's wife. She won 5 million on a $10 scratch off. They chose to take the lump sum, rather than the weekly payments, and I think the final amount was 2.7 million or something around that amount. Guess you can't win if you don't play and I don't think I've ever bought a scratch off or any lottery tickets.

Stuff.  It never seems to end.  Packing it up is a good opportunity to cull through things, but there are still things that you just can't let go......so it ends up going into a box and being saved for heaven knows what.

I'm getting weary of living in box world.  One more week.

Hope both Tina and Tracy can get/stay healthy.

Healing vibes still heading your way, Jackie and Charles,.

Happy Spring all,  I know some still have snow but  warmer weather is just around the corner.

Jackie I cant believe Gabby is 5 already.  I am so glad Charles is thru with his treatments, hope he is feeling better everyday.  My co-worker was about a month ahead of Charles her check up yesterday was good.   She still has a way to go but is thrilled about the hair coming back too.

It is so hard on the body to go thru but like you said no other option.

Doug are there updates on the kitchen?  Looks awesome so far.

Well the boys are back and wanting in for their breakfast treats...   have a good weekend all.

Kitchen update-be sure your contract as a due by date.  he is doing nice work, but slowly.  We had this idea that he would build it all, then put it in in one day.  Not what is happening.  Sink and appliances are in, but no doors or shelves yet.   Half of the drawers  are in.  It shouldn't be much longer now.

Had Sky to the lower river side WMA today.  He wants to play with the geese.   Yesterday, he jumped/flushed a dozen in a field and is very proud of that.  Today, the cold water stopped him.  The water is cold and clear, but the bottom smells like a swamp should.  He did enjoy his bath.  Black from the chest hairs down.

Don't believe the TV shows that show every project started and completed in half an hour.  Three hours to install the new vent hood.  4 or 5 trips up to the attic to shave wood so the pipe would fit right.  Going from 10 inch to 7 inch, you would think the new pipe would just slide in, but the original hood had a hand made reducing offset adapter, square to round, to fit around a 2X4.  I had to split the 2x4 and cut a circle into another.  One of those times when the wife is better off just leaving the house for a while.
