    New week-old weather 01/13/15

Started Skys' Obedience class last night-just an organizational meeting.  Same instructors and room where we started Gunther about a year ago.  It hit me hard for a bit.  Thought I was past that.

Sky has a series of tricks that he runs through for treats.  Sit-down-up-stay-wave goodbye.  Then he get s the treat.  Very food driven.  For "down", he bounces his chest off the floor.  For "up", he launches at your hand.  I hope he has matured enough for some focus-oh, look, a squirrel, but he seems easily distracted yet.  We will see. It looks to be a large class, but weather and work tend to make these classes shrink.  Some don't want to put in the time, and prefer complaining about their dogs behavior.

Sunny day.  Colder than Niflheim.  Finding air leaks around the doors now.

Slaving away here at work. TGIFO, as in thank doG it's five o'clock.

Hope everyone is well and staying warm.

Local gas price is $1.89  That and coupons at grocery store are going to make my truck affordable again.

Spring is here apparently.  Wife walked the dog with me yesterday.  We spent over an hour in the big WMA by the river. Sunny sky, warm air, little snow.  Dog was running free like a lunatic.  Busting through the grass and brush, hurdling fallen trees.  He climbed a big hill and stood looking down a 50ft cliff at us.  Big Bald Eagle cutting circles in the sky.  Big enough that I kept junior in close until the bird drifted off.

Got Sky a fresh bone.  He appears to love the sound of it hitting the wood floor-preferably as near to my foot as he can get.

May have to wake wife up before lunch time today.  Her volunteer day at the re-store.  I think I'll work the table saw a bit.  I am trying to make a perfect round top box.  Got a nice piece of maple with some figuring in it.  Maybe the third  time is the charm.

Doug, I just sent you a link on cigar box guitars -- I thot it might give you a chuckle.  My husband is having a blast.

psst -- don't say it out loud but it is *not* supposed to rain tomorrow in Central Florida!  YAY -- we are soggy enough thanks!   It's been a mega allergy year -- mold, mildew, pollen -- oh yeah.  I can go outside as long as I don't inhale LOL.

Yuck, yuck and double yuck!  I absolutely am NOT impressed by this weather.  Been bitter cold all week....yesterday warmed up a bit...all the way into the 20's....and it looked like today was going to be sunny and nice.  Wrong.  Clouded up in the blink of an eye and is snowing yet again.  Below zero temps again tonite.  Crying

Yet, despite all this, the allergens are still driving me absolutely nuts!  Go figure.

Speaking of allergens....Theo is chewing himself again, so off to give him a soothing bath.

Hope everyone stays warm and dry!

Has anyone heard from Jackie lately?

Out to the WMA again this morning.  Sky sees me putting on the boots and heads for the garage door.  Just a little excited.  He started out with a couple of wide full speed loops, then slows down to a dead run for a bit.  Every once and a while, a shaggy head pops up to see where I am.  I have an electric collar that beeps and/or vibrates.  Beep twice and he's on his way back to me.  He is really biddable, but reacts to a whistle or beep better than voice.  He was on one long high speed dash down a deer trail and I was going to tickle his chin a bit, but walked over to the trail and saw a line of fresh pheasant tracks, so maybe he was chasing the bird.  Couple of tosses with the Dokken dummy and we called it a day.  He's curled up behind me right now, so it worked.

Warm and somewhat sunny in MN.  Roads are clear and dry.

Callie:  Thanks for the references.  I'll look into them.    Could be fun.

In the single digits here this a.m. Brrr. Feel so bad for the dogs having to go out in this to do their duty. There are times when one sniff of the cold air and "nope not going out there" Too many times of them asking to go out and then refusing, then it is time for me to put on my coat and boots and go out with them. Only then will they go out. Brats Smile

Day one of prednisone. Hope it does the trick. Have had what appears to be hives for the last week and a half to two weeks. Man does it itch. One of the suggestions I found was to cut your nails so you won't dig yourself raw. Really, that's all they are going to tell me. Been kind of reluctant to go to the doctors, as I didn't want to end up picking up some bug that might land me in the hospital with bad asthma and pneumonia. The itching finally won out and knew I had to get started on prednisone. Learned something I didn't know about the prednisone. If you only take it for a week you don't have to be weaned off of it and so I'm on the same daily amount for the 7 days.

    Stay warm everyone.

Owie!!  You might get some relief from calimin lotion, or even a baking soda paste.  And, fair warning, any time that I have to take prednizone I eat like a horse!  Hope this does the trick though, and you can get rid of the danged things!

Very cold here too.  Have been tempted to check, but considering that it was -2 last night without the windchill, I think "cold" or danged cold is enough to know today!

Sky had a moment of trauma.  He was attacked by our dishwasher.  He was trying to greet it in a nice civilized fashion with his nose well into it, when it grabbed his collar and tried to hold him down.  When he pulled away from it, the lower rack chased him, fell on the floor and made a horrible sound.  Followed by wife making a horrible sound, then laughing.  Dog was peeking around the corner when I got there to see what happened, hoping the washer wouldn't attack again.  He may have learned a lesson.

oh my GOSH!!  I literally almost fell off my chair I was laughing so hard!!

Sky, sweetie, ya gotta give those kitchen appliances a VERY wide berth...especially the fridge.  That one can be flat out mean!

    • Gold Top Dog

LOL, Sky Rocky learned about that mean dish washer when he was a pup, came right down and bonked him on the head and all he was doin was walkin by......

We are finally getting some sunshine here.  Temps are in the 50's today and tomorrow but very windy.  I will take it tho  it's way better than single digits, I hope some of this sun can shine on all of you :)

Sigh.  no such luck Ginger.  Pouring rain.  Back wall of the basement looks like I installed one of those waterfall things.  39, but.....

Warmer temps here, too--it got well above freezing today but it is super-windy. Did "yard clean up duty" this afternoon as everything had thawed.

Sky--watch out for those kitchen appliances! They are sneaky.

Kate, thanks for the cards you've sent. So sweet of you to think of us.

We had wonderful weather this weekend. I wish I'd had more time to get out and enjoy it.

My brother passed away last Tuesday. It was not unexpected. I'm glad he's not suffering anymore. I have shed a lot of tears and my heart is broken.

Charles starts radiation treatment today. He's doing ok.
