Jackie, thanks for that update about Ginger.  I'm so sorry to hear that Ron has had a health scare during this time.  How difficult for both of them.  Thank doG they've got good friends and neighbors.  Too funny about teasing Ron for finding a way to escape his nurse maid role!  Smile

I hope her recovery continues to go smoothly and quickly and that Ron is back home feeling better soon.  Fingers crossed that he doesn't need anything major in terms of a surgery or anything.  Pacemakers do wonders -- I know my FIL did much better after he got one.

Until Ginger can log in, please tell her we're still sending lots of strong vibes to both her and Ron, and if we were closer, we'd do whatever we could to help!

And speaking of recoveries, I can't remember if I posted that DH had his first post-op visit Wednesday.  He saw the PA, not the surgeon.  He took the steri-tape off his incision, and it looks creepy -- it's going to be a nasty scar (stitches are on the inside, but the skin is all puckered and jagged).  DH was rather shocked at what it looked like.  He didn't say anything to the PA, but he said if the surgeon was there, he would've been tempted to ask him, "What did you use to cut me open -- a big shard of glass?  It looks like Dr. Frankenstein was my surgeon!"  Probably a good thing the surgeon wasn't there!

He's been home all week, no pain meds since Tuesday, and didn't wear the sling to bed last night.  He should be fine for work on Monday.  The PA ordered some PT sessions, but he'll wait to start those in another week or two.  Thanks for all your nice thoughts!

Gorgeous fall day here:  bright sun, crisp morning, maybe reaching high 70's this afternoon.  Days like this are rare here!

Thanks for the update about Ginger, Jackie.

Tracy, now your DH doesn't have to work too hard to think up a Halloween costume. Stick out tongue

I also saw your post about your friends putting the toilet paper roll on backwards to keep their cat from playing with it. I may have to do that, although I hate having it turned around. The holder is on the wall next to my toilet tank and it's a hard right to reach it as it is. Confused

A Popeye's Chicken opened here in town yesterday. It was built on a corner of a major intersection that cannot support the traffic as it is. With the entrance where it is, now it's a complete cluster.

Tina, our neighbor told DH the same thing about his scar yesterday!  He was planning to be a werewolf for the annual costume/fundraising event for our local shelter, but he may have to change his plan.

As for the TP being turned around, I'm a little OCD about that.  I like the paper to come off the top of the roll, not from underneath, so if I had the cat problem, I'd resist turning it backwards, too!

We've got a Dutch Bros. coffee shop that creates major traffic issues like that Popeye's does.  It's not uncommon at certain times of day to have to stop in the middle of the busy 4-lane road because the line of cars is OUT into the right lane of traffic.  Seriously, how badly do you need a cup of coffee that you risk being broadsided?  As a non-coffee drinker, I guess I can't answer that!  Wink

Oh dear Tracy -- you just threw me back into a college memory LOL -- I lived on campus and each two rooms had one common bath running in front of the rooms so we shared a 2 toilets and shower.  We had to supply our own "supplies" and most roommates shared the cost of TP ... one day my suite-mate came to me and said (and she was from Georgia and me from western NY) but she prettily drawled to me "I must make you aware of something ... you persist in putting the roll on the dispenser  so the paper comes off the bottom when it should come off the top ... and I have resisted saying anything but this does greatly offend me, ma'am,  that you persist in doing this the wrong way!"

(southern, private, religiously based school -- we were expected to "ma'am" each other)

I raised an eyebrow and tried to be really nice as I said "Well ... "offensive" would be not bothering to install a new roll at all.  My way may not be your way ... however my way causes the paper to hang straight down rather than rolling back under the roll so I surely wouldn't say your way was "right".  I suspect you also like Miracle Whip when I prefer Mayo ... but I suspect in Heaven we'll have the choice of both.  Have a lovely day. Ma'am!"

Thankfully suite assignments only lasted a year!!  I'm giggling Tracy -- I can imagine paper coming from the back would be less a toy for a kitty!  LOL

But then there was the day when old Mike Tha Dog (golden/spaniel mix probably) was being WAY too quiet.  I came out of the kitchen to see where he was only to catch him as he s-l-o-w-l-y backed out of the bathroom with a sheet of TP in his mouth ... backing, backing ... until apparently it finally broke.  THEN he proceeded to step forward eating the paper he'd felled!!  And *I* thot the husband was using a lot!  LOL  *still giggling*

Funny all these fast food places manage to create traffic issues.  We have a Dunkin on a tiny little street near the high school that gets MAJOR traffic for a tiny little street.  And of course, the Dunkin is right in the short block and creates all sorts of major traffic tie ups.  They purchased a school building (hated to see that old building torn down) so they can move less than a block, be on a corner, and put their drive through there.  Won't help the traffic issues since it will be on the corner of TWO tiny streets......they also purchased an old Catholic Church and wanted to tear it down but the public uproar was such that they've decided to donate that building to the city and find another location.  The church location would have caused major traffic issues too.

Mom is not doing terribly well, so if you could spare a good thot or prayer, I'd appreciate it.

Add me please to those who like the TP to come off the top......
