    Sept 29th chat

Can't see one so will start it up.

I must go to the "improvements" thread and mention it would be nice to be able to properly start a thread without going to an existing thread. I know the "Quick Post" is there but doesn't that only give you the non-rich format?

Anyway - I am happy to still be able to work from home some this week. Bugsy is at my side. Snoring and farting. Totally an old man now hahahahaha

Seriously he had a very active string of days so I presumed he'd lay out like this. One of the things he did was teach his young pointer friend about focus and the value of a dummy with wings. Stick out tongue Poor pup didn't have a chance to find the 'bird'. Of course the pup has no real focus yet, I keep talking to the owner about that.................anyway it was fun in the field for the bros.

Not a ton new or interesting happening here. My stepson arrives on Friday and I will have very little time to spend with him but I will be sure to make some.

My contract was extended again - for a long time now. And they increased my rate so work and work I will do.

I am ready to skin my DH for his laziness with regard to getting some things done here - he has loads of time so I really need for him to take the lead on those things.

I am hoping that Tracy's DH and Ginger are both recovering slowly but smoothly.

OK I had best get back to work

    here's one of the boys

    Too funny!  Big Smile

That photo of the boys playing is fantastic!  I love seeing dogs happily playing together.  I wish Ruby had a regular, tolerant playmate she could spend time with, but the two male dogs she has enjoyed are both getting up there in age.  We don't see them as often, and they aren't into the same level of play they once were.

First day back at work after a couple weeks of just coming in here and there for an hour or two.  It's been hard to get motivated to focus on the normal routine.  I best get that problem corrected because this week starts my "busy period" with some big monthly deadlines.

DH planned to return to work today.  He got up at 5:15am, but then I realized he was just standing in the bedroom.  I asked what was wrong, and he said, "I think I'm going to call in and say I'll be coming in later today."  He only took the prescription anti-inflammatory and analgesic last night (not the oxy-whatever) so he could be pain-killer-free for work today, but he woke up hurting.  Not sure he'll make it in at all . . . as of 11am he was still home.  He says the ice packs are most effective at soothing the pain, so maybe he'll be okay after icing it all morning.  I told him he should just do a couple hours of work per day this week.  We'll see what he decides.

Well the pup is lucky that B is B. He is very obnoxious and several of B's friends have told him off. B of course doesn't, he just gives him the cold shoulder when he acts like a turd. And B isn't as playful as he was, he is still very playful but you know he was non-stop crazy when he was younger.

So the farting, snoring dog has awoken now and is being a nuisance.

I am sorry to hear your DH is in such pain - I am not surprised though. These procedures are rough!

Jackie I hope the kitchen demo is going smoothly

    Nice picture, Karen. Smile

Weekend was busy, work has been busy.

    I hope everyone is well.

Day 2,389 of the kitchen remodel. Wait, it's only been one day. Seems longer. No updates on Ginger. I'll send her a text tomorrow to see how she's doing. I'm in shock about the sudden death of Dr Sophia Yin.

    • Gold Top Dog

LOL about the kitchen remodel seeming to take forever.  I think any renovation is really exciting before it starts, but just a mess once it gets started.

Tracy, I'm really sorry for your DH that he's in such pain, but I'm not surprised either.  Pain is our bodies way of telling us to knock it off, so I'm glad he's listening.

    Karen, what a great picture!!

I was surprised to see your post, Jackie, about Sophia Yin.

The neighbor behind me has a little shed on her property that is a favorite spot for critters. This time it is a young cat. I'm going to try to catch it and turn it in before winter sets in and/or there are babies.

Up to my eyeballs in work. Still.Tongue Tied

I just talked to Ginger. She said she's doing well and she sounded great.  She said she's going to pop in to the forum today to say hi.

I'm up to my eyeballs in work too. Wish I could find my motivation.  Good luck catching the kitty, Tina.

So happy to hear that Ginger is doing well.  I sent her an email the other day, but it dawned on me that it might have been her work email address, so she probably won't see it for a while!

The medical update at our house is DH went to his office for an hour or so yesterday afternoon, took care of a couple urgent things, looked over his schedule for the next few days and was glad to see that things should be reasonably quiet this week.  So, he slept in today and will take some phone calls at home.  If he goes in again, it'll be just for a quick check on things.  Tomorrow is the follow up with the doctor.  Ruby is very happy that he's been home with her so much the past week!

I don't envy the chaos of your kitchen remodel, Jackie.  When I think of projects like that, I think how wonderful it would be to be really wealthy so you could hire some top-notch designer, like Nate Berkus, to handle everything -- and then you check into a hotel until everything is completed.  You get to come home to a beautiful reveal, and never see so much as a speck of dust or hear one pound of a hammer!  Just keep trying to focus on how nice it'll be when it's done.  Are you taking before and after photos?  We might need to see those!  Wink

Walking through Lowes yesterday -doggie fencing- and misplaced my wife.  When found, she said she was looking at kitchen cabinets.  Yaaaaaa!

Junior is just as disgusting as any dog can be.  Running through the WMA, he stops and starts rolling in something.  Always a good sign.  Then he runs by carrying what looked like a branch.  No such luck.  It was a snake carcass, long dead and stiff.  he wanted to take it home with him.  No face licking for a while.

Final pup class tonight.  They get to swim.

Thanks for the Ginger update Jackie! Good gracious isn't it amazing how people can be so focused on trying to make something of nothing? (work related) The weather is glorious tonight, I am going to walk the Beast (OK get walked by the Beast) a bit later. I totally love fall. I am very happy tonight. No reason. In fact the day at work I had I shouldn't be, but sometimes all the niggling stuff fades away and I am overwhelmed with thankfulness. Cue tonight Have a good one folks!

    @kpwlee

Thanks for the Ginger update Jackie!

Ditto for the Ginger update! I am so glad she is doing well.

Karen, I love fall, too. I'm heading up to the Adirondacks this weekend--the leaves turned early, so it will be past peak, but that's OK.

Doug, Ronnie found a dead something to roll in the other night on our "before bed" walk. He had a bath as soon as we got home-he was thrilled with the "eau de dead critter." I was not and there was no way he was sleeping in his crate (next to my bed) stinking like he did!

We just got back from tonight's walk and Mozey and Ronnie were dialed in on a critter at one point--likely a bunny or cat. It's dark, so I couldn't see anything but they were both super focused. (It's fairly easy to redirect Mozey--Ronnie is another story!).

We got a bit of rain today--we need more, but I'll take anything. For Sept., we had less than 1/2 inch. Not even close to enough. I worry that Mother Nature will decide to make it up with snow this winter.

Part 2: I love the picture of Bugsy and his buddy--excellent shot!

I hadn't heard about Dr. Yin until your post, Jackie--such a major loss.

    • Gold Top Dog

I was just at our local shelter and a couple staff people were talking about Dr. Yin.  One of them said she wondered if it was something other than a sudden illness or auto accident, since both of those things would probably be referred to in any statements or news stories.  I suppose that's true.

Doug -- dead snake carcass -- ugh!  Dead or alive, I don't want to be near a snake.  Which reminds me -- on Saturday my friend and I were walking Ruby in a nearby neighborhood and I suddenly saw a snake on the sidewalk about 6 feet ahead of us.  I yelled "SNAKE" and dashed across the street (the one and only time I was doing more pulling than Ruby on the leash!).  It's rare to see them around here, so I was not happy.

Kate, do you walk both pups on your own at the same time?  I can't imagine doing that!  But if they're cooperative walkers, it's probably possible!

Off to eat dinner -- chicken on the grill tonight!

    • Gold Top Dog

Raining here now....Kate, I hope you get some of it!   Late yesterday I had just a few birch leaves in one part of my lawn.  This morning the whole yard is carpeted with leaves so we must have had some decent wind overnight.  I confess that I love walking through the downed leaves just as I did as a kid.  Something about the way they crunch and rustle does it to me every time.

Tracy, I used to take all six german shepherds on a walk together.  Its all about the training and constantly communicating with them instead of being on a cell phone or being otherwise distracted.  I really miss those days.  With Theo's hip bothering him again, we do just a gentle stroll around the back yard when he wants to potty, and I follow him....figure he knows how far he's able to go and how fast he wants to do it far better than I do.

I too appreciate the Ginger update and am glad to hear that she's doing so well.
