I am so confused I was sure I responded in this thread yesterday Huh?

Anyway - very happy to  hear that the surgery folks have come through with flying colors. Continued good recovery vibes going out to you all

Jackie I know a few people who have had vertigo and know it is no joke. Swift healing to you too

We've had a swift change into Fall and I must admit I've had some sinus/allergy issues too.

Had a 'rough' group the last two days and was happy to say - "have a good life" at about 5pm today LOL

It was pouring in about 60* today - I think last week it was 90*

Bugsy was WILD today. I didn't walk him first thing because it was 50 something and raining and it was 5 am. Apparently he was cwazee all day long and had DH on the ropes. When I finally got home I had to do something with him so I did some training. He makes me laugh because in some ways he never changes. Let's just say that he 'enjoys' clicker training to the extent that it can be a full contact and dangerous sport :)

OK that's all it's 8pm and I am not sure if I looked for mail yet.

    best thoughts to all

Hi all!! Either it's been so long that I've forgotten what a post looks like or I'm doing something wrong. Probably the latter ;)

First off I want to say that I'm happy Ginger's surgery went well and she's going (or has gone) home. Will have to read back more to see what happened to your hubby Tracy but I'm glad his surgery went well and he's home recovering. Jackie - I hope you're feeling better. I've never had vertigo but being nauseated turns me into a huge baby.

So, I'm officially retired and now have time to socialize again. I thought I'd have time after my assistant was hired but it seemed like we never got past the learning curve. She's still emailing me with questions about stuff we've gone over a million times. I also did a binder outlining everything but I'm wondering if she's even glanced at it. I made a not so subtle comment about that and didn't hear from her for a few days, so maybe there's hope.

Shane is doing great (thank God!!) and is the main reason I'm now retired. It wasn't planned but when they told me someone was going to be hired to help with a grant and would be sharing my office, it was the nudge I needed. I knew it'd be miserable for both him and myself to try to keep him calm with someone sharing my small office. It was a bittersweet departure and I'm struggling with too much free time. I figure out what to do with it but for now, it feels strange. It does look like the shelter hope pet shop we'd been trying to open for several months might finally be a reality. If so, it'll be the answer to my prayers.

Rambling on now but wanted to say "hi" and I've missed you. Comforting to see familiar folks still here :)

I'm logged in with IE. Firefox is still a problem as far as logging in. dog.com is working on it. Yesterday was a terrible day. I felt terrible and then near the end of the day one of our best techs told us he was taking a new job. :( It's a great opportunity for him so I can't be upset as I'd probably do the same if I were him. It will make my job much harder but I've been through this so many times, I am finally able to just say "oh well" and move on. Tracy, hope your DH is feeling better today.

Well, still not able to log in with Firefox or FB.  Oh well, not that big a deal to use IE for this site. I changed to Firefox because IE was causing other problems for me.

Ginger says she finally got to take a shower once she got settled in at home. That's one of the best feelings in the world if you've been hospitalized for a while. She could use some good thoughts and vibes for her DH and of course for her continued recovery. Her daughter is helping out so that's got to be a huge relief.

I woke up this morning with no vertigo!  :)

Our kitchen redo starts on Monday. This weekend I get to clean out all the cabinets. I'm afraid to see what's in the very back of some of them. lol  DH is so worked up over the whole thing that I'm afraid he'll drive the workmen crazy and they'll walk off the job. He gets a bit intense about this sort of thing which is why I dread any sort of project involving outside contractors.  I should probably make brownies for the workmen. :)

    Yay for no vertigo, Jackie!

Thanks for the update on Ginger. Vibes going out for her and Mr. Ginger.

Gorgeous weather here today and am stuck at work. Sad

Good news, I got a little raise - more money for cat food. LOL!

Glad to see Ginger is home.  Good thoughts for them.

Tracy, how is your DH doing?

    Yay, no vertigo!!

    Hi Cathy

I'm so glad it's friday, that is all :)

    • Gold Top Dog

Cathy!  It's so nice to hear from you!  I think of you often and hope you'll be able to stop by and visit more often now that you're retired.  So glad to hear Shane is doing well.  Give him some ear rubs from me!

Steph, good to see you as well.  Don't forget to post some pics of your kids in Halloween costume next month!  Just thought you'd like a reminder.  Wink

I know how happy DH was when he took his first shower yesterday, and that was only 48 hours since his last one.  I can't imagine how great if felt for Ginger.  I bet her dogs were thrilled to see her come home, and her hubby was probably pretty happy, too!

DH is doing very well -- but now my fear is that he's doing too much too soon.  He insisted on getting out of the house yesterday, so a friend took him to lunch, then he wanted to go out for BBQ for dinner last night.  He was pretty tired, but this morning he announced he wants to try not taking his pain meds and see if he can drive with one arm.  I tried in vain to convince him to take it easy . . . he's got all weekend to see what he'll be able to do for possibly going to work Monday.  But, he is insanely stubborn and does what he wants, so I will try not to say "Told you so!" if something happens.  I guess I should be glad he's not the type of guy who whines and moans for days on end, milking his situation for all it's worth, but there should be a happy medium, for Pete's sake!  Tongue Tied

My mother flies back to CT tonight.  We've had a nice visit, but I feel like we didn't do much of anything fun since we stayed so close to home.  WAY too  much eating, so I'll be glad to get back into our routine of smaller meals and the occasional bout of exercise!

I hope you DH doesn't over-do it Tracy!

I will definitely have to post pictures.  I just ordered Aaron's costume and will probably get Hannah's today or Monday (depending on what DH wants to do).  Since Aaron is too little to decide what he wants, we're doing a theme with the 2 of them.  Hannah wants to be Elsa (like almost every other little girl on the planet!) so we decided that Aaron can be Olaf.

oh boy.  Tracy, put your better half on the computer for this....

As one who has been through shoulder issues, and still suffering for the overuse....listen up.  Driving one handed is what I did for two months and I've been out of work for more than two months because of that foolishness.  When you drive one handed, you over compensate with the other side and cause all sorts of other muscles to feel abused and to loudly object.  If you don't have to, don't do it.  You'll pay a far bigger price for abusing your body than for just taking it easy until the Doc ok's moving on.

So glad Ginger is home and doing well.  I bet that shower felt like heaven!

    • Gold Top Dog

So happy for Ginger to be home and able to shower and sleep in her own bed. I couldn't wait to get home after my surgery and taking a shower was at the top of my list. I hope her recovery continues to go well.

Tina - congratulations on the pay raise!!

Tracy - I'm glad your husband is doing so well but agree with your worries. Hopefully he'll be fine. He might feel differently after he backs off all the pain meds too.

Jackie - my husband is the same way about any work done on the house. He's so neurotic that he ends up doing 1/2 the work. We just had new fencing put up along the front of the house and he was out there all day *helping*. I do think the extra oversight ensures the job is done right but I feel for the contractors.

Does everyone remember several months ago when some friends and I were going to open the pet shop for shelter pets? We could never find a retail space for free or cheap, so it all got dropped. Well, one of my friends never gave up looking. She found an absolutely perfect space recently and although they were asking $1500 per month and only came down to $1000, she signed the lease. I told her I couldn't help with the cost but would work my heart out, so I'm officially a partner. We think a few other women are also committed as well and met with them today. It's super exciting and perfect timing. The whole retired thing with not enough to keep me busy had me feeling edgy. This was a prayer answered. Good thoughts are appreciated.

Cathy, I remember when you told us about that possible venture.  How exciting that something has fallen into place so you can move forward.  I'm so happy for you to have found this new opportunity just when you have the time to devote to it.  Definitely keep us posted -- updates, photos, etc.  Sending lots of good luck vibes!

Well, my mother should be in the last couple hours of her LONG journey.  I saw her off about 11pm last night, and her midnight flight was on time.  She had a 4 hour scheduled layover in Minneapolis, but she texted there was an hour delay, so it'll be be nearly 15 hours door-to-door by the time she gets home.  Ugh.

nothing planned today but getting started on laundry and such.  DH's sister is due here in a couple weeks.  It's still busy season at our B&B!

I'm giving DH some reminders about things like you mentioned, Glenda.  Luckily, he'll be content watching football today and tomorrow, so hopefully he'll avoid over use of his arm.  We'll see about the driving.  He can't do his job entirely from an office, and he won't stay home for another month.  Maybe his boss will hire him a driver!  Wink

    • Gold Top Dog

Tracy, I swear I would not have the issues I'm still having now, if I hadn't been left in a sling for two months, tried to do everything I always did one handed, and driving is a big part of my job, and just pretended I didn't need TWO hands to do most everything.  I still can't sleep without muscle relaxers because the jumping muscles wake me up all night.  Just saying....sometimes we absolutely have to listen to our bodies.

Cathy, its great to see you back, and am so glad that things are falling into place with the project.  I do remember you talking about it and it sounds great.

15 hours to get home? Yikes! I'd be a mess. Good thing she loves you lots Tracy :)

Worked for a few hours out in the yard helping DH. We had to cut up the old fence and take down a volunteer tree plus severely prune a lemon tree. That lemon tree caused me the most angst. It had thorns on it an inch long and all I could think about was Shane stepping on a branch on the ground I missed. :(. I had to put on my serious gloves just to be able to handle it to cut it up. Hopefully I got all the little branches picked up. We really need a 2nd green waste can for this size of property though. I've got enough to refill it as soon as it's picked up on Tuesday.

Pet shop partner called this afternoon to say she was at the shop but had lost her key. I'm the only one who had another key, so I hopped in the car to meet her. In the meantime, she'd called her husband and he found the key in the pants she wore yesterday. I was sad to miss out on my nap for no reason. *sigh*
