    Week of 9-22-14 chat

Ginger had her hip replacement surgery this morning and is doing well. That info is from her daughter who contacted Jackie.

Tracy, I'm sorry that your DH did such damage to his arm. I hope his surgery goes well.

A group of friends and I went to the track in Detroit where all the horses from our little track went. The weather turned stormy about a half hour before races began, then the power went out for about an hour. As if that wasn't enough, the rest of the races were cancelled after the third one (out of nine) was run. It was a bummer, especially after we drove 2 1/2 hours and spent the money to stay over night. Tongue Tied

Thanks for the update on Ginger, Tina.  I'm glad to hear surgery went well.  Thinking good recovery thoughts for her!

Sorry your overnight trip was kind of a bust.  That's too bad.  But some time away with friends is fun, even without power.  :-)

I'm off work today, so my Mom and I are just hanging with Ruby this morning.  Got some errands to run after lunch.  DH sees the doc for pre-op info today.  One errand today is to get something to make in the crock pot tomorrow so dinner can be easy after DH's surgery day.  He may not feel like eating, but we'll see.

Tina; I'm sorry that your trip went so badly; has to be a bummer to spend all that time and money and then have the events you went to see cancelled.

I'm glad too that Ginger's surgery went well and will also be sending good thoughts.

Tracy; I'm sorry your husband's going to need surgery but once he's recovered he'll feel a lot better. I hope the surgery goes smoothly.

I couldn't log on yesterday from my home computer.  Tried multiple times and even tried logging in through FB with no luck.

Ginger texted me yesterday evening and she said she's doing well and wanted to thank everyone for the good thoughts and vibes. I'm not sure when she gets to go home. I'm glad things went so well for her. I'm sure she'd appreciate continued good thoughts being sent her way.

I spent yesterday morning at the emergency room. I've been having some vertigo off and on. Yesterday morning it was so bad I could hardly walk and felt nauseated. I thought I better get myself checked out.  Turns out it's an inner ear problem because of messed up sinuses.  I haven't had any other symptoms of a sinus problem so was pretty surprised. I was worried maybe it was my heart or stroke symptoms. Anyway I got some meds and hopefully they'll start kicking in today.  They did a CAT scan and I thought I would throw up because laying down made me so dizzy and nauseated. Good thing it didn't take long.

On our way home from the hospital, DH tells me he thinks one of his retinas is detaching. He went to the eye specialist after he dropped me off at home.  Turned out he didn't  which was a relief. He's had one detached retina before. I've had it happen four or five times so we both know the symptoms pretty well.

Tracy, good luck to your DH on his surgery.  Sending lots of good thoughts and vibes for him.

Ditto!  And thanks for the update on Ginger, Tina.

Yesterday we were treated to Michigans blustery winds.  Glad it's moved on!  Bright and sunny today and will make it into the low 60's, which will feel heavenly after yesterday.

Tracy, wishing your hubby a good surgery and a great result.

Good vibes for Mr. Tracy today.

Oscar nearly gave me a heart attack at lunch time. I wasn't paying attention when I opened the door to go in the house and the stinker ran outside. My street is very busy due to being near the high school and the chances of being hit by a car are high. He's also declawed in front (not by me), so not much defense. Good thing he only went about 10 feet before I grabbed him. Huh?

Jackie; I've had problems logging on too, which is one of the reasons I don't come here much anymore. I'm glad you didn't have something seriously wrong and hope the meds kick in soon. It's also good that your hubby's eye was okay.

Tina; glad Oscar's okay; that was quite a scare.

Continued good thoughts for Ginger and for Tracy's husband.

Thanks for all the good vibes.  Heading to surgical center now.  Poor DD is starving -- no food since midnight and an afternoon surgery aren't ideal!  I'll update later this evening.

glad Oscar didn't get far, Tina.

Jackie, I had labyrinthitis a few years ago, with the worst vertigo ever, and horrible nausea.  It was awful.  I got meds for motion sickness, I think it was.  Strong stuff that helped, but I had a rough couple weeks.

    More later!

I'm using IE to log in since that seems to be the only way. What a pita. Ginger says she tried to get released from the hospital today but they want her to stay until tomorrow. She's missing all her boys. Tracy, hope your DH's surgery went well.

Continued good thoughts for Ginger--I'm glad the surgery went well! And, good thoughts for Mr. Tracy, too!

Oscar--no escaping! Tina, I would be a wreck!

I had trouble logging on with my phone today--I couldn't get past the square that asks about creating an account (or I think that's what it's asking.) Oh, Jackie, vertigo is no fun. When I have a really had episode, I can't keep water or anything else down, etc. Have had to get IV's twice because I got so dehydrated and needed some major anti-nausea meds. (shot and via IV).

Ronnie is sacked out--he was at "day camp" today and played with his friends. It's hard to believe he's been here just four months-he has adjusted so well. Mozey loves having a brother, too.

Doug, the apples sounds amazing! I wish I lived closer!

Quick update:  DH's surgery went well -- the surgeon said it was "as easy as he could've hoped it would be," the tendon was right where it showed on the MRI last week, in very good shape, quickly reattached to the bone.  We got home about 6pm, and he was desperate for the pot roast I made, but decided that was too much on his woozy stomach, so I got him some wonton soup.

Now we're about to watch a movie, and he's resting comfortably with several pillows around him, and Ruby right by his side.  I'll see if he'll agree to a photo op!

Thanks for the good thoughts, and someone in touch with Ginger please tell her I'm sending good vibes.  I'll get a message to her tomorrow hopefully!

I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well.   Tracy, I'll text Ginger in a little while to pass along your message.

Glad to hear Mr. Tracy's surgery went smoothly.

Jackie is having trouble posting, so asked me to pass along that Ginger is going home today.

Not much new from my side of the funny farm.

Glad to hear that Ginger is going home. It seems everyone's healing process goes much better when they can be in their own house, their own beds and chairs, pets nearby, etc. DH didn't sleep too well last night -- tough to get comfortable sitting upright with pillows supporting his back and arm. We don't have a recliner -- that would make things much better. His appetite is good, so he keeps eating and taking the maximum pain med dose to stay ahead of the pain. He and Ruby are napping on the loveseat now. Mom and I are heading out for some errands.
