Short Week Chat - Starting 9/3/14

Jackie, I keep telling our rain that it's much more needed in Texas, but it just won't go there.  I even offered to loan in our GPS to find its way......

My apologies for the multiple posts for the pictures. Can't figure out how to insert in text, or post more than one at a time. Tracy was right...they quite happily posed for the camera!  OK, the "devise" that is my cell phone.  I laughed so hard today at Momma Squirrel.  I had seen her peeking up at the deck when I was outside with Theo.  After Theo went in, I loading up the railing with nuts for her and sat there for a bit icing my shoulder after PT.  She didn't come up for breakfast, so I went inside to do some work for work.  When I next went out, I noticed peanut shells right in front of the patio doors.  Guess she was finished with the nuts and decided to look in to see if I was near by or coming out with more!  As I've said, these critters have me well trained.

I'm so sorry to hear that Joan Rivers hadsdied.  When I heard that she'd been moved out of ICU and was being "kept comfortable", I suspected that they'd removed life support or given up hope.  Such a shame all the bigger than life talents that have died recently.

For a short week this certainly has been an insanely busy one!  PT, doctors appointment, work.......will be glad to see the weekend!  Karen, it sounds like you could use a VERY long weekend!

Your critters are adorable, Glenda!  Boy, that little guy is the living illustration of "chipmunk cheeks!"  We don't see chipmunks around here, but they're in central Oregon.  We used to see them a lot in CT.  So cute.

Karen, sorry to hear about your computer and power troubles, but I'm even sorrier to hear about your long work hours.  I'm pretty good at math, and by my calculations, that's way beyond the "normal" average work week!  Wink  I hope you don't have to keep up that pace too long.

Bugsy's party sounds like a fun bash.  Give him some belated BD ear rubs from me!

Gosh we're a quiet bunch today.

PHEW!  TGIF big time!  The week was just way too busy for a short one.

DS will be 35 tomorrow.  He's my BABY.  Does that make me truly ancient??

DS will be 35 tomorrow.  He's my BABY.  Does that make me truly ancient??

Glenda, your post reminds me of how my mother used to always say she was "39 and holding" when we were kids.  Eventually, she started saying, "It sure makes it hard to say that when I have daughters who are nearing 30!"  I'm not a parent, but I still feel ancient when I think of my cousin who is now 28, with a child of her own.  I remember when she was christened as an infant.  Surely that can't mean I'm nearly 30 years older, can it?!

DH is gone overnight, so Ruby is moping.  I bought her a new cheap fuzzy toy as a surprise, and that made her happy for about 15 minutes.  She tore a hole in it and started de-stuffing it, so I had to put it away.  Good thing is was only 75 cents!

Theo needs a couple new stuffies.  He chews on a bone now and then, but really enjoys most committing stuficide.

Tracy, I openly embrace my age, but, the thot of my youngest child being THAT old is wierd!  And I can't help but know that I've gotten to keep him at least a year longer than Michael, yet Ryan is the child who has never been easy with me as his brother always was.

This was one of those days when you know why you chose to live in MN.  No mosquitos, about 65ºF, light breeze, a few clouds.  We visited the local winery this evening-MN has a well developed wine industry.  The Morgan Creek Winery is in a valley off the Minnesota River Valley and is beautifully landscaped by God.  We had a little wine, a little pizza, and listened to some really good live jazz.  Wife saw and talked to a few friends, I know the lead guitarist from the group, and it turns out I know one of the bar maids (this impressed my wife to no end).    When we left, the guitarist said" thanks for coming, Doug".

I would like to say I party too much and know a lot of people from the bar scene, but the guitarist is a client  with a pool, and the bar maid is a pharmacy tech at my drug store.

Wife got to tell a former coworker that while he was getting ready to teach another year and was in the meaningful  round of mandatory meetings,  she was at Disney World.  My wife does have a cruel sense of humor.

Google Morgan creek wineries and watch the video.  The oak tree is magnificent.

I went to the botanical garden yesterday with some friends and their five year old grandson. We got to meet the artist who builds the Lego sculptures. :) He's a very personable guy and was so good talking to the kids about building things with Legos. The five year old was almost as excited as the adults at the sculptures. lol It was around 10:30 when we got there and already hot and humid. The grankid told us he wanted to see the Legos that were inside. :) We convinced him that walking around to find them in the garden would be fun. He then declared he could easily walk fifty miles. We told him we weren't up to that much walking. lol It was a fun day. We had lunch at a favorite restaurant afterwards. DH and I are going again next weekend for the Brews and Blooms event.

Hi all. Hope you all had a great holiday week/end. I spent it in NYC racing around on a bike. It was great fUn. Coming back to reality though as a bit harsh. Why is it the short weeks feels like the longest?

We are getting into fall weather now. The cool nights are setting in. I went to the cider mill today and got fresh apples, caramel apples and donuts. Yum! This is one of the best times of the year. Not hot. Not cold. Just perfect.

random thouht: Why can't adults act like adults instead of high schoolers? I don't think we all ever actually ever leave high school do we? Total human nature to form cliques and gossip etc. I wish it wasn't. I've never been a fan of cliques or bullies. But it's reality.
