A real phone booth -- cool!  Something I've always wanted is one of those red phone booths from England.  I think it would be neat to have one in my house and use it as a coat closet.  Or, maybe it could be converted into a stall shower in a really funky bathroom.

I noticed the text wrap issue on Karen's post, too.  I couldn't see the full link to see the video of Bugsy.  But that photo was a great one!  Such a handsome guy.

I don't know if it made news outside of Oregon, but yesterday they finally found/arrested the woman suspected of murdering her 2-year old daughter and critically injuring her 13-year old last week in a Cannon Beach hotel.  That's the little town I posted my photos of the other day.   The tragedy happened 4 days after we were there.  We walked by that hotel several times.  So, so sad.  The news stories thus far seem to indicate some troubled history, based on documents filed by her ex-husband related to custody concerns.   I can't imagine what the 13-year old will have to deal with as she recovers physically and mentally.

On a much lighter note, tonight our neighborhood is having its annual "National Night Out" BBQ in the cul-de-sac next to our house.  Lots of good food to eat.  Last year's event was when Ruby "learned" how to bust out of her old crate (to come to the window and see what all the noise was about).  We're hoping she'll NOT bust out of her new one.  Might have to turn the TV up really loud!

Tina, I noticed the glitch with Karen's post. I assumed it was because the pic was too large. Some sites limit picture size for that reason. I hate resizing pictures and that's my excuse for not posting them anymore.

Gin, I didn't know you had a famous pay phone booth? Is that like the last one around?

Hot and humid today.  I got so mad this morning at one of our techs. I came this close to firing his sorry butt.  He's on very thin ice right now and knows it.

I just noticed that this thread is two pages. I'm probably missing something since I didn't read the second page yet. lol

Tracy, so sad about the tragedy. That 13 year old. I can't imagine dealing with that and I hope she is provided therapy.  I hope you have fun tonight at the neighborhood bar b q.

One of my n'er do well cousins asked me about low cost spay neuter programs here. The city has a lot of options. This cousin has access to the internet. I don't get how some people seem incapable of looking this stuff up for themselves. I gave her a link to several sites. I'm probably just too gripey today to let silly stuff like this roll off my back.

Tina, thanks and I hope Belle enjoys the Nose Work class tonight. I'll report in tomorrow.

About the phone booth....yes it is a working phone  booth, it is not the only one left around but after it got hit in an accident we found that there are not many left.   The boss (a wonderful man) has had the phone company in his family since inception.  When the phone booth got hit by a car he thought, well the end of an era.  Well, think again!  The web site was full of please try to fix it pleads from our small community :)  The the press came then the  NY Times called.  It has been refurbed and the first test call came in before 11:00 a.m. today.

Sorry had a bit of trouble with the link lets try again

    From The New York Times:

A Town Won't Let Go of a Coin-Drop Line to the Past

The Prairie Grove Telephone Company in Arkansas is working to resurrect its last phone booth after it was damaged by a car.

What a great story!  I love the different imagery the Times author used in the article (my favorites:  "confessional of communication" and the damaged booth being carried coffin-like by "pall-bearers" behind the motel).  It's really neat that it was able to be saved, even if it isn't used much anymore.

I also got a kick out of the Facebook page.  The little Superman in the booth was cute.  And Ginger, have you got your Square Dance reservations completed?  The deadline is approaching!  Wink  I couldn't help but read a few more posts -- it looks like you live in a nice little town!

The Square Dance competition is huge around here. It is for children ages 4 - 18 .  Big doin's.  They have a parade, bands, tractors, cars, Square Dancers, horses from the surrounding rural towns.  This all happens on Labor Day Weekend, which is also when my kids and grandkids come home for the festivities.   Now I was born and raised in Tulsa, not that we were Big City but we were city so I do love most of the small town atmosphere.  It was a good place for the kids to grow up.  It has been a great place to work.

Well it won't let me edit my own post (so much for my moderator powers) - every

time I try it allows me to edit Ginger's post - go figure - anyway the link is to a flower photo

LOL OK Tina I get it - most people aren't into seeing a dog from behind - I just love that photo - he was stalking a heron, they seem to have overtaken geese as waterfowl enemy no.1. Something about the pose just is so Bugsy
One day he may let me take a front facing photo - don't hold your breath though

Wahooooo!  I have notifications again!  Yippy skippy!

The squirrels have now trained us to put peanuts out on the deck when they come sit on the rail.  One sits right in front of the french doors and stares into the house.  Drives poor Theo batty!

Started PT last week and it's going well.  However, yesterday I decided I'd take the stairs down instead of waiting for the elevator.  I pushed open the bar on the stairwell door and it grabbed the end of my middle finger and tried to take the end off!  The poor gals in the gastro's office got a bloody person walking in asking for a bandaid!  Needless to say, they do very little first aid there.

Between PT (NOT the sports therapy kind where they think everyone should be in professional athlete condition) the meds and the ability to sleep through the night again, almost every night, I've improved greatly.  Not driving so many miles every week (working from home) is a huge help too.  Hopefully in a couple more weeks I'll be able to start getting out a little.

No, I wasn't being a jerk, we love Bugsy's muscled butt. He's got a great tushy! I wish Janice was still here to post pictures of Rupert's butt.

Here are a couple pictures of Oscar:

And for comparison, here is Missy. The two look a lot alike, but Missy is about 1/3 Oscar's size.

What pretty kitties!  Oscar is a very lucky boy.
