Hi so happy you reached out to us! This is a very, very young pup looks like only a few days old, so he will  need extra special care. Can you please contact a vet to help you with what the pup may need. A dog this young needs round the clock feeding and you'll need special milk you can't give them regular milk it will upset their stomachs. It's hard to tell what breed beings he is so small. This little guy will need to be kept warm too. I would reach out to anyone you know who maybe knowledgeable about puppies. But contact a vet for sure! Really great you took this little guy in. Keep us posted.

Absolutely what Michele  said.  Their eyes are closed because the eyes are literally not mature enough to have "vision" occur.   All puppies are also born deaf -- same reason.  The ears aren't mature enough yet to make hearing happen.  --  it is actually pigment cells that the body uses as avenues for neural transmitters to make hearing "happen" (which is why a dog they call "a lethal white" -- like an all white pit,, or an all white Dalmatian can very often be deaf

This little guy has color pigment on his nose so he's likely not an "all white" dog, but watch for that.  Hearing usually occurs about the same time vision does so when his eyes open you will be able to tell more..

I am absolutely not any sort of reliable authority on puppies -- others will be by to help.  But everything Michele said.

contrary to what you will *want* to do -- don't take him places like PetSmart or around the neighborhood.  Right now the only immunity he has is from maternal antibodies (passed to him by mommy dog's blood) -- but you want to make sure he isn't exposed to a whole lot of things.
