Mindless Chatter

Thanks Jackie and so happy to hear the news about Chigger. Hoping that the meds will do the trick and Chigger will be all better in no time.

I think limiting this to just a week  will be better.

Maureen, I'm sorry to hear about your friend's cat and all her recent losses.  I remember your thread about her and how unfair it seemed for one person to go through so much sadness.

Jackie, great news about Chigger.  What a relief for your friend.  I hope the little guy's tummy is feeling better soon.

We're off to the farmer's market.  It's gorgeous out, but due to get hotter this afternoon, so we'll do the early visit.

Sorry to hear of so many losses, glad that Chigger is OK, hoping the little pup is fine, we have multiple honeysuckle plants and some near the coast look like the one you posted Tina.

I have been irritable all week. So many reasons, none tragic so I keep trying to reset my mood but have been unsuccessful.

I just opened our garage door to go get the mail with Bugsy and the mail truck was right outside the door. Needless to say the mailman screamed (really) which made Bugsy bark and run toward him. Being as irritable as I have been I was pissy with both of them. Had the guy not screamed I am fairly certain Bugsy would have been happy to greet him. BUT once he screamed and ran I feel lucky that Bugsy didn't chomp him. Sigh.

I want to run off to the mountains next week in the hope of some relief from this awful humidity but I can't find a place to stay. I won't have any time off (that I can foresee now) until Thanksgiving  and several months look REALLY jam-packed. I am about to start another search for a place to hang near a river, wish me luck

If you find something  Karen, book me a cabin. I'm sorry you've had such a tough week.

Same here.  I am tired of the heat and we've got two more months of it. Work was a bitch all week and the family stuff.

I took Belle to the vet for her thyroid recheck. I do my usual thing and wait with her in the car until called. They call and we head inside. I open the clinic door and there stands a Great Dane. Right there, ready to exit with his owner. Great Dane and Belle square off with hard looks exchanged. I pull the door shut and hold it shut and say "don't come out!". lol I went in the back door. The techs were surprised to see me walk in their area. They were fine with it when I told them what happened.

My encounter with a gal jogging in this ridiculous heat at 4 PM was frustrating. I stopped and said, your dog looks really hot. His feet must be on fire having to run on the pavement. I offered them a ride home but she declined. Probably worried I was some nut. I gave her my bottle of water and suggested she give him a drink and pour the rest on his head and belly.  She looked sort of concerned and I hope it was over her dog and not her being concerned that I was crazy. When I drove off, I looked back and she seemed to be giving her dog a drink. Hope they made it home ok. How can someone not know how fricking hot it is for a dog?!

Jackie. 3 cheers and more to you for saying something to that woman with the dog. Drives me crazy when I see people jogging with their dogs in the heat and then on the pavement besides. Gets me crazy when I see people just standing around in the heat and on paved areas with their dogs. The heat is really so much harder on the dogs than it is on us and tho the people may have water for themselves, I rarely see that anyone is carrying water for their dogs. Karen I'm with you on the humidity. I do hate to complain about the heat, living in the north, because it sure beats the snow but I do hate the humidity.  Yup, that's the first thing to do when you see a dog, scream and turn tail and run.

Thanks Tracy. She's had a terrible time that is for sure. Just hoping the other two old cats hang in there for a time yet.

Humans who jog in the high heat baffle me, but humans who are stupid enough to bring their dogs with them infuriate me. Maybe your encounter with that woman will make her think twice next time, Jackie.

We're going to the beach today. Ruby has been only once, about 6 months ago. This is a a beach we used to take Tonka To.  It's got an endless area for walking. It's going to be 90-something here, and in the 70's there, so it's a great day to go!

I haven't been keeping up and just quickly read thru the posts on this page but Yay Jackie for giving that stupid lady a bottle of water for her dog. We had sar training  yesterday and while it was only 80 ish the humidity was crazy high. All the dogs struggled. I only ran abbie twice and she was able to lay in a Creek after each one.

On the way home from training we all got caught I'm the worst storm! You could not see in front of you. I had a friend following me and we pulled off, grabbed the dogs and ran into a grocery store for cover. It looked like a tornado was about to hit at any moment. My car is all dented up from the hail and the wind was moving my car around. Inside the store there were at least 5 kids crying they were so scared. So I used abbie as a distraction, she gave each one kisses and made them feel better. The parents were thankful lol.

I'm pretty tired today and every muscle in my body aches. It's going to be a long one

Hi all -- Jackie, I'm living the humidity too -- ugh.   I turned 20 last Friday (and thank you to all of you who sent me Happy Birthday messages & emails).  My husband's card for me was one of those "pop-up" cards with fireworks on it ... with a big huge **20** inside LOL

(for those of you who don't remember, I started counting backwards at 40 - life just needed a major "do over" at that point, and it's too much fun to stop now).

The only glitch is -- technically I'm not old enough to drink in Florida LOL.  Friday nite we went to Universal/City Walk to see Classic Albums Live at the Hard Rock.  Tons of fun.

Yesterday (my husband loves and humors me LOL) we went down to the local "artsy" theater to see  "Oliver" ( 1960's musical movie of the Broadway Play).  It's one of my all-time favorites. It's one of those places where they serve food while you watch your movie.  Again, we had a blast for cheap.

We've had the worst thunder/lightning storms in the past 2  weeks that I've seen in probably 20 years.  and **more of them* than I have ever seen.  The Floor-da Aquifer is FULL -- and the lakes are all bursting at the seams.  No hurricanes seen yet but more storms.  Once again, I'm danged glad I don't live on a lake.
