Saturday 6/28/14 Where did June go?

I haven't kept track of how many consecutive days of storms we are on, however we are in the full summer mode of daily thunderstorms and I hate it. Every evening is ruined and it is so wet, buggy, and humid, it stinks! I will say that although Bugsy is reacting to the storms, it isn't as bad as previous years Oh and the yard looks ridiculous so today I am tackling the jungle. I posted in yesterday's thread with good wishes for all in need. I haven't sold my Kia yet so I need to push that today That's all, think I might make pancakes for breakfast

It's crazy humid here too. I guess I just need to get used to it because it doesn't seem to want to go away.

I'm super tired this morning. Today is going to be a nap day I'm thinking.

The dogs are scheduled to get groomed today which is a great thing because they stink! And they need that undercoat pulled out. I'm sure they will be swimming again before the weekend is over but a day of not smelling will be nice ;p

I will take the heat and humidity over the nasty winter that we just experienced!

Right now, it is sunny with a nice breeze.  I got the lawn mowed Thus, so one less worry (will have to thank the kids for the mower-it is coming out of their inheritance).   Grandkids are gone, so the house is quiet.  Lugnut really liked them (personally woke them every morning) but seems glad for the quiet.  He is finding all the toys that were not put away-the GKs were warned that he eats anything on the floor.  Guns did settle down with the kids when he got used to them and really enjoyed playing with them.

We are expecting up to 3 inches more of rain this weekend.  May have to tie the canoe to the back step.  Fortunately, we live on the high ground.  Some locals didn't know that Nicollet has high ground.  I was looking for a small fishing boat.  Wife said it was okay, knowing full well that I would talk myself out of it, and I did.

I found a great spa for the dog.  Long grass to run through, pulling loose hairs, mud to bath in-from the smell probably exotic-, and a nice clear creek to wade in and clean up before the trip home.  This dog really likes to splash.

Last class of Obedience 1 next week.  Don't know if I want the next class.  It's going to be more for the show ring,.  I may just opt for the off leash class, then see if I can work with a field dog trainer on hunt and retrieve work.

I love off leash classes! I wish every dog owner had the opportunity to take one.

I heard about the crazy flooding in MN. That's a whole lot of rain.

And yes I would rather have the heat and humidity over the sucky winter we had this year. I would even go as far as saying I would be happy to live in a climate that never went below 50 no matter how hot it got in the summer. It is a hot one here today though. Over 80 before noon which is pretty rare. I broke down and turned on the ac.

I don't know . . . I  might opt for cold winters over humidity.  It's been so long since I've had to deal with either one that I can't say for sure, but what I remember when living in a climate that had both is that I felt I could always add more layers to get warm, but once I was hot and sticky and sweaty, there was no getting comfortable unless you were lucky enough to have A/C.  Either one is crummy, which is why people like this area of Oregon.   You don't have to deal with either of them.

Doug, I'm glad the grandkids had fun with Lugnut and vice-versa.  Kids and young pups definitely makes for some fun!  I hope you all don't float away up there anytime soon.

    Well done, Abbie!

I think we're back to normal for Ruby.  She had a good walk last night and finally pooped something firm, although small in volume.  She was then acting obnoxious in the house all night, zooming and shredding toys.  This morning I gave her a normal sized breakfast.  DH comes home tonight, so she will be beside herself with happiness!

I've managed to trim half the backyard jungle.  The rains have been wonderful.  lol  The mosquitos had a feast and I sweated buckets.  I'm inside cooling off, rehydrating and getting a blood transfusion. lol

Glad to hear miss Ruby is better and acting her crazy self. :)

Nap sounds good to me but I better finish at least the back yard.  DH doesn't trust me to trim the front. I don't have his surgical skills with the trimmer and really don't care if it's not perfect.  This is not a bad thing, for me. :)

Doug, glad you're not in a low lying area.  The flooding in MN that the news has shown looks devastating.  Lugnut sounds like a great pup.  I admit that I am extremely jealous. :)

LOL Jackie - I need to hydrate and get a blood transfusion as well!

I thought about you and wondered how you get anything done outside with multiple dogs, Bugsy is a tremendous 'help' outside :)

    Yea Ruby!!

Nap is coming now, well I won't really nap but I am going to chill for a bit. I forgot I have a hair appointment later.

Winter's here are tolerable to me, no matter how bad. And if summer were hot with occasional storms, fine. But the last few summers we go weeks and weeks with daily thunderstorms so what fun can you have? They are violent and dangerous storms, they throw down huge amounts of water, everything is soaked all the time, when the sun does emerge it is literally a steam bath. It's too hot for the dogs and for humans. You can't sit outdoors because it's so wet and you are eaten alive. Seriously I must sound like an extremist but i am not and that's the problem,  summer here seems to mean limited outdoor activities for several months.

However, at least we are not flooding (yet), glad you are on high ground Doug. The floods look horrific

I finally found and actually got to this thread.  Man, this forum is tough to navigate and without notifications working........

Meant to mention that I so glad that Mr. Jackie is getting to stay where he wants to be.

Glad that Ruby is doing well now.

And, speaking of rotten spits.....Theo wandered all darned night.  He emptied the bathroom wastebasket, pulled all the tp off the roll and then when I got up, I found him devouring the box of tissues I keep on the end table in the livingroom..  As poorly as I've been sleeping lately, I heard every click of the toenails, but somehow managed to sleep through the mess making!  If I'd been awake enough to move through all this nocturnal wandering, I would have put him in his darned crate.

It's absolutely beautiful here today.  78 and very sunny.  It says it feels like 90, but with the breeze, I'm sure not feeling it.  This kind of weather I can deal with, but the humid just really bothers me..  The only perfect place I've ever lived, weatherwise, was Arroyo Grande, CA.  If it weren't so darned expensive to live there, I'd love to go back and not have any of the weather extremes.  Of course, there is the issue of earthquakes.......

Doug, that pup is quite the jewel.  I'm a tad envious too!  And, very glad that you stayed dry.

I think I'm going to go out and do what playing in the dirt I'm able to do one armed.

    Hope everyone enjoys the day.
