    Tired Thursday chat

    Morning all!

Gosh, we had a major storm last night.  Pretty intense thunder and lightning, but we didn't loose power or anything, but the biggie was the buckets of rain......streets flooded, a bridge was washed out....just kept on coming.  I believe that it rained most of the night as well.  Soggy as heck outside this morning.  Theo was not impressed when he went out to potty!

    Wishing everyone a great day!

I slept really well last night. The sun is out today.

Julie, be sure you eat a NY bagel (or 2).

The massive rains we got at the office yesterday didn't fall at our house.  We only got half an inch.  Some areas got over 5".  Still not as terrible as the flooding in some areas.

Tina, glad you slept well last night.  I did too except for the bad dream that woke me up right before my alarm.

I've never had a NY bagel never having been to NY.  I've never liked bagels maybe because I've never had a good one.

There’s nothing like a proper NY style bagel (boiling them before baking is one key difference).  I wish I had one now.

All my worrying about something happening to my MIL while DH is away may be for naught (SIL arrives this afternoon, so she’ll be here for any emergency anyway).  Turns out it’s RUBY who has the medical situation.

Yesterday morning her poop was soft and slimy, but that will happen now and then if she’s eaten too much grass or one too many dirt clumps in the yard, or we shared something with her that was too rich, etc.  It’s a one-time thing usually.  But, in the afternoon and evening, she had a couple more bouts, and it was almost entirely liquid – very stinky and kind of gold/yellowish in color.  Her appetite is normal, so I gave her dinner, and she was zooming around all night as usual.  However, she was restless all night and I had to take her out at 2am.  More of the same when we got up this morning, so I only gave her a tiny bit of kibble and some white rice.

I'm going to call the vet in a few minutes and see what they say.  I was going to run a bunch of errands today and get my tires rotated, but I’m afraid to leave her alone in case she needs to go out urgently.  If I have to take her to the vet, it’ll be tricky because she is not good in my car and is hard for me to handle in the office.  Oh well – I’ll take it one step at a time.  At the very least, I’ll need to run to the store to get some canned pumpkin and maybe some ground turkey to make for her.

Oh, poor Ruby.  I hope it's nothing serious.  Tracy, if a crate doesn't fit in your car maybe you should consider a seatbelt harness for her for times when she needs to ride with you.  Sending lots of good vibes for Ruby.

Poor ruby. I hope her stomach settles down!

I went back to the doc today because I now have ear infections in both ears. He said he had the exact same bug back in April and he is still coughing from it. Ugh! Said it takes forever to work it's way out. Talk about a super virus Geez. I'm OK though just annoyed. I wanted to scream just give me some antibiotics whether they will work or not lol. He didn't ;p  so I will just be patient. Ya right ;p

Going to Try to ride my bike in for the first time tomorrow. Gotta stop being lazy!  Especially since that will be my main mode of getting around when I'm in nyc. My friend says it's a huge rush to ride his bike through nyc traffic. Heh. Can't wait.

Hope you feel better soon Julie. If the doctor said you have ear infections, seems he should have prescribed antibiotics.

Tracy, I hope Ruby's stomach is better soon. Didn't she have giardia recently? It can take more than one course of medicine to clear it up; hope that's not the case.

Yikes - double ear infections -- I had those as a kid way too often.  I hope they clear up soon, Julie.

Janice, yes, she did test positive when she had a routine check-up a couple months ago.  She had no symptoms then, however.  After talking with the vet today, she suggested we treat for giardia, but I'll bring a stool sample tomorrow just to be sure (how I collect nearly 100% liquid will be interesting!).  She didn't think Ruby needed to be seen because she's acting normal in all other ways -- normal appetite, normal energy when we walked.  She is mopey, since DH is out of town, so I'm hoping I'm not reading that wrong.  It's not as severe as lethargy due to illness -- just a kind of sad, lying around thing.

My SIL arrives in 30 minutes, so we'll see if she perks up then.  Until I get the meds tomorrow, I'm giving her a little ground turkey, some rice and some pumpkin for a very light dinner.  Fingers crossed she's okay for the night.  I still haven't had a good night's sleep all week!

Thanks for all the well wishes!

Not on much these days for various reasons. Just not that easy to access from phone and not staying logged in all of the time. My Kindle is sometimes doing some funky things and not working properly and I'm still not used to this new computer and new windows. Might help if I used it more often but it is just frustrating. Tracy hope Ruby gets over her problem soon. I had a dog who used to have gastroenteritis every so often. Never knew what got it going but we would just have to put her on Intestinal diet for a few days and medication and it would clear up until the next time. The stool was just pretty much liquid with much of the liquid blood and so a very bad odor. She always acted okay, just the rush to get out to potty. Fortunately it didn't happen too often and hope Ruby's incident is only a one time thing, but just thought I'd mention it so it could ease your mind a bit.  Had a tooth pulled this morning. I have periodontal disease and dry mouth so have a lot of problems with my teeth and am pretty used to sitting in a dental chair. Tooth pulling is the worst though. The blood and Gauze in the mouth is the pits. Finally got most of the bleeding stopped late this afternoon and was able to take the gauze out. Starting to hurt a bit now but not too bad.  We had a bad storm the other night and lightning hit an apartment house and started a fire in the attic. Fortunately no one was hurt and I think they contained the fire but think it might be awhile before tenants are able to move back in. Lightning is scary stuff.
