    Monday Monday chat

Not sure what I did wrong this weekend, but sure did wake up in a ton of pain.  I was really careful all weekend not to overdo with the shoulder, but, I'm guessing Friday was too much for it.  I'm all over the County on Fridays and schelping newspapers to what seems like half a zillion folks, so......Been taking pain meds since Friday evening, and resting, icing, blah, blah, blah.  This morning tho, I can barely move and the pain is traveling from the shoulder up the neck and right into the head.  I'll take more meds and work from home this morning, but, dang it, I hate this.

We had such a beautiful weekend!  We didn't go anywhere or do anything exciting, but it was so nice to take periodic "breaks" out on the deck.....just perfect weather for me.

I've got to share the story of our scheming squirrel.  One day this week I happened to glance out the french doors and a squirrel was sitting at the bottom of the deck stairs, just staring at the door.  Hmmm.  OK, gently tossed a handful of peanuts to him and he was happy as heck.  Next day, same thing.  Since the chipmunk tends to hang out in the front yard, I'm always careful to take some out there for him/her as well.  So yesterday, DH spots two squirrels and the chipmunk in conference in the back yard.  A short time later  said squirrel is standing on his back legs at the bottom of the stairs staring at the  doors again.  Apparently s/he is the designated begger, because as soon as we tossed the nuts, the second squirrel and the chipmunk appeared to share the spoils.  What a riot.  The wildlife is certainly training US well.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Sorry you woke up so sore and painful.

No squirrel in it's right mind would be begging for hand outs in our yard.  lol

My weekend was pretty boring.  I had to go shopping for jeans again, thanks to Rex.  Took DH because he wanted some shorts.  That was a big mistake.  He looked at every pair of shorts in every store and ended up with one pair.  The man should get a job as a personal shopper.  He loves to shop.  I found my jeans in ten minutes and was looking around for a nice cool bar to hang out in while I waited for him. Then when it was time to leave he insisted we exit by the wrong door.  No amount of talking could convince him he was wrong.  I waited in the air conditioning while he walked around the entire building to our truck.

DH was told Friday that he's being moved to a different department.  He worked in this department for a few years and can't stand the lazy people that spend all day doing nothing.  I feel bad for him but it's a job and a job with good benefits.

I better get to work.  Busy here and it's going to be a long hot, humid week in air conditioning world.

Sorry the meds don't work for you Glenda.

Um yea no begging squirrels here, ours are very aware that when they attempt to eat from the bird feeders a very large, very serious Beast knows their habits, escape exits and wants to catch them. One movement from our back door or garage side door and the scatter LOL

Jackie I am trying not to laugh too hard about your DH walking all the way around the building. And his shopping habits.

We are having a nicer day today weather-wise. First break in the humidity in a quite a while, I despise humidity.

I remained a slug all weekend LOL. I did  a few chores and a few fun things but I just wasn't able to make myself tackle some of the larger jobs that will just accumulate. oh well, life goes on :)

I decided to work from home again - Bugsy is so happy to have me around, I dread the looks I will receive when I head in early tomorrow, he immediately started moping when I jumped into the shower this morning, he equates me showering first thing with going to work.

Which brings me to this? Isn't it amazing how dogs make all these associations?  It definitely fascinates me

Jackie, glad you got some new jeans.  Hopefully the crumb-hunters will keep away from this new pair!

Karen, it is amazing how dogs make those associations.  I had a coworker whose dog knew that her clothes and shoes dictated whether or not he could follow her out to the car when she left the house.  On workdays, when she was wearing a dress or skirt and nice shoes, he knew to stay lounging in his bed.  But on days when she had on jeans and sneakers, if she started to head out, he jumped up and followed her because that meant is was the weekend and she was going somewhere he could join her.  She said it was very hard to explain to him why he couldn't follow her to the car on the rare occasion when she went to work on a weekend in casual clothing!

Glenda, your critters sound like they've done a good job training the new residents, haven't they?!  Your story reminded me of something that happened to my Mom at her old apartment.  She had a sliding door with a screen on her patio, and she was in the habit of tossing out scraps of bread for the birds and squirrels in the backyard.  The squirrels got very brave, coming right up on the patio, close to the door.  One day she knew she was in trouble when she looked up to see one squirrel had started climbing the screen door -- and the glass door was open!  Apparently he was tired of waiting for that morning's treat!

Another gorgeous day here -- supposedly rain is on it's way, but I won't complain.  We need it, and it's been fantastic for a long time.

I re learned my lesson about leaving jeans where the dogs can get them.  Twister was always doing that (he never actually ate the pockets though)  and while he was alive, I was careful to not leave them on the floor.  I got complacent but Rex taught me that if the pockets smell good, the pockets will be eaten.

It doesn't surprise me that dogs are highly aware of what we're doing based on our actions.  That's why they're so good at getting along with people.  They've evolved to be observant as a survival strategy. :)

Lol I have many pockets with holes in them. Lily will try to stick her nose in my pockets as I'm taking my pants off! She doesn't even wait!

Squirrels don't beg in my yard either haha. Cute story.

What a crazy insane busy mess the last week has been. I was gone most of the weekend. The dogs are exhausted. They had fun though. I love having them run with me on the 4 Wheeler. They stick with me at 20 mph. Above 20 and they start to fall behind (I only go that fast for short stretches most of the time it is around 11 mph). They love it. Neiko is so graceful he is beautiful to watch when he is full sprint mode.

I don't think I have ever been more dirty sweaty and smelly as I was this weekend. We were outside playing with dogs non stop. It was near 100% humidity every day and near 90. Plus we had no electricity or running water where we were. So I am so happy to be home so I could turn on the ac. I'm not normally a fan of ac all the time but man oh man it feels good today!
