    Thursday 6-19-14 Chat

I still need a nap. Woke up at 1:00a and flip-flopped until around 3:00p.

After 2 days of heavy rains, we have sunshine! Geeked My tomato plants are growing like crazy.

Speaking of tomatoes, I went grocery shopping the other day and picked up a little container of cherry tomatoes. I selected the one I wanted and when I pulled it off the display, the column it was in started to slide, and then the two columns next to it did, too. So there I am trying to stop all these containers from sliding off the display onto the floor and there are so many that I can't prevent some from hitting the floor. The containers were busting open and tomatoes were rolling around on the floor. Then the next display of the Campari tomatoes started to slide (I swear I wasn't near them) and several of them hit the floor. Three produce dept. employees came over and were trying to pick up tomatoes and stop the rest from falling. It was hilarious and embarrassing all at the same time. Thank doG nobody got out an I-phone and filmed it. Embarrassed

Lol too bad nobody filmed it!

I was up until 3 am last night. So ugh is pretty much how I'm feeling today. The weekend needs to hurry up and get here

    @Jewlieee
The weekend needs to hurry up and get here

    Agreed!

Tina, that experience sounds like something straight out of a comedy.  I would have laughed later, but definitely been embarrassed at the time.

We're having some friends over this weekend and I'm a little nervous.  The one couple is super nice, but we always go to their house, this will be the first time they've been to ours.  And theirs is huge, new, and gorgeous where ours is pretty much the opposite.  I know they won't care, but I still feel anxious about it.  So we'll be doing a cleaning frenzy tomorrow evening and Saturday morning to get it as presentable as possible.  I also get anxious about entertaining anyway b/c I'm always worried people will be bored or in some way unhappy.  Ugh... repeating to myself "It will be fun, it will be fun, it will be fun."  Worst case, there's the 2 bottles of Tequila I brought back from Mexico.... Wink

Tina, the visual from your story is very funny.  Like an episode of the old Lucille Ball show.  At least you weren't reaching for a carton of eggs!!

Steph, I understand the "hosting anxiety" you described.  No matter how much I tell myself that people will have a good time because they enjoy our company (and if we're serving food, DH never cooks a bad meal), I still stress out.  And it is worse if you've been to the other person's house and you know it's fantastic or they're Martha Stewart type hosts themselves.  Serve that tequila and try to relax as best you can!

It's a gorgeous day here -- sunny, due to reach high 70's.  I'm meeting my friend for a sandwich at a little place that has outdoor seating, so I'm excited.  Fresh air, tasty food, and some gossip.  What better way to enjoy a lunch break?  Wink

    Tina thanks for the LOL

I am frustrated. I have a zillion things to do at work however they all are dependent on my having access to one of the systems, I requested the access last Friday and am still waiting. Officially I can't poke them until its been 7 days. Meanwhile I have time on my hands and will be inundated when it finally comes through!

So to bide my time I decided to install Project on my home PC. It wouldn't install and I was to uninstall office and then reinstall it and then try to install project.  Office has been installing for nearly 2 hours and is at 53%. So here I am , twiddle twiddle twiddle.

This morning on our walk we met the GSP pup, he and B are such good buddies. We let them go down to the lake and goodness me did they have fun.

It is screaming hot again today - they promise it should be closer to 90 than 100 tomorrow - been 4 days I think of 98-100. 90-92 will feel nice.

that's all, I really wish I could get some of this work done, I can't do any other chores either because I need to be 'available'

Tina, that is a hilarious visual.  lol  Glad to hear your tomatoes are finally taking off.  Sun and rain equals happy tomatoes.  We have jalapeno peppers coming out our ears.  I think four plants was too many. lol  I've been pickling them but will have to start bringing them to work to see if any of the guys will take them off my hands.

Steph, I'm the same way about having company.  We don't have a lot of company and it's usually family so anyone else makes me stressed.  Drink before they arrive and you won't care.

Only a computer geek would decide to install any software just to fill time. lol   I don't install any software until it's absolutely necessary and even then I procrastinate as long as possible and get DH to do it.  Good luck with that Project Karen.

It's not that hot here lately.  Mid 90's or so but it is humid.  It's summer so nothing new.

Greetings from Minnesota, the land of one lake.  It just keeps raining.  The cornfields are flooding in places that are ditched and tiled, because there is no place that they can drain to.  The ground is saturated.  My boots were soaking before I left the shop yard this morning-no work to day, as I don't believe in mixing electric with water.

Guns is a water dog.  Our local play ground has several ponds now, and he is like a 5 year old in a puddle.  Splashing, zoomies, biting.  He discovered our fish pond, and splashes there.  Training has started.   I don't need him retrieving goldfish.

It is getting close to time to retire.  Customers are the enemy, and it's the same problem over and over.  That and the remodeled and newly staffed office are getting to be too much.  I can't find parts, and apparently every city in S. MN is close enough to each other to be considered neighbors.  I passed on a call today as it involved an hour drive one way by two people to install a $1 part, then an hour back to the next stop.

I did get to save a life though.  I down checked a hot tub given to a family and wired in by FIL that could have killed everybody in it.  Read the directions or call a pro when playing with electricity.  Save me from customers with tools.

Hot yesterday but much better today. I just got back from a walk with the dogs. I'm working on "leave it" when Ronnie sees a rabbit--let's just say it's slow progress! (And we have a ton of bunnies this year!)  He and Mozey get along well and have play fests at least a couple times a day.

We got a bit of rain this morning, which made the garden happy. We need a lot more--the storms seem to go around us, but we'll take it. The early tomato plant has set fruit--yeah!

Tina, your story made me laugh and it sounds just like something that would happen to me!

Steph, company makes me worry a lot, too. I am sure you will have a great time--esp. with 2 bottles of tequila as back up.

Karen, is the software installed yet? It sounds like a major project itself!

Software is not installed - i am irritated to say the least

The system access for work didn't happen either

    bah humbug

    a

And yes summer is hot, thankfully we usually only have a week here or there when it hangs around a hundred. Always makes 90 feel good.

my garden is doing nicely, the cayenne pepper plant is thriving. Two of my tomato plants look very sad no matter what I do, while the other 4 are doing great. Can't figure that out.

Doug it sound like you are having the summer we had last year, I am sorry, however at least it is likely fairly cool.

I want a book to read. A real book. I don't always like reading on electronic devices. I think this confirms my oldness :)

I can't tell you the last time I read an actual in my hands book that wasn't related to work in some way. I do it all digital now. Never thought I would and resisted for so long but just like texting it's just too convenient to ignore.

Sorry about the heat Karen. I know I said it felt like NC today but maybe not quite that hot ;p

Doug you have been talking about the idea of retiring for a while it seems. Maybe it's time to bite the bullet and say good bye to those pesky customers for good! I know I can't wait to retire. It sounds wonderful ;p

It's pretty wet here too. Mushrooms are growing in my back yard.
