Tina, maybe you should pull together a playlist of moon-themed songs and start blasting them out your window while they're working. Let's see, there's "Moon River," "Bad Moon Rising," "Blue Moon," "Moondance," ---- I'm sure I could come up with more!
DH just got a call from the vet. The good news is that Ruby's teeth cleaned up really well, he didn't see any signs of any infection anywhere, no cracked teeth, etc. The bad news is that her two bottom front teeth (we call them her "baby teeth because they are so tiny) are very, very loose. The Xrays show that there is hardly any bone there for the teeth to be rooted to. He said it could be the result of an infection she had long ago (none there now), or it could be a congenital birth defect. DH asked what he would do if Ruby were his dog, and he said he'd remove them. If it were a canine or a major molar, he'd consider alternatives, but these two teeth aren't as vital, and as loose as they are, he suspects they are causing her some discomfort, and will likely come out or get infected one of these days. So, DH told him to remove them.
Hopefully that's the right decision -- the funny thing is we've always thought those teeth were "cute" because they are so tiny compared to her other front teeth. We've never wiggled them or noticed looseness, and she tugs with toys without a problem, but I guess he could see more risk based on the Xrays and being able to handle them much more than she lets us touch her teeth.
So that's the update. She'll have a goofy grin, I guess. Maybe her bark will develop a lisp now!
