Therapy work is so rewarding, there are a few therapy dog organizations out there, not all are the same, but all dogs are required to pass a test and follow certain rules for hospitals, schools, elderly care homes, etc. It is a very rewarding thing to do. You can check with your local dog obedience organizations some of them offer classes to prepare for the test and make sure your dog is a candidate for the job. These dogs are amazing they can offer emotional support during a natural disaster, visit elderly people, make sick children feel better and some work with schools to help children who have trouble reading. The children read to the dogs get more comfortable reading out loud. The nice thing about therapy work you set your own schedule and make people happy.
This is Chase a local therapy dog in our area, he visits a couple nursing homes each week and is a true ambassador for his breed. All breeds are welcome to try out and your dog has to be healthy and at least a year old to take the test.
Good luck!
