    Thirsty Thursday chat

Oh beautiful sunshine!!  I think it's supposed to cloud up later and rain, but for now......yesterday was 55 degrees!  I almost broke out the shorts.  Not quite, but the feet got to stay nekid after I got home from work.

Can't wait for this evening to see the house we like on the inside.  It looks so very nice from the outside!  The last tenant left a lot of outside stuff thrown around but what I've been able to see of the inside, it's *** and span, and freshly painted.  The kitchen is way too small, but shoot, so was the one we had for more than 3 years and I still made things work.......shoot, after cooking in an RV for 3 years..........

OK, really rather mindless this morning aren't I?  Hope everyone has a great day!

Continued thoughts for Gina & family.

Very sad to see the latest shootings at Fort Hood.

Good news, some very dear friends of mine may be in Michigan in May and we are working out getting together!

We in MN are looking at a joyful day.  A possible record April snow fall.  It will be heavy and wet, but it will come with a brisk breeze.  Uff da!!!!.  Rain right now so we can get that nice layer of polished ice down first.

Gunther is 35 lbs, and looking good.  We left him to roam free last night.  You never know until you try.  No puddles, no piles this morning. I heard him come in about 3AM and curl up in the kennel, but later he was on the sofa.

Really liked reading about and seeing Cleos adventures with little animals.  Sometimes you wonder why you do it, but then a pup licks your face and life is better.  Sympathy to Gina and her family.

Wishing you all a happy Thursday. Sunny here in PA today and warming up, the dogs are loving it being outside on the deck today enjoying the sunshine. Going to start spring cleaning soon, yay! Busy evening got some running around to do after work, then Therapy Dog Class tonight.

Saying extra prayers for Gina and Family and the families from Fort Hood.

I've got Gina and her family on my mind.  I know there isn't anything anyone can do or say to ease their pain.  Cleo was one of those dogs that come along once in a lifetime.

Doug, I wish the weather would improve for those of you still dealing with Winter in April.

It's cloudy and mild here today.  The humidity is up but that's going to be the norm for us now that warm weather is here.

Tina, that's so neat about your friends coming to MI.  :)  I hope you can work out the meet up.

I'm itching to get away somewhere but with three dogs and one who wouldn't do well boarding, it's difficult.

The botanical gardens has a new exhibit that I'm dying to go see.  It's birdhouses that are human sized. lol

Jackie, if you get to that exhibit, you've got to share a photo or two.  I can't imagine what they would look like -- sounds cool!

Yes, Cleo was a once-in-a-lifetime dog.  I was telling DH about her passing last night (I used to show him all her photos), and he was sorry to hear the sad news, too.  He asked me how old she was, but I wasn't sure -- was she about 5 or 6?  Not old, that's for sure. Continuing to keep Gina and her family in my thoughts.

The news of the Ft. Hood incident was very sad.  It just seems nearly impossible to have reliable ways to tell if a person is on the verge of resorting to extreme violence.  I feel like professionals in the various mental health jobs and roles may sometimes see hints when someone is suicidal, but unless someone specifically expresses thoughts or desires to hurt other people, how can they know that?  Maybe we just didn't get the news coverage, but it used to seem that suicides by shooting were just that -- a person killing themselves.  But now it seems more often that a person may plan to kill themselves, but they want or need to kill others first.  Why the difference?  How can that be detected in a troubled person?

On a lighter note, I hope the house turns out to be "the one," Glenda.  I'm sure you're eager to get that settled.

Houseguests left this morning -- looking forward to a normal (i.e., quiet) night this evening!

Here is an old thread from Gina about Cleo's 5th birthday being 11-1-12, so I think that would make her 6 years and 5 months old. http://community.dog.com/news_entertainment/general/f/29518/t/119055.aspx

Thanks, Tina.  She was much too young to leave the earth now.  Crying  I remember all those photos -- they made me smile then and now . . . but today it's very bittersweet to see them.  Miss Cleo was such a funny, beautiful, gentle dog.

It also made me a bit sad to see the posts from all the members who we no longer see here.  I hope they're all doing well!

Oh, I agree.  I sure wish they would come back!

I just read the news about Cleo and my heart sank. I loved all the pictures Gina posted, especially  when we got to see Cleo with the kittens. Such a huge loss. (((Gina and her family)))

On a more upbeat note: We had a spring day today! Yeah! The sunshine felt good.

And, my potatoes for the garden arrived! I don't plant them until the first weekend in May, but they're here--it must be spring! Of course, this means I need to get busy and get the garden ready. (That will take me several weekends :-)

And, the Red Sox have their home opener tomorrow night.

From earlier in the week--Tracy, thanks for all your info about everything you tried to help Tonka. The vet had mentioned the anal sac removal surgery back in late Dec./early Jan. when we were in but was hopeful we wouldn't have to go that route. We have our appt. tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes.
