    Tuesday Chat

We've had some rain the last few days. Just in time for Spring. :) The weather is mild here and the sun is supposed to make an appearance today. Tina, how's GingerD doing?

Hey Jackie how are you feeling?

We had 76 and sunshine yesterday,  77 and sunshine today!  We are supposed to get rain tonight but the last couple of days have done a world of good to everyones attitude :)

Jackie, GingerD is doing okay. We are in the learning curve phase - she is testing the boundaries and I am encouraged by how quickly she listens and wants to please. If you asked her, she would tell you I don't feed her enough and that's probably her only complaint. We are up to walking 2 blocks, and she is always happy to go, but it tires her out.

Tracy, I looked at my air purifier and this is what I have: Holmes, HAP9412W-TUA-1

I'm feeling much better, Gin.  The head cold is about gone except for the occasional coughing spell. I'm so glad you're getting a nice warm up, finally!

Tina, Ginger doesn't want to please you.  She wants the treats. lol Silly human. :)  That's what makes a food motivated dog so fun to train.  I'm glad she's learning and walking a little farther.

Hi gang, Jackie glad you are feeling better, my boyfriend had the same thing, not fun.

    Glad to hear about Ginger.

PA is actually very sunny and pleasant today, but lower temps and rain are on the way, possibly some snow but not much thankfully. A friend of mine will be flying in from Florida tomorrow glad she will be landed and safe well before the rain. Have a great day everyone!

I hope your BF didn't pass you the head cold, Michele.  Have fun with your friend.  Hope the weather doesn't get too yucky.

GingerP -- temps in the 70's sound heavenly.  No such luck here.  In fact, it felt like winter was returning this morning.  I know it sounds warm to those of you in frigid areas, but 38-40 feels cold here, and add fog to that . . . I had to wear a scarf and gloves driving in this morning.  Living here so long, I've lost all my New England hardiness when it comes to cold weather.

Tina, thanks for the pic/info about your purifier.  I'm going to look for it on Amazon.  I'll let you know if I get one!

Food motivated dogs are easier to train, but as I remember, GingerD needs to shed a few pounds, right?  Good thing there are treats like those tiny Zuke's, which are only 1 or 2 calories!  I'm glad to hear she's enjoying her walks . . . even if the distance isn't increasing much, a little at a time is great progress for her!

Tracy, I got my air purifier at Target. I waited until it was on sale for $30 or $40. The replacement filters are a bit pricey, but the 2-packs are cheaper and now I found a comparable one that is not the Holmes brand. I think it's Aer or something like that. I don't use mine as much now that Buddy is gone (male cats can really stink up a litter box!), but still useful to have.

You are also correct, GingerD does need to lose a few pounds. Luckily for her, Aunt Jackie sent some treats that are only 3 calories each. When I run out, I'll have to check out Zuke's. She gets them sparingly so that she will do what I ask for just a "good girl" and pat on the head, not only for the food.

I killed an ant today. This could be a good or bad sign depending on how you look at it ;p

I'll check Target's website, too.  It's interesting you mentioned the expensive filters -- my Mom was telling me recently that she bought a small vaporizer/humidifier thing for her bedroom to use this winter, and the filters are not cheap.  She said if you change them as often as they recommend, it could get expensive!  Oh well -- it's worth it to have improved air!

As for GingerD's reduced-calorie diet -- maybe it's a good thing she's a senior and not too agile.  Our friends' Boxer was put on a strict diet (he desperately needed one!).  He was so hungry all the time that he was constantly getting things off the kitchen counters, looking for food.  Once he ate a plate of cookies my friend's daughter had laid out, ready to take to school the following morning.  Imagine how happy he must've been chowing down on those!  I can see him saying to himself, "I'll show them what I think about this crappy diet.  I will eat every one of these delicious cookies!"  Big Smile

Julie, LOL! Ants are probably coming in because their homes are flooded.

Tracy, GingerD has managed to get her paws up on the counter a few times, so despite her age, weight, and arthritis, she's definitely a counter surfer. I learned that in a hurry when she was tempted by the smell of the empty cat food can that I had in the sink about 4 days after she came home. Because I have a cat, I never leave food on the counter, so GingerD is going to have to get up a lot earlier to outsmart me on that front.  Wink

49 glorious degrees here today, with lovely sunshine.  However, snow in the forcast and possibly up to 9 inches?  Seriously?  Enough already.
