    Monday 3-10-14

I don't see any weekend chat or that today's was started. Everyone must have been out enjoying the nice weather. Wink

Doug, the Lugnut sure is growing up. Like you said, he's starting to look more like a dog than a puppy.

I hope Karen and Jackie are feeling better.

    Sorry you guys are sick!

Sar camp this weekend was a lot of fun. My major goal was to work abbie alongside a bunch of other dogs to test her ability to ignore it all and keep working and test my control over her. She did awesome. She got right down to work and ignored everything else. Even on leash, her reactivity bubble was down to only if a dog jumped on her head if she was calm or if a dog got in her face if she was ramped up. That's really awesome considering how huge her bubble used to be.

Anyway, we dog trained a lot and played games at night one night we had an amazing race sar style that included navigation, first aid and silly things like making snow angels and building snowmen. Another night we had an agility competition with scary footing things for the dogs like wobbly boards, a box full of empty water bottles they had to run through, tunnels chutes and stuff. My team took 1st so that was fun :)

The weather had mercy on us, it was mostly above 30 which felt hot at times. Today is supposed to be 50 so I'm looking forward to all this snow melting.

Thanks Tina for starting chat.  I have been so totally out of the loop lately it's not funny.  Work's just been crazy - usually we settle down at the beginning of the year but man, not this year.  No complaints (job security?  nah ...)  cos I'd rather be busy than bored.

Saturday was our 17th anniversary -- that just blows me away.  doesn't seem that long at all & it's all good memories.

Hope everbuddy is feeling way better.

Julie, way to go with Abbie at SAR camp.  It sounds like it was a great weekend.   I can't imagine 30 feeling hot but I guess if you're running around and all bundled up, you might feel warm.

I'm feeling much better.  I practiced napping all weekend.  Got pretty good at it.

    Good job, Abbie!

Happy belated anniversary, Callie & David!  The years do fly by, don't they.  When I say out loud how many years we've been married (22), it sounds like a number someone else (a really OLD person) should be saying!  Surprise

Glad you're feeling better, Jackie.  Sleep sure seems to fix a lot of what ails us!

Speaking of sleep, I didn't get much last night.  Part of it was my usual Sunday night problem of having gotten too much sleep over the weekend and not really being sleepy on Sunday night.  The time change didn't help matters.  But the thing that was really keeping me up was the smell of onions all night.  The vent fan over our stove is LOUSY, and whenever we cook something like onions or frying bacon or pan-searing something "fragrant," the odor hangs in the house way too long.  No matter how I clean the stove and the fan, what I spray in the kitchen . . . . it doesn't help.  If we won the lottery, we would re-model our kitchen and install a commercial sized vent fan.

Tracy, I bought an air purifier for the room where my litter boxes are, but...I've found it helps to run it in the kitchen if I've fried food since my stove vent does not actually vent outside. It's a room-size purifier and I'll let it go an hour or so. Not as good as a proper vent fan, but it helps a lot.

Oooh, thanks for the tip, Tina!  I've always wondered if those things worked, but I haven't heard any first hand reports about them.  Do you know what kind/model yours is?  I'd definitely find room on the kitchen counter for one if it would help.  I don't know if I have a sensitive nose or what ---- but I can't tell you how often kitchen smells will annoy me at night.  Our bedroom is on the first floor, rather close to the kitchen, unfortunately.

Tracy, I'll look at mine tonight and post the info tomorrow. I'm drawing a blank at the moment. Embarrassed

Thanks, Tina!  Gee, when Julie was talking about her alarm clock/light a year or so ago, I got the info about it from her and now I have one myself (I love it).  I'm going to start filling my house with iDog-approved gadgets!  Stick out tongue

Happy Anniversary Callie and David~ Many more to come :)

Tracy I love the iDog Approved gadgets

OK, today was just flat out too long.

Spring forward has it's good sides, but it takes me about a week to know what time it is......

Happy Anniversary David and Callie!  Gosh, we'll be celebrating 31 years in May.

38 here today which was nice, but going to be 50 here tomorrow!!   Wahooooooo!  That will really seem like a heat wave!

Tracy, I'm glad you like the alarm clock :)

Glenda you are getting the weather we had yesterday. 50 degrees felt amazing. Jeans and sweater weather! I got the first layer of dog poop all cleaned up, now I just need to wait for a bit more snow to melt to get the next layer ;p
