    Almost Friday (Thursday) chat

This week has seemed incredibly long already, so I'm celebrating almost Friday!

My thoughts are still with Doug and his wife.

We're supposed to be in a bit of a warming trend.  It would certainly be appreciated if it happens.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I agree, this week has been long....I'm looking forward to catching up on some house stuff, walking the dogs and watching Grey's and Scandal if I can stay awake.

Saying prayers for Doug and his wife too.

We are still kind of chilly here in PA but the sun is really shining today and day light savings is this weekend so more light is good. Spring is coming!

A really close friend is coming in next week I can't wait to see her, looking forward to laughing so much my faces hurts. That's what we do...

Have a great Thursday everyone....be safe

Short yet very productive week for me. I finally made some head way with some resistance at work. I'm pushing for some pretty large sweeping changes and it is like turning a freight liner with a paddle. But I see success on the distant horizon! It will still take years to get where I want to go but every little attitude change in a single person is a win.

We might hit 30 and above this weekend. That will be nice. Hopefully the sun will make an appearance too.

I'm anxiously waiting for my snow shoes to be delivered. I finally broke down and bought some. Will be nice to be able to walk on the snow instead of trying to trek through knee deep and higher snow.

Julie, you'll get your snow shoes just in time for the thaw!

GingerD is a bit of a resource guarder. Last night we had to have the talk about Missy (the cat) not really wanting her rolled rawhide. Ginger is not chewing it, but carries it around. She has growled at Missy a couple of times when she (cat) came close to it. Last night she growled at Missy and then tried to chase her off. So the rawhide is on top of the fridge far out of sight or reach. Missy is fine - Ginger was still on her leash from our walk, so she didn't get far. Missy promptly gave her the stink eye.

The good news is that I think Ginger understands that even though I leave for work, I am coming back. The first week, she would bark incessantly every time I left. The last two days, she's quietly gone right to her bed. Knock on wood.

I'm up to my eyeballs in work, so I'd best get back to it.

Hi -- I have to apologize .  Been unbelievably slammed at work and still some sciatica major issues (better but still coping) so any extra effort has to go to work (I'd like to keep the paychecks coming?? *sheesh*)

Charlie's had a few more "eye issues"  - nothing serious just more time at the eye vet.

Interesting development -- the other morning about 5 a.m. David was getting ready for work, and   Tink appears and does her polite little "inside 'boof"  that indicates some NEED for human action (like "out";).  He put her off cos in 5 minutes he'd be letting them out anyway.  She wasn't giving up & continued to 'boof' politely .   But he noticed she was 'twitching'  like mad (which often happens when she's absorbed in something)..  He gave her an "In a minute, girl!" answer.  She continued to stare a hole in him ... and next thing he knows ... *I*  woke up in mega leg spasms (they're way fewer on this new med but still occur some)

SHE was already in the bedroom with me.  David was totally struck by the coincidence.  Talked to the vet -- it's more than possible Tink's likely sensing  the onset of*my* muscle spasming  simply because they are so neural that she's picking up on the same type of electro-magnetic weirdness that an assistance dog  does for seizure patients.  And since Tink already deals with her own "twitching"  she'd probably be sensitive to it in me.

If so that would be incredible if we can shape this response.  So far it doesn't seem to wake her up and my muscle crap typically happens between 3:30 a.m. and  5:00 a.m..

    She's a surprising dog.

    Gotta dash.

    @Michele68
I can't wait to see her, looking forward to laughing so much my faces hurts. That's what we do...

Michele, I can totally relate.  I have only a few friends who create this kind of laughter in my life, and sadly most live 3,000 miles away.  But I will see them in April when I go back to CT for a visit, and I can't wait to have a facial muscle workout.  Usually side muscles and tear ducts are involved, too!  It is so good for my soul.

Tina, I'm glad to hear that GingerD is feeling secure and calm when you go to work (isn't it amazing how quickly some dogs learn a routine?).  I hope the "disappearance" of Missy's bone is enough to control the guarding issue.  GingerD -- you don't want any cat scratches on your pretty face!

Callie, good to "see" you.  I was hoping you weren't being laid up by back problems when we didn't hear from you for a while.  I sent you an email a couple weeks ago, but I may have used a bad address.  As for Tink's picking up on your spasms, it makes sense if you think about the dogs that can detect epileptic episodes, low-blood sugar in diabetics (although I guess that can be a scent, not an energy wave thing?).  It would be cool if you could shape Tink's behavior for that!

Heavy, heavy rain and wind last night and this morning.  Woke up at one point during the night thinking the roof would blow off.  Driving over the bridge this AM, my car was jostling from the wind gusts!

Forgot to say -- Julie, your mention of snow shoes reminded me of something I saw on the news the other night.  They were covering this activity in MN where people use kites to "ski" on the frozen lake -- wind skiing or something like that.  One man interviewed was 80 years old and had been doing it since he was 68!  I told DH it looked like fun, and more to my liking since I don't like the danger (i.e., speed) involved in downhill skiing or snowboarding.  DH said, "Uh . . . did you hear the guy say they can go up to 60 MPH?!"  I said, "Yes, but maybe you'd go slower if you had a very small kite!"  I like that it's wide open, flat space -- not a hill with twists and turns and obstacles.  Anyway, it looked like a lot of fun!

Lol ice boating! Yes people do it here. They attach a kite or big sail to what is essentially a board/boat thingy and away they go. Very dangerous as stopping is rough and you have to wear a helmet. People are nuts. I would never do it!

I figure by buying my snow shoes it would bring about spring Tina. So if spring comes next week you know who to thank :p

The birds are singing more and more this week. That's a great sign. I even heard a red wing black bird today on msu campus. Those are considered the spring bird here. Too bad everything is still frozen. Poor things are probably annoyed lol

I saw robins at the office last week.  Poor things were probably trying to decide if it was worth another flight South!

Callie great to see you, and yes I do believe in Tinkerbell's Fairee Senses :)

Sorry you and Charlie are having a tough time,

Julie...thank you for buying snow shoes...:)  it was 50 today!!!  Ice is starting to melt.

Ginger D, you must be nice to Missy, you need to be friends.  Tina the only time I have ever heard Hot and Rock growl is when they have found an old bone and there is only one.  I have more than once taken a bone away and put it out of sight for ever.  They don't fight they just get a little snarky.
