We are on the brink of another ice storm. They are predicting 1/4 inch. Things could get ugly with all the existing snow out there. If my power goes out I will be upset!

I'm giving a couple informal chat type presentations today to a bunch of hs girls at the Michigan woman's historical museum. We are supposed to talk about taking on careers in science and engineering. Hopefully the girls will be excited to be there because I am tired as all get out. I took a Sudafed last night around 5 and it kept me up all night. I probably only got a solid hour of continuous sleep. I need a good audience to keep my brain moving today.

Before I do all that though I need to go outside and rake the roof again before this freezing rain starts. If I don't there will be major roof leakage going on.

Ice storm, schmice storm.  Bring it on. Lightning

I need to stop looking at Pet Finder.

I hope your presentations go well Julie.  Sounds like fun if you can keep your eyes open.   Sorry your weather is still so crummy.

Nothing much going on here.  I heard that the sweet looking old Lab has a potential adopter.  Fingers crossed that it works out.

I'm hungry and didn't bring my lunch.  I ate two yogurts but that didn't help.  I am glad that I've gotten back in the groove of exercising.  Desperately needed to do that for my physical and mental health.

Jackie that woman who has so "changed her stripes" ... I'd be looking behind me as well.

Tina - you and me both - I can **not** look on Petfinder.  It just tears me up too much.  I mean dogs just find their way to us anyway without having to "look" but  it's just too difficult.

Nothin much new here except David gave me an I-Phone for Valentine's ... and I think I've reached the "I must be totally stupid"  area.  I will learn, but this particular learning curve  is a doozy.  Just trying to *answer*  the phone is almost technologically overwhelming LOL.

In the first 5 minutes I looked up at David and I said "Steve Jobs was apparently left-handed??".   that swipe "left to right" thing makes absolutely no sense to me.  David IS left-handed so he didn't get my point.  But looking it up?   Yep, Mr. J was left-handed.  I suspect my life will be easier if I use my left hand to operate it.  Yes - this is me "over-thinking" LOL (this is ALL me laughing at me ... no complaint cos it "is what it is" -- but man I feel dense!!)

I never look on Petfinder but my FB feed is always full of dogs needing homes.  Sometimes it's so overwhelming that I have to not look.   Do it, Tina.  You deserve to have a dog and some dog deserves to have you as it's owner.  I

I've gotten really good at Swyping.  I like my smartphone but it's an android.  I'm not going to the dark side, ever. :)

Callie, you sound like my friend who recently got an iPhone after using a Blackberry for years.  The outgoing message for her voice mail says something like, "I can't take your call right now.  Leave a brief message, and I'll return your call if I can figure out how to retrieve messages off this crazy iPhone."  Stick out tongue  I laugh every time I call her.

Julie, I can sympathize with feeling sleep deprived.  Every night this week, I've awakened between 2am and 3am and haven't been able to fall back to sleep until about 30 minutes before the alarm goes off.  It's awful to have to try to focus on work when you're feeling so tired.  Hopefully you'll get a burst of energy when you see their eager faces in the audience!

Another rainy, blustery morning here.  I was thinking as I drove in that there sure are a lot of dedicated dog-walkers in this area.  I saw 3 dogs being walked in the rain, with the owners covered in various types of wet-weather outerwear.  Actually, even without dogs, the rain doesn't stop most people from doing whatever they normally do outside -- jogging, bicycling, walking, etc.  I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone pushing a stroller in the rain.  I wonder if the child is thinking, "This sucks, Mom.  Aim this thing towards home, pronto!"

I guess my extreme busy-nes caused me to miss out on the spamming trolls lol. Lucky me :) Callie, I know Tink and Rock are about the same age but it sure doesn't seem like it could be 6 years. That poor little sad scared pug...now she rules the roost, so to speak. Pixie dust all around please :) Also I got a big laugh out of your "smart" phone update. I am also left handed, maybe I could handle it. Or not. Jackie I am with you.. subliminal to Tina "get a dog, get a dog". :) I was watching PetFinder and passing on Berner's in shelter and foster home. I have to remind myself that 2 is plenty for our household. Julie I hate that you are having to rake your roof.

I'd start a new thread but don't think many of you guys would see it.  I saw this earlier today.  You'll need a tissue but it's so worth the read.  Makes me feel very thankful.

I too have been having those nocturnal  waking episodes all darned week.  And I'm sorry but two halves of a nights sleep do NOT make a whole!

Yeah, I'd be looking over my shoulder with that gal too, Jackie.

And, Tina, right there with you.  Shoot, I have trouble not rushing down to adopt the critters the two local shelters send me weekly for our shelter pet page!  And of course, THIS month the main shelter is doing a Love a pittie campaign!

I love my smart phone, which isn't an iphone but a samsung III mini.  However, I will agree that the learning curve is UNreal!  There are still tons of things I haven't had the time to figure out yet and I've had the darned thing since November!  Part of that is simply time and what isn't that important doesn't get any more than I can spare, but still......On mine at least I can swipe either direction and it comes up.  But, the keyboard is just tooooo tiny for any major emailing.....

We had 2 beautiful warm sunny days -back to back.  Roads were dry and clear.  This morning, it was cloudy.  That changed over to rain, but still warm.  Then it cooled off a bit and it was sleet and ice.  Now, it is snow, coming sideways.  Schools started announcing closings last night-some superintendents are really hoping this hits hard, as we have had a lot of snow days and parents are really getting tired of seeing their kids.  It is supposed to be a full out blizzard.  Uff da!!!

Pup is growing up.  He now looks like a small dog.  Proportions are changing, muscles are developing.  He is going to be beautiful, if I let him survive.  His taste in boots is getting expensive, and leashes are treats.

Penny cats picture popped up on my computer desktop this morning.

Jackie - that story was beautiful and so meaningful. I'll be sharing it in a few different places. I hope I can keep the message in my mind and heart going forward too.

Count me in with the tired crowd but I'm not sure why. Sudafed is a no-no for me. It makes me jittery and spaced out but unable to sleep. Yuck!!

Tina - we'd love to help you name your new dog ;)

Super busy today and with so many different things it has my head spinning.  The new girl, Teresa, was almost crying when we chatted this morning. I just hope she can start soon. Since she works for our business services office, we have to play nice with not pulling her before they find a replacement but they've been known to drag their feet. It'd sure be nice to have help with our office move on March 4th but that's not likely.

I really want some chocolate this afternoon and the only candy I have is lifesavers and some taffy left over from Halloween.

    • Gold Top Dog
Sending you some chocolate kisses, and 1 McDonalds fresh baked Chocolate chip cookie :) I am not a big fan of McDonalds but....I love their Choc Chip Cookies
    • Gold Top Dog

Ginger, why did you have to tell me about those cookies?  I rarely go to McDonald's, so I didn't know they had them.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) there's one in walking distance from my office, so I may find my feet leading me there one of these days!

I'm waiting to check out that link from Jackie until I get home so I can be Kleenex-ready.

Doug, it's fun to vicariously experience the joys of a young puppy through your stories.  I'm not sure I could handle all that "excitement" (especially potty training during a brutal winter)!

Cathy, when I worked at a big hospital, we used to deal with that kind of thing when people transferred to different departments.  The department losing the great employee wasn't always as cooperative as they could be when arranging for the transition.  One employee that came into our accounting department from the IT department had to work split shifts in both places for a while because they just couldn't deal with losing her completely until they found the ideal replacement.

    @Tracy....oopsie :)
