    Saturday Chat

Sunny and cold here. The ice yesterday caused a bunch of accidents. Why do people think they can hit their brakes or accelerate on icy roads? We had a nice evening out last night. We went to our favorite restaurant and ate something we'd never tried. It was delicious. It's called Camarones Agua Chile. :) Nothing much planned for today. Maybe a trip to the park when it warms up a little. Sorry for no paragraph breaks.

heat wave here!  It's already 14 degrees.  Of course it feels like -1.....but since we're supposed to get up to 27 today so it can snow at least there is a chance of actually feeling like its a little warmer!

We haven't had the non-stop cold that some places have, or the really heavy snows and i'm ready for spring.  Can just imagine how people who are really getting blasted feel.

I witnessed an accident last night when I was on my way home and stopped to be sure that the old guy was ok.  He seemed not to be, shaking so badly he couldn't hold his phone,   I asked if he'd like me to stay with him until the police arrived and he wanted me to, so......made me feel good to be able to help him, especially since yesterday had been an overall negative day.  They did take him to the hospital so I hope he'll be ok.  He was broadsided crossing an intersection....the other car blew threw a red light....tried to tell the police that he entered the intersection on a yellow..  Nope, he was driving on the cross street, the older man and I were on opposite sides of the same traffic light.....which was green.  It doesn't turn green until the other light is red.  I really am glad that I stopped because the older man was really shook and the young guy was trying to lie.  I didn't have a horse in the race so my account wasn't worthless.

Suppose I should haul out the shorts to enjoy our little heatwave......

My sons 40th birthday party last night.   Now, I feel old.  And, apparently, I am married to an old woman although she assures me that 30 isn't old.

The pup with no name is learning.  When he meanders over to the door, it's a good idea to open it.

We were looking at vacuums today.  The 15 year old Riccar died.  Good grief.  They wanted $1300 to replace it.  I put my electric test meter on and the cord has a broken wire inside the plastic covering.  When I jumpered a line to the motor, it started right up.  New cord is $11.95, and is on the way.

I'm just going to post to this thread for Sunday chat since starting a new one is a pita. Some friends and I were joking that we needed a southern spring break vacation but then realized that it is cold down south too. Booo!

I have to get out of the house today despite the crappy weather.  This winter is driving me bonkers. And I'm almost out of coffee. That could be a tragedy.

I got an estimate to install new flooring throughout the house. I'm afraid to look at it.

Julie, we've warmed back up here.  It was 65 yesterday and will be 70 today.  They say mid week we'll get colder.  Sun shining outside is calling me outdoors.  I wish you could hop on a plane and come down.  I'd even buy you a coffee. :)  I hope the flooring estimate doesn't make you pass out.  Have you had any luck with the insurance and police reports?

DH is making breakfast and then I'm off to the grocery store.  Play time after that, I hope.

70 sounds so relaxing. I'm jealous. And tired of staying indoors!

A police detective did finally call me back but I missed the call and he was leaving for vacation so we never did talk. So I talked to the ins. Co and they said that what was on the police report as it was would be OK. So far they paid for the door. I haven't received payment for the missing stuff yet but they say it's coming. We'll see!

Anyone have experience with laminate and dogs?

    • Gold Top Dog

Julie, we had laminate in our family room in the other house and the dogs did fine with it, but if yours don't like slippery floors, you'll need a lot of runners.

We got about 4 inches of snow yesterday, and now its bitter cold again..  Four degrees, feels like minus 9.  The bright sunshine doesn't make it feel warmer today.

Have to go to another bridal show this afternoon.  They are a great place to get leads, but I'm soooo not into it today.

Mike would have been 36 years old today.  I miss my son.

why the heck do I have to login every.single.time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still cold here but the sun is shining so it is warming swiftly. I can't recall a string of such cold weather since we moved here 10 yrs ago! It is supposed to be ridiculously cold again later this week too. I don't actually mind when it's sunny but yesterday was awful; cloudy, super windy and cold. Still feeling chilled

I am dreading tomorrow - not because it is Monday but because it is the beginning of a long stretch of weeks in which I will need to be up and moving at 5 am to get B walked and me out the door by 6:30 ish. I don't mind when I have a day a week that I don't have to do that but gosh it drains the life out of me to do it week after week.

Comedic routine of the day. I asked B if he wanted to help me give water and food to the birds, of course he was very happy to do so (this question means something to him although I do not know what).

So I go out with two pitchers of water for the birds, he nearly knocks one of them out of my hand in his urgency to get out there. Great start. I continue to fill the feeders and notice he is digging for moles. I go inside and get peanut butter to put on a pine cone for the birds. I am now walking back outside with a very sticky peanut butter covered pine cone. At the instant I am walking out, I see he grabs a mole from the ground.

So there I am with a peanut butter pine cone and in great need to put gloves on to get the mole off him. I put the pine cone in a tree, go over to get the mole off him, the pine cone falls down at the moment he drops the mole. I turn to pick up the pine cone and he picks the mole back up. So, screw the pine cone, better get the mole. He drops the mole and as soon as I get near it he runs over and grabs the pine cone and starts eating it. (meanwhile I am freezing as I have no coat on and it's about 20). I hurry and grab the mole and toss it to their 'graveyard' and now have to run over to him to prevent him from eating the entire pine cone.

With some resistance I get the remainder of the pine cone out of his mouth and drag him in the garage. DH then opens the door to the kitchen so B rushes in with clumps of dirt on his feet and a face full of dirt and peanut butter. Sigh.

seriously. I should add that I am having some sinus trouble or something because my eyes are super swollen each morning. I don't think it could be from the surgery but it seems weird. Getting the stitches out on Tuesday, can't wait!

Hi! It's Lisa. I created a new username :)!!!! Missed talking to everyone on here!!

    • Gold Top Dog

Hi Lisa!  Nice to see you here!  Love your avatar pic. :)

    • Gold Top Dog

Karen -- trust me I feel the frustration but I gotta say you made me laugh!

We're behind Texas -- I think it's about 60 today.  Not stellar for the spring breakers soon to start, and a bad accident at a race at Daytona yesterday sent 2 drivers to the hospital (and it's probably a miracle they're alive).

Lisa that is such a good picture of Riley & Charlie.

Yesterday the dogs got groomed and so did I (that always cracks Wally, my hairdresser, up -- probably knows it doesn't affect his tip LOL)

I had a fender-bender 2 weeks ago and yes, it was my fault.  She did something unbelievably **stupid** but I rear-ended her and in pretty much any state that is "AT fault".  So much for being in a "hurry" that morning..  Unfortuantely  the car I hit was full of "vacationers"  (who didn't speak English?  Really?  they were when *I* got to  the car!) who didn't have their kids belted in the back seat, so they each got a cash payoff  of a tidy sum to sign a release and go away.  I inow **why** Progressive did that but it angers me when people lie.  I was doing all of 4-4 miles an hour --  just enough to trash the bumpers a bit.

So today I get to go to "traffic school" online (to avoid points and  my ins. going up).  Oh joy -- 4 hours of my life I'll never get back, but hey -- at least I don't have to GO there and can do it online.  yuck. but it will remind me not to be a putz

Callie, I'm glad your accident was just a fender-bender.  Despite the frustrating situation with the other car's passengers, at least you were at a slow speed and didn't aggravate your back issues when you collided with them.

Glenda, I'm sure today was a sad day for you.  I'm also sure your sense of loss and missing Mike is present all the time, no matter what day of the year it is, but some days have to be harder than others.  Hugs to you.

Karen, your story was so well told --- I could imagine it like I was there in person.  I'm sorry I was laughing at your expense, but it really was a funny story!  Too bad it wasn't caught on video -- it would be a viral sensation, for sure.  Bugsy, doesn't a peanut butter pinecone taste better than a mole?!

And finally --- Hi, Lisa!!!  So nice to "see" you!  I miss seeing you here (I'm not on FB).  I hope all is well with you and your family.  If you have a chance, please post a pic or two of Riley; I bet she's so grown up since I last saw a photo!
