Mindless Tues

    Mindless Tues

Karen, how did the skin thing go today?

My house is snap cracking and popping due to the extreme cold again. It's the weirdest thing. I imagine this must go on in alaska though all the time.

It's a good day to be staying home. I filled up the bird feeders so the poor things get some energy.

We are getting some nasty weather here in Northeast PA, wow its really coming down! I filled up my bird feeders this morning the little guys really need the help this time of year!

-18º  F this morning.  Pup looks cute in his little winter coat.  Trips outside with him are short duration, then he head o for the steps, sits and stares at the door.

His name is now "Auggie", or "Augustus" for formal serious talks.  Piper is relaxing a bit, he follows her around nose to butt.  Just bought a large jug of Natures Miracle for use in the carpet cleaner.

We feed the birds.  Have you priced out bird feed lately.  For some of the mixes, steak would cost less.

Sparrows, Grackles, some finches, the big pigeons, and the occasional  hawk. mixed in with a couple of Blue Jays and a family of Cardinals that live here year round, seem to enjoy the place.

Karen, good thoughts for your surgery.

It was -2 here at 8:00a. I offered to drop DS at work on my way in, but that was an hour earlier than he had to be there, so he said he'd walk. I hope he bundled up. That's a long 1.25 miles in this cold.

I'm feeling better. It started with a sore throat and is ending with a sore throat with congestion in between.

Unfortunately the squirrels pig out at my bird feeders. I have 4 regulars, Larry, Moe, Curly, and Shemp.

I have an appointment for a massage after work tonight. I received 5 gift certificates for them at Xmas, so putting one to use!

Tina, sounds like you hit the jackpot with all those massage gift certificates this year!  You'll be able to get through the whole year with massages to look forward to every couple months!

My Mom is gearing up for a snow storm in CT coming in later today.  We've got cold temps, but sun this AM . . . Oddly, the fog seems to have taken a leave for some reason.

Doug, I like the name Auggie!  Sounds like the potty training is going well.  I think we've largely contributed to Nature's Miracle profits over the years.  That stuff is great.

Karen, I hope your procedure goes well today.  My friend had the same thing done 2 years ago.  Her spot was on her hairline, too.  I wonder if that's a common area.  I guess we miss that area when we apply sunscreen on our faces.

Better get to my To Do list.  Warm thoughts for you folks in the snowy cold areas!

a massage sounds wonderful. i should probably schedule one soon.

i haven't had bird food out in several months so the birds need time to discover there's actually food there again. The house finches found it already, of course. I'm waiting for the blue jays, cardinals, wood peckers and chickadees. I think the blue jays and chickadees are my favs. The blue jays are entertaining because they line up in the trees and come one by one to the feeder. It's like they have some sort of pecking order. At the feeder, they will pick up peanuts one by one and weigh them before deciding which peanut to actually fly away with. Kind of cute.

Julie, I forgot to ask if you watched the new Sherlock.  I watched it last night.  It was so good!  I'm glad I had it on the DVR.  I had to rewind it a couple times because the dialogue was so fast that I missed key lines (the accents added to some of my confusion, too).  Can't wait for the next episode!

Tina - a massage can be heavenly!!

Charlie's cloudy eye is all inflamed (he sees out of it but it's always going to be cloudy apparently) so David took him to Animal Eye this morning.  so the boy is back on pred drops 3 times a day for a week and the salt ointment 3 times a day for a week **and** the Timolal (pressure drops).   Puir wee mite -- I hate to see the eye so sore but they couldn't find a scratch or any "thing" wrong.

My office is too warm (even tho it's not 'cold' here they have  the heat on because people think it needs to be on) ... makes me soooooooooooooooooooo  zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sweepy

I did watch sherlock!! Loved it. My family is from england and scotland so i barely hear the accents in the show. Sounds fairly normal to me. I did think the show was a bit light hearted compared to the previous episodes.

I also watched Downton Abbey right before that. Great night for TV :)

Just arrived at the 'skin center' very swish lol

DH was pacing at home, which was making Bugsy crazy so I said , "ok let's leave early"

Tracy part if what peeves me is I have never  been a sun worshiper and as a kid always had a hat on (baseball) and even now wear hats and wear sunscreen. This is the 3rd spot I think , but the first that needs more than the initial removal or protocol.

Brrr for all of you in deep winter. We were 65* yesterday! 'risk' of storms later means the schools are already canceling things.  Cold is coming in a hurry so it may be single digits overnight and a high in the 20's tomorrow. Cool now but sunny.

    Sigh. I am bored already

Karen, in one of those "life isn't fair" examples, I've had squamous cell carrcinoma cut from my leg, and I'm the last person to be considered a risk.  I've got dark hair, dark eyes, I am not an outdoors person at all, I live where the sun shines about 8 weeks a year, and I have only taken a vacation to a sunny or beach location twice in my life.  I've used high SPF sunscreen for years, too.  Yet I have friends who bake in the sun every chance they get, with no problems yet (other than faces that look older than mine).

At any rate, I hope they get clear margins quickly with minimal layers for you!

Oops, forgot to send some good wishes to Charlie for his eye!

got the all clear and a huge bandage on my head - not huge in surface area, it's a pressure bandage so it sticks out of my head a bunch.

I have to train in the morning, will be an interesting look

    :)

Callie I apologize - I hope Charlie's eye clears up with no damage!

    • Gold Top Dog

Yeahhhh for the all clear.  Good wishes Charlie and that eye.  Anything else, I already forgot.

Bloody HECK it is cold here.  The highest I know it got today was SEVEN.  I don't want to know what the wind chill is.  Thank goodness for natural gas and not having to worry about how much propane is left in the tank!

    Wishing everyone WARMTH!

    @glenmar
    Yeahhhh for the all clear.

I agree; that's great news!!!!   Sending healing vibes for Charlie's eye.

So many of us are in the deep freeze, and for our area we've tied the record for the third snowiest January and the month is only half over. I stopped feeding the birds years ago because no matter what kind of feeder I bought, the squirrels found a way to get into it and they can empty a feeder pretty quick. It was too expensive and frustrating.

I don't know how many of you saw the news about the fatal shooting at Purdue University. DH got his master of physics from Purdue and worked for the university for several years. DD got her bachelor of biochemistry from there as well, so this story hits close to home for us.
