    Mlk day chat

See post below (sorry but don't know any other work around for the forum bugs)

Did everyone have a good weekend? It was way too short for me and I didn't get any sleep in mornings. Boo,!

Abbie and I did pass our last level 3 sar test though so that was awesome. We can now go on searches together. My actual certification test won't be until this spring (it takes a while to get those organized). But Yay. This was a lot of hard work. Stress frustrations etc. But great learning and a bit of fun too :)

My door is still getting fixed. The guy is having a heck of a time with this cold weather.

I would love for winter to be over with tomorrow

Weekend went by fast for me, too.  They always do, but some seem faster than others.

Congratulations, Julie to you and Abbie for passing the SAR test.  Well done!  Knowing how much commitment and energy it takes just to work with a dog for regular good behavior as a house pet, I can't imagine how much work it was for you to reach this goal.  That's really great!

I should be in a worse mood than I am about the Patriots loss yesterday, but I actually expected them to lose, so I'd kind of accepted disappointment before the game even started.  It was actually pretty amazing they got as far as they did, given how many players they lost to injuries (and murder charges!) so early in the season.

We went to a great restaurant in Portland Saturday night for a joint birthday dinner with a couple friends.  Very hip and urban compared to our local spots (had to put on a nicer outfit and fix my face and hair more than usual!).  It was in a hotel right downtown -- a really modern type boutique hotel.  There was a bar on the 15th floor with an outdoor patio.  Despite the temps in the 30's, we went outside for a few minutes to admire the fantastic views of the city (there was no fog in Portland).  Definitely a place to go back to in the summer.  The dinner was delicious -- I had pork loin with a bourbon peach sauce, DH had a mixed grill plate with quail, rabbit, and wild boar, and our friends had special cuts of beef.  All locally sourced ingredients, and the room we sat in was their actual pantry -- shelves of all canned veggies and fruits.  Pretty cool.

Some sun is peaking out today --- it's not due to last, but I'm very grateful for the glare on my computer screen right now!

Congrats Julie on Abbie passing her SAR cert test.   You sure have worked hard on it and I know you must be so glad to finally be done with this part.  I really admire all the SAR people for what they do.  Having read a few books on the subject and from what you've shared it's a tough job that pays nothing except in the form of satisfaction for helping give a family closure if possible.

Tracy, that place you ate sounds so nice.  I'm glad you had a nice birthday celebration dinner.

We've got lots of sunshine and mild weather here if anyone needs to escape the bad weather.  I wish I wasn't at work so I could enjoy it.

I was sick all weekend.  Sore throat, stuffed up head, headache. Bleh.

    Congrats Julie and Abbie!

I watched the Broncos/Patriots game. What a downer. The Patriots seemed to have caught something from the Lions. LOL

I'm jealous of your weather, Jackie.

I didn't watch either playoff game.  I might watch some of the Super Bowl so I can make snacks and eat them. :)

way to go Julie and Abbie!!

Tina, sorry you were sick, and hope you're feeling better.

DH watched the Bruins and Patriots lose yesterday.  Thankfully he rarely does THAT!

Congratulations, Julie and Abby! What a great accomplishment for all your hard work.  Ditto to what Jackie wrote--I have lots of respect for the SAR teams and the work you do.

Feeling sick does not sound fun! I hope you feel better, Tina.

Tracy, that dinner sounds wonderful. Yumm!

The Patriots' game was no fun to watch, that's for sure. And, it's time to get ready for another snow storm and some really cold weather. The shovels are ready. I got two+ cords of wood delivered--I'm not even close to finish stacking it yet, but I'll get there.

    Congrats to Julie and Abby!

Thankfully I've avoided any illness (knocking on wood)

The weekends go so fast. Spent the weekend with friends, I had the dogs out Sunday for a nice walk, Then its Monday again. Getting ready to head out for my fitness class "yay" keeping up with my New's Years Resolution so far doing well.

Have a good evening everyone, stay warm, suppose to get chilly here in PA again!

I don't have any personal interest in any of the remaining NFL teams but was very sad to see the officials being so one-sidedly bad in the San Fran/Seattle game. I love to see good games decided by the teams not bad officiating

    Tina sorry you are ill

Tracy glad you had a lovely dinner

Julie I am so proud of you and Abbie, great stuff

Weather was gorgeous today. I have been fighting a little bit of a cold or so and feel like I could sleep for ages but I didn't.

I met a friend and we took the dogs for a long walk. It makes me happy to see him still being so crazy and energetic. He wore that poor 2.5 yr old out LOL

He also had a mighty goose chase in frigid water. Shaking my head, he has such a one track mind

I am having a minor procedure tomorrow to remove an area of skin. I had a teeny dot on my head in October and they removed it. Came back a basal cell carcinoma. Used some cream, had it retested, still showed cancer cells. So tomorrow its some surgery where they take layer by layer off until it's clear. I have had some weird dreams about being scalped LOL (it's on my hairline) So silly but clearly my subconscious isn't laughing

OK sitting at my desk with loads to do

Julie a BIG CONGRATS to you and Abbie. Way to go. Karen, here's hoping they get a clean srape on the first layer. Going back into the deep freeze again. Just hope all are listening to the warnings and bringing their pets in. We recently had a puppy mill problem here in NY state with the dogs being left outside without the proper shelter.
