    Wed-nes-day 1-15-14 chat

Sad news locally - an 18 y.o. college student disappeared in the early hours of Sunday morning after leaving a frat party. He was found dead yesterday not far from where he'd been.

Doug, I forgot to say "Congrats" on your newest family member! Puppy breath...Big Smile

The abused/starved dog stories are depressing. What I would do to their humans (and I use this term lightly). Super Angry

Our 3 - 6 inches of snow only ended up being about an inch with some drifting.

    Full moon tonight.

Tina, that's sad about the college kid.

Karen, I know what you mean about the dogs in need on FB.  It's heartbreaking to know how casually some people take dog ownership.  The people who abuse dogs or children should be locked up for a long time.

Gabby stole a hard boiled egg off my coworkers desk.  Let the counter surfing begin. :(

    Go gabby lol

We were on the way to search for that kid when he was found. Very sad. Unfortunately that has happened several times here at msu.

Our warm spell seems to have ended. Boo!

I block out all the animal abuse stories on fb. It is too depressing.

About to try another shot at getting a hold of the detective. Wish me luck. I need it!

Good luck, Julie.  That's so frustrating that you can't get in touch.  Years and years ago our office was broken into.  We had a similar problem trying to get anyone to return our calls.  We finally had to go down to PD headquarters.  We found out in advance from a secretary what time the detective we wanted to talk to came into the office.  When I saw the stack of files on his desk it kind of made sense why he wasn't returning our calls.  Talk about work overload. He was a really nice helpful guy once we talked to him.  Not  that anything ever got accomplished as far as catching the perps but we did get the paperwork we needed.

Julie - ugh -- I  am so sorry it's turned into such an ordeal.  It's one reason I suggested the certified letter - if they know you're already collecting information *in case* it can speed things up.  Keep track of your call attempts.

I thot I was crazy seeing so much more in the way of horror stories -- it's really tough to see and deal with.

Jackie - I hope that egg wasn't her lunch. That could make Ms. Gabby a tad unpopular LOL.

Sorry -- back to work.  We still haven't slid off the insanely huge work load since before the Holidays. But it pays the bills -- who am I to complain.  sheesh

Tina, that's so sad about the college student.  I'm assuming he died from exposure in the cold -- not that he was assaulted or something, right?

Good luck, Julie.  Sounds like it's time to pull out all the stops and make a little more noise about the whole thing (assuming you haven't done so already).  I know they probably have a zillion cases to address, but it's not like you're making demands on week #1 --- it's 3 weeks, for Pete's sake!

Hey Gabby, if I were going to steal a co-worker's lunch, I'd try to find something more appealing than a hard boiled egg!  Wink

I think I told you guys about our water line leak -- it started just before Thanksgiving, and between the holidays and freezing temps we had into December, repairs got delayed.  The final solution is having to hand-dig a new water line in from the meter to the house.  Hand-digging is needed due to all the utilities in the ground in that area.  After consulting with the plumbers, line-borers, and landscape guy, we agreed to having a tree taken down.  The roots are in the way of the line and will cause problems if they haven't already.  Digging/cutting some roots would compromise the tree, so it's unsafe to leave it.  Good thing we hate that tree anyway -- but I did alert the neighbors in our cul-de-sac, because they might get a little upset at seeing it come down (along with the other repair mess this week).

So, we're only 2 weeks into the new year, and we've already totally blown our annual yard and home repair budget.  Between that, and some medical and dental stuff both DH and I need to have done, it's a good thing we didn't have any expensive vacations or anything planned.  Ugh.

Right now the information states that no foul play is suspected. I haven't heard anything further.
