    Tuesday Chat

Those enduring the terrible weather, I hope things improve soon. Not much going on at work. I'll be leaving early to have lunch with a friend. Then home to catch a nap. I hardly slept last night but of course when the alarm went off this morning I was sound asleep. I can hardly keep my eyes open. zzzzz

Happy Christmas Eve to all who celebrate! I am expecting my daughter and family in from FL today, and my son and family will be paying a few visits over the next couple days, so it will be mayhem around here with 4 little ones! But I really do enjoy seeing the grands all together...Buffy, not so much! The noisy, active kiddos make her want to hide!

I'm working until noon today. It's pretty quiet in the office.

Buddy's vet visit went well enough. He's lost about 1.25 lbs since his last visit in August. That's not good. He's a big cat, frame-wise. We couldn't get urine, but the vet put him on an antibiotic and we'll keep trying. His appetite hasn't been normal, but he ate pretty well this morning. I was thrilled until he puked it up in my bedroom. I think I should give him the antibiotic after he eats since it probably upset his stomach.

From late yesterday, Julie, I hope you get electricity back soon! Holy crap, that sucks. And Cathy, I'm on the next flight out for dinner. Then I'll head to Tracy's to liven up her party.

    Jackie, enjoy your lunch today!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Boxing Day, Happy Kwanzaa, and have a Good Wednesday to all  (I probably missed someone's group preference, for which I humbly apologize.)

You forgot Happy Hump Day. :)

A nap sounds like a good idea Jackie!  I've slept so much this week it's unreal...probably a good 10 hours sleep each night.  School has really been kicking my ass this year (time wise).  From September to mid December Ihad ZERO days off!  Yup, not a single day.  Been working hard to get the awards and scholarships again this year so I can continue on with schooling again next year.  Geodesy kinda hit my average hard but I think I should be OK.  Having all this free time on my hands has me in a stuper....don't really know how or what to do with it.  Is it bad that I've been doing online web courses to break my days up some?

Tina, what's going on with Buddy?  Is he turning you grey?  I sure hope (n prey) it isn't serious.  Sending more thoughts and hugs your way.

I need a good movie to watch today....any suggestions?  I'm a Sci-fi geek so any newer ones in this genre is preferred.

Happy Christmas Eve everyone....give the pups a treat for Uncle Johnny!  :D

Oh...and sorry to hear about the power situation Julie!  I suspect lots of dog cuddles are in order?  Hope they sort it out real soon for you.

    • Gold Top Dog

Johnny, I think Buddy has a UTI. That's what we're treating him for anyway. He's not turning me grey. My DS has the corner on that market. Confused

MerryChristmas eve! It actually doesn't feel much like Christmas today. Maybe it will tomorrow.

I am having a minor meltdown today. The no electricity situation is really stressing me out. I hate hate hate that I am imposing on my friends on Christmas I just don't have any other option with 3 dogs in tow. It is 6 degrees. Must buy a generator!

I'm currently at the hospital waiting on my friend to get her mammogram done. Breast cancer is very prevalent in her family and they found a lump last month. Worried for her :(

Gosh Julie - I am SO sorry to hear about no power -- ugh.  Everyone is just getting slammed this year already.  My mother - who **never** utters "I'm sick of snow"  has already had her fill of it .  Even tho they are literally half an hour from Lake Erie and all the snow "lake effect" dumps on them, they haven't had it like that.

I'm working because I've missed so danged much work this year I'm not taking my typical day off next to Christmas  (nor will I next week).  My boss has been more than patient  and working when I really have nothing pressing just made sense.  I certainly am swamped enough.

This morning it's back to cool - yesterday we had the air on -- it's just plain weird weather where ever you are I think.

    Happy Christmas Eve all --

Jackie, I can relate to your sleep woes . . . probably 2 or 3 times a week I have a night of frequent tossing and turning, yet sleeping SOUNDLY when the darn alarm goes off.  So annoying!

I saw a thing on the news this morning about the problems that arise from lack of sufficient sleep and how your body is still producing the melatonin or whatever it is when you are trying to get out of bed after too few hours of sleep.  But when alarms are going off at 5am or so, we'd have to go to bed at 8 or 9pm to get proper sleep.  That just can't happen when there are other things you've got to do like work, eat, dog care, exercise, housework, etc.

Marty, it's nice to see you!  Sounds like you'll have a busy group at your house.  Having little kids around would make a holiday feel more festive.  Enjoy!

Bummer about Buddy's breakfast "re-appearance," Tina.  I think giving him the meds after eating is a good idea.  I know antibiotics bother my stomach if it's empty when I take them.

Julie, I'm sure your friends are glad they can help you while your power is out.  But, for your peace of mind, I hope the power is restored ASAP!

I'm at work today, but we'll probably have a short day.  Tonight we're having dinner at our neighbors' house (the one who is an amazing cook and surprises us with dinner periodically).  I know it'll be delicious.  They have a wood fireplace and a cozy home with a cute little dog, so we'll have an enjoyable evening.  I feel bad leaving Ruby at home alone, but she wouldn't be calm and cooperative if we brought her with us.

Have a relaxing and peaceful Eve, however you choose to celebrate it!

Add me to the list of those with sleep woes.  This week has been brutal with coughing waking me up, no matter what I do or take.  Last night I didn't cough, but Theo was restless and kept digging in his crate and waking me up.  Sigh.  The lack of sleep is starting to show in my face and all I need is to look older!  Yikes!

I've been busy all day, getting stuff done for tomorrow.  I STILL have wrapping to do....think there are gonna be a LOT of gift bags this year!  But, all the kitchen stuff is done, all the veggies cleaned and cut, the cheese and meats sliced, and tonites dinner is cooking.  So now I can relax, other than wrapping gifts.

Wishing everyone a joyous day, holiday or not.

Good thoughts for your friend Julie and I'm sure the friends keeping you warm won't mind at all. If this isn't a time for that type of caring then I don't know when it would be. (((Hugs)))

I felt super prepared for tonight yesterday. Even worked on sprucing up the front yard. I only needed to clean today but it seems to be taking forever and I'm running out of steam. I mentioned that the whole development sets out luminaries. DH noticed that some were doing it early this morning. After I started prepping 71 bags, yes, 71 bags!!!, I realized they start early because it takes all day. It's not hard. Just fold the tops of the bags down, fill with a little sand and set the candle in there. Try doing that 71 times. It sure is going to look pretty though. Santa will be arriving in the cul de sac via a firetruck in the next 1/2 hour or so, and I want to at least wave and take a picture, so I'd better get my cleaning wrapped up.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and evening. Pray that there's no family melodrama for me please :)

    Happy holidays, all!

Julie, you and the pups are welcome here any time. Cathy, I can't believe you made 71 bags! The school where I did my grad work used to light the main campus walkways with luminarias just before the students left for the break. It was gorgeous. I bet yours are beautiful, too! Johnny, it's good to "see" you!  Good thoughts for Buddy--I hope the meds help quickly. (And, Buddy, no more puking, if possible :-)

I'm off in a bit for an island gathering. Low key and fun with lots of good food.  Most of the wrapping is done, I think!

For all who celebrate Christmas, have a merry celebration! And for everyone, good thoughts and good wishes.

    • Gold Top Dog

Cathy, if you get some photos of your luminary display, please post one.  I bet it'll look gorgeous -- 71 of them!!  It's too wet here to put them out in the yard, the bags would get soggy and/or the candles would blow out from rain or wind.  Sad

    • Gold Top Dog

Kate, I missed your post.  Enjoy the island gathering, and have a Merry Christmas!
