    Tgif! 11-15

Hunting season starts today (for guns that is). (continued below)

My phone should be quiet with most of the guys I work with out hunting.

I have so much to do my head is spinning. I woke up an hour early too and of course couldn't go back to sleep. Hate it when that happens.

I think I'm going to make today jeans day.

BIL got a 6 point buck with his bow last week. Sis is hoping he doesn't get another one, says that if he does IT is going to the butcher shop to be processed....too much work for her!  They too are in MI and sis hates the multiple hunting seasons.

Up bright and early to get the papers today.....why they need to be picked up at 7AM is beyond me, but, the brisk, freezing cold air sure has me wide awake!

TGIF!!!  This has been a very long week.

Julie...take a deep breath, prioritize and try to relax a bit.  Spinning heads are too reminiscent of spooky movies!

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Julie, I woke up early too and couldn't get back to sleep.  Every day is jeans day for me. :)

Coworker is back and already I'm getting annoyed.  lol  He's spent most of his time at the office talking to buddies about deer hunting.  Oh well, I guess it's like women who are shopping types talking about the shoe bargains they found.  Always trying to one up each other. :)

The weather has gone back to mild and sunny.  We'll be in the 70's for the next few days.  Too bad the big rock and roll marathon won't have cooler weather this weekend.  Hopefully the humidity won't be too high.

Temps are warmer in N.W. Arkansas today, we do have rain today but it should be moving out later.

When I am at work I think of all the things I need to do or want to do at home over the weekend.  Then when the weekend come it seems I never get it all accomplished..lol.  It seems like the standard cleaning chores get in the way of my extra stuff.   Deb maybe you could come up with a drink for the day that would allow me to magically get my cleaning done  :)

Deb, send Mr. W to Ginger and then he can swing by my house.  :)

Drink enough and you won't care about the cleaning. Wink

Very controversial in Michigan, today begins hunting season on wolves in 3 areas of the Upper Peninsula. Once hunted to near extinction, wolves are making a comeback and apparently in need of culling. The season runs until December 31st, or 43 wolves are "harvested", whichever comes first. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

OK - here's the deal  . . . . .Mr. W doesn't come cheap.  I'd say he's worth probably 6 Magical Stars an hour.  If you're still interested, let me know.

LOL, Maybe what I need is for you to instruct me on how to get Mr. P to work like Mr. W.  Hmmm let me think I bet your instructions would be more than 6 Magical Stars an hour.   Yea maybe I will do as Tina suggested I'll drink the the Magical Stars and then I wont care about the cleaning.

Drunken housework is right up my alley.  Send him, Deb!  :)

Tina, I'm like you and not sure how I feel about the wolf hunting in MI and elsewhere.  I can see both sides, which always causes extreme internal conflict.  My tendency is to side with those trying to introduce and protect a top predator that we almost exterminated. On BLM land, ranchers are adamant about their desire to eliminate the threat to their cattle.  It makes my head spin and my heart hurt.

Did anyone watch the PBS show on parrots the other night?  I recorded it but haven't watched yet.  A friend called this morning and we were talking about it.  We both feel birds shouldn't be caged and she said after watching this show she feels even stronger about it.  Parrot rescue is as desperate as dog rescue.

I forgot to record the PBS show on parrots and it was on my list of things to do. Maybe I can still find it online.

I too have mixed emotions about the wars on hunting certain animals. If we have to err though, I think we should err on the side of being conservative (less hunting vs. more).

I'm taking a new allergy medicine and didn't sleep well at all last night. I felt like I was zoned out and my body was totally relaxed but I just couldn't slip over the edge to sleep. Not sure if it was the meds or just being awake but it seemed like I had random itches everywhere. I'd scratch my cheek, feel better, try to drift off and I'd feel a tickle on my ear or leg. On and on it went for hours. Needless to say, I'm super tired today. Maybe I kept Shane up because he's been zonked out all morning too.

I ordered a new throw from Pottery Barn and it arrived a few days ago. It was on sale, plus I had a $10 off, but it was still a little more than I'd normally pay but I LOVE it!! I think it's going to be my BFF today :)

I caught a portion of the parrot show on PBS the other night, and it was very good.  I feel so bad for birds like that who live in a cage.  Besides not being able to fly and move like nature intended, they have no social interaction living such solitary lives (unless the have a bird companion, like pairs of parakeets or something).  And with the lifespans birds like parrots have, they're bound to outlive their owners, and often have nowhere to go after the owner's death.

Also on the topic of the welfare of animals, I admit that I'm not educated about all the factors involved on both sides of the issue when it comes to wolves.  I understand that ranchers get upset when they lose cattle to wolves.  But  their reaction is due to the loss of "valuable inventory."  My instinctual, emotional response is, "Hey, there are plenty more cows where they came from if they need to be replaced.  There are NOT plenty more wolves.  Cows weren't endangered, wolves were."  So, I think they should be continued to be protected as much as possible.

We just found out today that our favorite boarding facility closed.  Although we rarely go anywhere overnight together, when we have needed a kennel, this was the ONLY one we'd use.  It was small, immaculate, indoor/outdoor runs with heat and A/C, and the owners lived on the same property (as well as being very experienced dog trainers, one of them also was a vet tech).  We're so upset.  We don't have any vacation plans, but you never know when emergency travel might happen, and we don't know anyone we could trust to stay at the house with Ruby.  She's too much dog for the average person.  Our experienced dog friends have their own full-time jobs and pets to care for; they can't dog and house sit for us.  Sigh.

So glad it's Friday.  No plans tonight, but tomorrow we will have dinner at our neighbors' house, and the guy is a truly gourmet cook.  I cannot wait!

Tracy, you can call me - I'd be okay with dog-sitting pretty Ruby. Never mind that I'm 1000 miles away. I'd love to see Oregon and meet you f2f!

Tracy, that's such a bummer about the boarding place closing.  I don't have any place super close but two of my friends own boarding kennels.  They are a bit of a drive (40 minutes) but not too bad.  I too would gladly stay with Ruby.  Tina and I promise not to trash your place.  lol  Please make sure you stock the booze cabinet.

I know what you're saying, Tracy, concerning cattle not being endangered, and I'd sure rather see a wolf than a cow. lol  But most small ranchers don't make a lot of money.  The average rancher here gets by on a shoestring and losing even one cow is a big loss.  You lose not only that cow but all future calves she would have produced. It takes between 18 months and two years for a calf to reach it's ideal selling weight. That said, there is a program for ranchers that will reimburse them for losses due to wolf predation in areas they've been reintroduced.  The carcass has to show signs that it has been killed by a wolf. I understand there is a lot of argument over this part. It's a complicated relationship between ranchers and wildlife.  I can't condemn them because I know several ranchers and most are good, hard working people who love the land and the wildlife.  They just don't want the wildlife to eat up their cattle or other livestock.  Many people think all ranchers have huge spreads and hundreds if not thousands of cattle but those are not the norm.
