    It's Harvey Wallbanger Day !!! (Or Friday 11/8 Chat - Deb W.)

It's National Harvey Wallbanger Day !!!

The story goes that Harvey was a California surfer in the 1950's and had lost a big surfing contest and had gone to a bar afterwards to drown his sorrows. The bar was owned by the world famous mixologist "Duke" Antone who also created the famous Rusty Nail.

Harvey ordered a special screwdriver, one with Galliano added. Galliano is a vanilla flavored Italian liqueur, yellow in color. The "Duke" mixed him a drink, then another and apparently another. When Harvey got up to leave he was somewhat beyond "tipsy." He banged into a wall. That was the birth of the cocktail recipe now named a "Harvey Wallbanger."

Deb, I couldn't count how many Harvey Wallbangers I drank back in the day.  I haven't had one in years.  I might have to have one tonight for old times sake and in Harvey the surfer's honor. lol

Blue is home! It is my understanding that one rear leg was injured, but nothing is broken. A joint was partially cut, they think by the car's front bumper. He was still in shock last night, but overall it sounds like he's one lucky dog.

    Thanks for asking, Deb.

LMAO!  Loved the Harvey Wallbanger story :) I will take 2 please.

I am so glad it is Friday.  I have a small project I wanted to work on this weekend anxious to get started.  Is it 5:00 yet?

Tina I hope things are ok with Blue.

Glenda, I love how you described not being ancient...lol...I also started with a type writer.  I do find that I catch on to new technology fairly well but then it changes and we start all over again.

Hubby had his annual labs and checkup.  All results were better than last year so we must be doing something right!

    @sharismom
    Blue is home!

Yea for Blue I am sure his family is very thankful.  (Guess I was posting same time as you) Wink

I saw the update on Blue in the other thread -- very good news to start the day!

I learned to type on a manual typewriter, too.  Remember what a PITA it was to use those chalky correction squares, trying to line up the keys to strike the same letter over again in the exact same spot?!  I remember how psyched I was to get an electric typewriter with a correction tape built in!  Sometimes I think it's kind of cool that I've lived long enough to experience low tech AND high tech lifestyles; it makes me really appreciate the conveniences we have now.

I'm glad to hear your DH had a good medical update, Ginger!

I've never had a Harvey Wallbanger.  I'll have to try one!

more house guests arrive tonight . . . DH's niece and her husband.  Just until Monday, so a short visit.

Wow talk about a flashback with the Harvey wallbanger! Haven't had one of those in forever!

I ate a cookie from subway at lunch today and am reminded once again that cookies and I are not a good combo. I don't know if it is all the sugar or shortening or what but cookies make me feel like I have food poisoning ugh! When will I learn?

I have a happy hour celebration for a coworkers wife to ight. She was promoted to a director of a museum here which is quite a big deal. Those jobs are super hard to come by. He used to tease her I guess for her choice of careers because there are so few jobs and the pay is low. Well with this promotion she is now making more than him. We try to run that in as much as we can :p

It's going to be a busy weekend!

Checking in late but wanted to say I'm thrilled to hear that Blue is home and doing okay.

I spent 5 hours peeling off wallpaper backing and I'm not even close to finished. Ugh!!

I've had some wine or I'd go for one of the Harvey Wallbangers. Maybe another night :)
