Holy cow it's Nov 1st chat!

Rainy & windy here. A good day to be home snuggling with Buddy.

Yesterday a co-worker brought his 14 month old daughter in to trick-or-treat. She was absolutely adorable in a bumblebee costume!

Deb, I know you're at training, but wondering if you have your Breeder's Cup picks.

Hope all are safe who were in the worst of the storms and flooding.

Brrrrrr - it is cold this morning. I came home yesterday to find that DH had started a fire in our wood burning stove. It's got a blower on it and before long, the family room was warm and toasty. I wish he'd started one before he left for the gym this morning.

I was surprised by the number of kids that showed up last night and was glad we had a lot of candy on hand. I'd turned out the light and thought we were done at 8:30 and then we had one more show up. It was a wee guy, probably around 3ish. He was petting Shane and saying "hi puppy" and then Shane got excited and barked. The little guy walked away and said to his parents "I hate that puppy". LOL!!

I have a hair appt at today at noon. I must've been thinking about it during the night because I had a dream that my highlights turned out horrible and my stylist was fired. The worst part was that I was going to have to sit through having it redone.

Good thoughts for the folks in Texas affected by the flooding :(

We didn't have very many kids last night.  I was handing out big handfuls to everyone.  One cute little girl pointed to something in the bowl I was holding and asked if she could have "that one". lol  I said sure and gave it to her.  Her older sister told her she was being rude.  I didn't want to interfere with the etiquette lessons so I kept my mouth shut.

Belle was her usual pushy self with the kids.  She always shoves her way to the porch and tries to stick her head in the treat bags.  lol  She had to be banned to her bed.

I sent all the left over candy with DH to take to his office.  I have a tummy ache from eating too many Snickers.

I feel lucky that we didn't get any bad storms or flooding in our area.  Lots of people facing a mess today.  It's always worse when something like this hits in the middle of the night.

    Warm, breezy & stormy here.

We had plenty of kids last night  so only a bit of candy left. Bugsy was very good, for him lol

He was amped up at the outset and let out a yip but from there was fairly manageable. He even did well when some kids rang the doorbell after I had shut down.

I am typing this on my mini-tablet and just had to put my newly purchased reading glasses on. They help but the text is now too large.

I am taking B to the vet to start adequan tomorrow

    Getting old sucks

Not much going on here. I loved the Halloween storied you guys shared. Too cute.

I decided to go back to tracking calories because weight loss has stopped. Well I set up my fitness pal and it is saying to eat 1200 calories per day. Seriously htf does anyone do that? I had an apple and banana for breakfast a chicken ceasar for lunch and a cookie and only have 100 calories left for the day now. Gah! Obviously the salad dressing killed the salad and of course the cookie did too but man! I'm going to have to figure something else out. Doesn't help that I didn't go exercise today I guess but I did every other day this week. anyone that says weight loss is easy needs to jump in a lake ;p

I won a small victory at work yesterday. I feel like I should get a crown to wear for a day. It's an issue that has been plaguing a particular part of our industry for years and years and because of various politics and relationships nobody has ever been able to get changes. Well yesterday I did! At least partially but I will take it. It is a starting point. I feel so proud :)

Well done, Julie!  I think you deserve a crown, too.  That reminds me of a funny motivational speaker I saw on PBS once (her name was Loretta LaRoche, I think).  She said we should do things to give ourselves encouragement while at work, such as shouting, "Ta Da!" after we change the toner on the copy machine, or asking for a round of applause from our office mates when you complete a task.  So put a crown on your head -- it'll make you feel good and give your coworkers a chuckle!

Karen, getting old does suck.  Agree 110%.  For us, and for our pets.

We only had 35 kids last night.  Like Jackie, I sent a big bag of candy with DH to his office.  However, the Snickers headache I had last night wasn't enough to keep me from bringing those extras to MY office!

Tina, we had a tiny bumblebee trick-or-treater last night, too.  The Mom had to carry him up our front stairs.  So cute.  Cathy, your story of the little boy reacting to Shane's bark made me snort!  Ruby was quiet for most of the kids, but towards the end she couldn't control her emotions any longer, and she was roo-rooing and howling at them.  Kids seemed scared, so DH kept telling them, "She's saying Boooo!"  Tongue Tied

Lol Tracy I love it! I did tell my coworkers I needed a crown. They all laughed hehe.  Last year. I bought my boss a cow bell that now hangs from his ceiling. Every year we have to do a certain number of inspections and write reports for them. Nobody likes doing them because there's so little time and so much to do but our office has has has to get them done. So now we each ring the bell when we get a report out the door. It makes the entire dreaded thing a little less painful. :) now that my boss is retiring he is passing the cow bell on to the person who tracks our progress and reports to Washington. So, I agree with that speaker you had! I am going to start doing the tada! Thing haha

I love the cow bell idea!  It's doubly funny because it makes me think of the SNL sketch with Christopher Walken saying, "We need more cowbell!"

When I saw that PBS thing with Loretta LaRoche (many years ago), a couple of my coworkers had seen it, too.  So for a while we went around Ta-Da-ing everything we did.  We also took a bow after we did certain things.  Loretta suggested adding fun to how you moved about the office, to reduce stress.  She said every now and then just twirl as you're walking (you know, like you did as a little girl to make your skirt flare out).  We did that now and then, too -- it was a stressful accounting office, so we were desperate for things to add some fun to the environment!

Julie, if you don't have an actual crown to wear I say have some Crown Royal to toast your success.  Good job!

It's off to the Tiki Bar for me in about two hours.

Tomorrow I see the movie Enders Game.  I promised DH I'd see it with him.  What was I thinking?  lol I'm having lunch with a friend so that will be fun.  I haven't gotten together with her in a long time so I'm looking forward to that.
