    Halloween chitter chat (10-31-13)

So who is passing out candy and who is taking kids around? I am doing neither. I don't want to be tempted to eat candy so I bought none. It's raining cats and dogs here. I have a meeting downtown at a local coffee shop too (have to walk). they have the best coffee ever though! :) Pumpkin spice here I come. Abbie and I passed our article test last night! Yay. One more test to go. Gah forgot But the pp break thing

    Great job!!

I am going to leave the porch light off tonight.  We're in town now, so might get some kids, but, I didn't even think to buy candy and I just don't have the energy to deal tonight.

WAY TO GO RED SOX!!!  Three World Series this century!  Awesome.  Of course I fell asleep before the game ended.  DH recorded the last few innings and some of the post game whoopla for me, bless his heart!  Sooner or later I'll have the time and energy to watch it.  He, of course, was up late, all excited, but once I'm gone, that's pretty much it for me.  Takes way too much to get me up and moving.

So, during all the mess yesterday with the septic tank, the guy is laying on his belly in the grass, digging with a little hand trowel, and I ended up selling him an annual contract for a quarter page color ad every week!  Not a bad use of my time!  Did I mention that during this time it was a cold rain?  I had talked to the man before for the old paper, and when I got his email setting things up, I recognized his name and mentioned that we'd talked before.  I opened the door and he walked right through it, which isn't a bad thing!

Off to work. Hoping everyone has a happy Halloween, and a safe and peaceful one!

Ditto. I officially go into Scrooge mode beginning October 1st.

Also raining here, typical for Halloween.

    Good job Abbie!

Not much else. Under pressure to complete work at warp speed, so better get cracking.

We've got candy to pass out, if any kids show up. Some years we have a lot of kids and some years none or very few.  We may be the ones passed out from eating candy. :)

It's raining cats and dogs here too.  Some areas a little North of us got 13" overnight. Not that much here.  We're expecting a freight delivery of some humongous units at a power plant today.  The driver called and said he's dealing with heavy traffic due to accidents on the highway.  I hope he makes it safely.  I would hate to be a truck driver.

The plan is that we are taking the kids Trick or Treating (and Dusty, who is going to be a hot dog :D )  But there is a chance of rain.  I am really hoping it holds off until after the Trick or Treating.  I would probably be as bummed out as Hannah.

DH said he always wanted to hand out candy, so I imagine once Hannah's old enough to go by herself, he'll probably start doing that.  And I'm sure he'll get the good stuff.

The daycare teacher said she was hoping Aaron would have his costume on today b/c she thought it was so cute.  I was afraid he'd puke or get something else on it and not be able to wear it tonight, so he's got a monster shirt on instead.

Tradition at work is that on your birthday you bring donuts.  One of the guys in my group didn't bring anything for his birthday a week or so ago, so he brought a bunch of Halloween donuts/cookies today.  I think he's forgiven ;)

Yum . . . I could go for a Halloween donut or cookie right now!

Yay, Boston!!!  I've got my Red Sox sweatshirt on today.  Glenda, I was thinking of you last night as I watched the game.  I was hoping you were unpacked enough to have a couple chairs and the TV set up so you could enjoy it.  I will say that's one of the few things I like about living out here --- all the live sporting events start so much earlier that falling asleep before they're over isn't an issue.  It was over before 9pm here.  The same thing happens with shows like the Oscars or Emmys -- they start at 4:30 or 5pm, so they're over early.

We'll be passing out candy.  I used to love it when Tonka was alive.  He was so calm at the door and I could handle him and the candy basket all by myself.  He loved all the kids, and most knew him, so it was a love fest all night.  With Ruby, it takes two of us (one handling her, the other handling the candy), and she's rather amped up, so she scares kids who don't know her.  I thought about turning off the lights and pretending we weren't home, but she'll hear the voices and commotion on the street/sidewalk and will be barking at the window anyway, so we may as well enjoy seeing some cute kids in costume to help pass the time!

I just ate a gluttonous-sized bowl of chili for lunch. NOM.

I'll be taking the kidlets trick-or-treating tonight. It's supposed to be raining so I'm not sure how long it will last. :/

They're predicting some rain here, as well.  It's too bad the rain is arriving now, since we've had one of the driest October on record.  But, Oregonians don't let rain stop them from doing much of anything, so we'll still get Trick-or-Treaters, although it may be fewer than usual.

No rain here but I don't know if there will be many kids at this new house. The driveways are so long and the houses spread so far apart that I can't imagine it being much fun for little ones of their parents. We have candy though, so I'm ready. Shane loves little ones but can also be overly exuberant, so we'll see how that goes. At our other house, we had tons of kids show up and I always worried about running out of candy.

I finished up the listening to the taped Board meeting yesterday and thought my head was going to explode. It sounds so much worse when you're not actually there. Some people don't know when to shut up. Anyway, I'm super relieved to have that out of the way.

    • Gold Top Dog

Yes, we're settled enough for me to have watched the game and fall asleep before it ended!  My recliner takes hostages.

The weather is perfect for Halloween, so I expect to see a lot of younguns!  My grandkids are coming over to do their trick or treating in this neighborhood, as they live out in the boonies.  Some years I think everyone does the same!

Yay for the Red Sox!  I'm not really much of a sports fan, but seeing as I grew up in MA, I will make an exception for them!

Painters just came in to start painting these ugly popcorn ceilings of mine.  Not looking forward to the next few days, but it will be nice to have them looking fresh and clean!

After all the rain and flooding north of us the sun is now shining. Lots of people flooded out of their homes in Austin and surrounding areas.  I'm glad we didn't get that much rain here.

Julie, forgot to say congrats on Abbie passing the article test.

I should have gone to the seminar on focus and intentions instead of Deb.  Not that she's focusing on the seminar based on her recent texts. :)
