10-23-13 Wednesday (rolling over the mid-week bump!)

    I FELT THAT today!!  phew!

Technically last week was "Boss's Day" and my Boss has been so slammed it just didn't happen ... So by Official Decree (that means I bought the cake LOL) our Boss's Day is officially TODAY!!

I know in a lot of places Boss's Day is just another paid Hallmark Moment, but working in a legal environment where it often gets really tense and IN-tense it's always smart to drop back and make a point to acknowledge things like a boss who is more than decent or someone's birthday

My Mom was bummed last nite that snow's on it's way to western NY -- I can imagine it's heading for some of you as well.  When I was a kid I **HATED** it when it snowed before Halloween because sure as anything my Mom would make me wear a stupid coat with my costume and as far as I was concerned that would just wreck the whole impression!!

I think any excuse to have cake is a good holiday :)

When do we change our clocks? I won't like it but I also don't like how dark it is in the morning. Shane and I both wanted to stay in bed this morning and I hate letting him out to pee when it's too dark to see anything.

I took the plunge and changed our medical plan to one of those HSA type plans. I always grapple with making important decisions like that and more so if it involves others (DH). Hopefully we'll find it was a good idea and if not, we can switch back in a year.

The forum seems quieter than usual and that's saying a lot. Hope everyone is doing okay and just busy.

    November 3rd.

Busy here. I'm starting to wind down. Must.last.one.more.hour. Sleep

We had snow pellets falling from the sky earlier. They didn't stick, but still...Crying

DH just sent me a message, he said we're going to have to turn the heat on :(  This sucks b/c this time last year I was hoping we would have moved by now.  But the bathroom redo STILL isn't done (I won't even get into it, but I'm not happy) so we need to finish that before we do the couple other things that I think need done before we list the place.  I am worried about being able to sell.  Anyways, our furnace is ANCIENT.  I am trying to convince DH that we should add insulation and get a new furnace.  I think that the savings of an efficient furnace + less waste from poor insulation would make it not hurt so bad.  Plus, while they might not make it easier to sell, it sure wouldn't hurt.  But I haven't won on this point in 3 years, so I'm not holding my breath.

Wow, didn't plan on that mini rant, but there it is.

    Anyways, enjoy your cake Callie.

    Tina, I'd like a nap too :)

Tina -- salt melts snow so crying did some good?  I can send you the job listings from down here if that helps?  No horse tracks - just greyhound tho.

Yes -- I'm still on a sugar high from lunch I think

Steph - I get it -- not fun, but I DO get it.  But if work is dicey maybe it's not a good time to think of expense??  (trying to think like Chad ...)

I've had a busy week at work and distractions away from the computer at home in the evenings.  I had to go back and catch up on things I missed for the past couple days.

I'm sorry I missed the chance to post in the "photo-themed thread" for National Nut Day yesterday.  Loved your "selfie" pic, Deb.  Apparently, Tina and I could be twins, based on her photo.  Wink  Steph, your photo was cute!

Cathy, I'm also really sorry that your husband failed his exam.  What a disappointment for him (and for you).  Does the fact that he passed that earlier written exam stay in effect indefinitely, and he can just take that technical part over again?

You know how much I complain about our endless dreary, gloomy weather all winter, so I feel I should be shouting from the rooftops these days.  We are having one of the driest Octobers on record here -- well into our 2nd week of sun and temps close to (or beyond) 70.  It's much colder at night, and going to work in the AM requires some layering, but by afternoon, you can almost be in short sleeves if you stay in the sunny areas of the yard.  And no weather changes expected for several more days.

I'm craving something sweet and there's nothing here in my office.  Callie, would you please beam me over a piece of that cake?

    Groovy!

Oh Callie, there are several horse tracks in Florida, maybe not real close to you, but they're there. I imagine betting on the dogs is similar, so I could be versatile in a pinch. Wink

Cathy, I forgot to say that I'm sorry that your DH did not pass his test. What a drag. Huh?

Whew.  Been a day in a week full of insanely busy days.

    I need a drink!

Tina -- parts of Florida are INSANELY horsey -- up near Gainesville primarily, and then a lot of very expensive equestrian centers in Central up thru North FL.

There's a Greyhound park literally 5 minutes from my house ... I was actually halfway serious, but if I can provide info let me know.

That's sorta how I wound up down here back in 1980 -- I went out on a February morning and shoveled 2 1/2 feet of "partly cloudy" off my thirty foot driveway at 3:30 a.m. (I had to be to work at 4:45 a.m.) .... got TO my car and it wouldn't start because it was so frigging cold.

I went storming upstairs to my roommate (my best friend who stills lives amongst the Frozen Chosen To Remain) and told her that was IT!! I was OUTA here.  And that fall I went back to college (in Florida) and I've been here ever since LOL

You can exit the state for a hurricane.  But it's danged hard to avoid snow.  But I DO feel your pain trust me.  It may be hot as heck here but I can turn on my air.  (I know Glenda -- you can't stand it .. but I grew up hating snow LOL).
