    What no Monday Chat?

No Monday chat and no Sunday chat, I miss them so much.

    • Gold Top Dog

Looks like you started Monday chat. :)

Nothing much going on around here this morning other than it's Monday.

I am so glad I shut my cell phone off last night. Apparently nobody knows we are shut down today (yes I know, this shouldn't be a holiday). I woke up at 8 with 2 voice mails from this morning. That means they called before 8. I would not beena happy camper had I not turned my phone off ;p I am also happy that caller ID was invented because I have been screening other work calls since I turned my phone back on. Caller ID -  best invention ever.

We are having such gorgeous weather.

A friend and I saw Argo this weekend. What a great movie!

Netflix added the last season of walking dead. I still can't believe I watch that show but Yay! Zombie marathon tonight!

    • Gold Top Dog

I've never seen Walking Dead.  I keep hoping the zombie craze will end. lol  I want to see Argo but keep forgetting about it.  Thanks for reminding me.  We saw Captain Phillips Saturday.  A great performance by Tom Hanks. I wouldn't respond to work stuff either, Julie, unless it was a true emergency not just some workaholics idea of an emergency. Enjoy your day off.  DH is off today too.

You will like Argo. Lots of suspense but not so much that it is unbelievable . I loved the acting and wow did they ever do a great job with the costumes and sets! Everything was so authentic for the time period and the casting was right on the money. The actors looked exactly like the people they were playing (if you watch the credits they show actual photos from the time and events. The director put a lot into making things as real as possible.  It also drove home that a) we won the lottery being born in America, b) there are a lot of people that hate America, c) there are a lot of crazy fanatics out there and finally not much has changed in that region.

Walking dead lol seriously you should watch the first episode. I can't tell you whyI like it. It has nothing to do with the zombie thing and more to do with the end of the world stuff that goes on with people and relationships. It is kind of like that movie the road (I think  that is what iit's called) but with zombies haha

While we still had free HBO, we recorded Argo but still haven't watched it. My friend raves about what a great movie it is.

BBQ was super nice. Food was good, wine was good and the weather was perfect. It got chilly once the sun went down and it's probably the end of outdoor entertaining weather :(. All in all, I felt really good about all the effort I'd put into it. I was exhausted by the time everyone left and swore that I'd do nothing today. We have enough leftovers that I won't have to cook for days :)

Julie - I'm with you on loving caller ID. Love it on my cell and home phone but it does mean I rarely answer my phone these days.

A fly made it's way in yesterday and Shane is beside himself with trying to catch it. We never have flies in the house and when it buzzed him, he looked at me like "what was that???" LOL

    @Jewlieee
Caller ID -  best invention ever.

If I've said it once, I've said it 1,000 times:  Whoever invented Caller ID should get the Nobel Peace Prize.  Not to diminish the work of anyone who has actually won the Prize . . . I'm just saying that it has improved the lives of millions.

DH is often amazed at the messages he'll have on his cell phone when he turns it on at 6AM.  He turns it off by 9 or 10PM (it's a work-issued phone, so he draws the line at being available).  But sometimes customers/associates call between those off hours.  Same goes for weekends.  It's like people expect the business day to be 24/7 now.  How did people succeed in business before cell phones?  It wasn't impossible, despite how some people behave nowadays.

Glad the BBQ went well, Cathy.  Yay for leftovers!  Good luck to Shane catching the fly.  Ruby has caught them in mid-air; she's got some quick jaws!

It was a good day for Boston/New England fans yesterday.  I was sure the Patriots would lose; what a finish!  And a grand slam to wrap up the Sox game . . . I bet Glenda's household really enjoyed their hotdogs last night!  Oh, and it was her husband's BD, too, right?  I bet he thinks the grand slam was the perfect BD gift!

Agreed! There have to be some limits. I never had caller i.d. before my cell, I just let calls go to voice mail. Or even shut off the ringer.

    hey peeps!

woohee I am so behind in EVERYTHING!! I shouldn't be logging in here but my work laptop keeps dropping its connection so I walked away!

Tina I am glad you will take B, he's really good nowadays but he's still big and crazy.

Speaking of, I am dropping him off at a rehab vet tomorrow morning for an evaluation. I am a wreck about leaving him, its terrible but I know he hates being left and I worry about him on slippery floors. BUT I have wanted to have him evaluated by a rehab vet for months so fingers crossed it all goes well. Its WAY out of the way so not sure how realistic it will be to cart him back and forth if that is what she recommends. I'll cross that bridge when I have to I suppose

We remain in drizzly, cool, gray weather. This is certainly the year of blah. I am desperate for sunshine.

I totally understand the stress of not turning your phone on - I can do an email check at 8pm and then log in at 6am and something has changed. I am working hard to keep boundaries

My pay is all screwed up this period - hoping it gets sorted out soon, sigh.

Hmm water heater.............I want to replace ours before a disaster. I need to research that

    • Gold Top Dog

Karen, just call my DH about water heaters.  He's now an expert. Wink

Good luck with the rehab consult for B.

The curse of the hotdog may just have been broken.  DH's birthday was yesterday, so he had to have his lasagna, and I refrained from putting a hot dog on top of it.  Since they won, hotdogs will be a little less mandatory, but he has already been advised that I'm NOT feeding him homemade lasagna every blasted night of the playoffs!  At least hopefully we can move a little bit away from "traditional" ballpark food though.  Man, I really get tired of hotdogs!

Please keep the fingers crossed.  We got a call on the house in town that we REALLY want.  Looks like we are going to get it.  The kitchen is a REAL kitchen and not a tiny little galley like I have now.  I could do some SERIOUS damage in a kitchen like that!

Cathy, I have lasagna in the freezer.  Trade you for some leftovers?

    • Gold Top Dog

I've helped replace a couple of water heaters and of all the DIY projects, I'd say it's on the easier list.

That Red Sox come back was amazing. We'd just wrapped up the bbq and I saw the score and thought it was over for them. I'm glad I didn't turn the channel or stop watching. That was amazing. I don't really care about either team but it was still fun to see that grand slam.

DH arranged for someone to come measure our windows for blinds tomorrow. We'd been procrastinating about it since we moved in but apparently Lowes has a deal he couldn't pass up. Part of me is excited and part of me is worried about the cost. Guess we'll find out and can always do one window at a time, right?

    • Gold Top Dog

Ah, thanks guys, miss your chat when it isn't here.  Glenda, fingers crossed that you get the house you want.!

    • Gold Top Dog

Cathy, when we moved into this house, we had to get blinds for every window.  We did them a couple at a time because they had to be custom sized and they were bloody expensive, even when buying them at a discount-type store, and not an interior design shop.

Speaking of houses, fingers crossed you get the house in town.  From the sounds of it, you do great work in an alley kitchen, so I can just imagine what kind of meals you'd be serving if you had a "chef's kitchen."  Guess you'll have to host a house-warming dinner for all of us to attend!  And tell your husband that lasagna every night of the playoffs sounds fantastic to me!  :-)

Good luck to Bugsy for his rehab appointment tomorrow!
