    Wed Oct 2 chat

Going to try to start a post with html code for pp breaks. Is it just me or does it feel like so much work posting and reading here? I am trying to stay open minded but it is tough sometimes I think we are on our last hurrah weather wise this week. It's beautiful and I have been able to ride my bike to work. Probably won't be doing that after Fri. I rescheduled abbies teat for Sunday. Nervous! I don't want to fail again

Damn it even html code didn't work. How frustrating

    • Gold Top Dog

My mantra when I get frustrated with the forum....It's still in beta, it's still in beta.

We too are having the really nice weather and I dread seeing it go.  I noticed yesterday that a ton of leaves are already falling.  Ours haven't even started turning, so maybe we won't have to clean them up this year....hopefully we'll be in another house soon.  Fingers are still crossed on two potentials, the one in town, crossed harder!

Have a million things to do today, so best get to it.

wishing everyone a great "hump day"!

    • Gold Top Dog

I don't find it more work to post or read with the new format.  Maybe that's because I only use a PC for this site.  Different maybe but I'm pretty used to the new format.

I can't read or hear the term "hump day" without thinking of that camel.  lol

Warm and humid here.  Where's the cooler weather?

Gabby was limping last night but she seems fine this morning.  Too much flirt pole maybe.

Good luck on Abbie's test on Sunday.

Rex's blood work came back yesterday.  All good on the NSAID panel.  I wasn't really worried but it's nice to get confirmation.

I think that Julie often posts from her phone.  That could be the difference.

I know, as I typed hump day I had visions of the camel romping through the office!  Too darned cute!

I actually find it far less problematic to post now -- I had the *worst* time even logging in on the old format.

Work has just been so insanely busy I haven't had a chance to breathe much less post much.  And it's report week so it's not going to let up before Friday.  But at least it's predictable.

    ohhhh, caffeine ... need fix!

I need a drink already. Deb?

    That is all.

Well at least today it remembered me from yesterday. :)  that is something. Sitting here waiting for my carpet cleaner to come, hope he is not late.

I need a drink already. Deb?

    Just for you, Tina.

    Honeydew Melon Bellini

    Ingredients:

    • 5 cups of diced honeydew melon, about ½ of a large melon
    • 2 tbs lime juice
    • Sugar to taste based on the sweetness of the melon
    • 1 bottle of chilled prosecco, champagne, cava or other sparkling wine

    Preparation:

    1. Combine the diced honeydew melon with the lime juice and sugar in a blender and blend until you obtain a smooth puree.
    2. Strain the puree, chill for at least 30 minutes or until ready to use.
    3. Pour the honeydew melon puree into champagne flutes, no more than half full.
    4. Add the prosecco or other sparkling wine, pouring it gently to avoid making a bubbly mess.
    5. Stir lightly and serve immediately.

    @JackieG
    Where's the cooler weather?

It's out here, Jackie.  Low 40's overnight.  I was glad to have the heat on in the car this morning.  But, at least it's not raining (at the moment -- some due later today).

That drink sounds refreshing.  And such a pretty color!  Speaking of color, there are quite a few trees around here showing some leaf color changes.  It's nothing like New England, however.

I'm still missing some things from the old forum format, but I don't have any real trouble posting.  But like Jackie, I only use a PC.  Once in a while, I use DH's iPad, but I hate typing much on anything but a real keyboard.

Speaking of computer issues, I've got them at work.  There's a security scan that automatically runs periodically on my PC, and it takes FOREVER.  It also makes everything else you're trying to work on slow down considerably.  Most of the time I cancel/abort it so I can keep working.

When I did that the other day, everything froze and I had to manually turn the PC off with the power button. Ever since then, things are messed up.  Fortunately, my main software programs work so I can meet my deadlines this week, but the graphics and appearance of my task bar, Outlook, things on Internet Explorer, etc. are totally wacky.  Weird colors, weird size fonts/text, missing images.  You should see what this forum looks like.  For example, I'm on the rich format posting area, but all I can see of the icons in the menu heading line is one smiley and something that looks like a red/white round life preserver.  The rest is all blank.  And no IT help until Friday, so I get to enjoy this all week.  Ugh.

I haven't had any trouble posting either. Still, the forum is still quieter than usual.

Our weather is amazing right now and I'm having a hard time being at work. There's so much I'd rather be doing outside at home. We're hosting a BD bbq for my MIL and SIL weekend after this one coming up. I so hope the weather stays nice until then.

I am sleepy today and would love to just curl up and take a nap. I'm having lunch with a friend, so at least I've got that to look forward to.

Boss was here yesterday and we looked at a larger office in the building next door. I loved it but he wants his deputy to see/approve it before we commit to anything. I don't relish the idea of moving again but we've definitely outgrown this space.

    This direction made me giggle.

    waving hi!

I just don't have time and find it a PIA to constantly log in. If the log in stayed I would like come by more often

Julie at least for replies I think - if you hit rich formatting the paragraphs work - I will try to remember to test it later with a nonsense post.

I am having oodles of computing issues - for those of you who 'love' old technology like Win XP - please take it. Have it. My work laptop is XP and Office 07. Its sucks. Really really stinks

My home computer was having problems with Outlook - that I caused so no cursing the software in this case. I've spent hours trying to get it back to the way I like it :(

good news about Rex's blood work.

I have no idea what else is happening

Bugsy caught a possum the other morning - he'd been hunting it for a week. One day we were out there and I could hear something and assumed it was a possum. Anyway he 'took care of it'. I mention this because as I was taking it from him I noticed that his upper canine has worn a spot into his lower canine. I've known that the point of the upper tooth hit into the lower tooth for years and presumed at some point it may become a problem but was surprised at how worn it is. Ah well he shows no sign of pain so I'll take him to the vet as soon as I have some time to do so.

Mom's visit is going OK. She looks like hell. Gained quite a bit of weight and refuses to see it as part of why her one knee is hurting. I am fairly intolerant of things like this. I mean if you are in your 70's you can expect to have aches and pains - not all need to be checked with MRI's etc. And take some darn responsibility and lose weight. Bah humbug. I know you are all yelling at me - my lack of time for anything but work makes me less tolerant of stupidity. Get to the point and move on. Take personal responsibility and stop complaining. As I close in on 50 I can assure you there aren't too many days something doesn't hurt.

In fact the elbow tendonitis I have had for months is worse than ever. I do know the things that aggravate it but they are unavoidable things so I deal with it. Besides I read an article that said it typically takes 7-8 months to heal - I presume that is without constant aggravation LOL

    OK what else?

That's about it. DH still hasn't picked up the ball as well as I would have hoped.  I took mom to the beach for a quick overnight on Sunday. It was stunning.

Work remains insane. I really can't understand why they have no organizational skills, but I can tell you they don't. Makes life so much more rushed and nuts than it needs to be

OK hope to check back in soon

This part of the drink recipe made me cry:  "chill for at least 30 minutes or until ready to use."  Ready to use would be more like 30 seconds for me. :)

Bubbly mess describes me after I've had a few drinks. lol

Tracy, that's crazy about the computer problem you're having.  Are you sure you didn't drink ten of those drinks? lol   The only think I know to do for major computer problems is reboot and if that fails I call DH.  Not being able to schedule security scans and updates during idle times is ridiculous.

Cathy, maybe I missed an update but how is your DH's fingers that he chewed up with the chain saw?

I messed up and thought some of our current contracts had ended last month.  I found out today that they didn't because of some extensions.  Glad I found out early in the month or we would have been scrambling to get them done if I'd found out too late.
