That said, I just made my final payment on my car!  What a nice feeling that is!  So I'm thinking about applying that money to my house payment...well, maybe after Christmas...maybe.  

Got a string of rain and storms coming through, and we do need it.  Rained all summer long, but the last few weeks have been dry.  

Got a notice from the water company that there has been a high level of thallium in our water supply.  Lovely, I sip on water all day long!  It's not high enough to be an emergency for most people, but sheesh, they test it all the time!  

Marty, that's great to get your car paid off!  I love that feeling. :)

We had some nice rain yesterday but not as much as predicted.  It has been very nice lately with showers here and there and everything green and lovely.  Butterflies and hummingbirds are loving the flowers.  It's been cool and breezy today with blue skies. Absolutely gorgeous and it feels like Fall is really on the way.

Today has been busy but in a good way. I didn't get to spend as much time at the shelter event as I wanted but they had a great turnout.  We made a quick trip to the farmers market.  Ten Thousand Villages opened a store near there.  I'd never been in one and loved looking around.  

We're off to a birthday party in a little while.  The birthday girl (OK, she's turning 50, but birthday woman sounds weird) requested no gifts but asked everyone to donate a book to be given to a home for girls that her church supports.  I thought that was a great idea.  I bought To Kill A Mockingbird to donate.  One of my all time favorite books.

Vivian, hang in there . . . It gets a wee bit easier each time you log in.  I'm not loving the new format either, but I feel less frustrated than I did the first 2 or 3 weeks.  I hope you stay around!

Marty, not having a car payment is the best.  My car is showing it's age, and when it needs a repair, DH says, "You need a new car."  I say "No I don't; a few hundred bucks in repairs per year is way cheaper than a car payment every month!"

Jackie, I love that book donation idea!  After a certain age, we usually have most of what we need, so it's a nice substitute for the usual birthday gifts.

We went to the farmers market today, too.  Many vendors are gone for the season, but we still got lots of tasty stuff:  kale, beets, celery, and garlic.  Got Ruby some veggie dog biscuits, too!

We're going out to dinner tonight for our anniversary.  My Mom is treating and said to pick a favorite place.  I have a feeling she won't like what's on the menu, but we love the place we're going.  Oh well  -  we can stop and get a burger for her on the way home if she's hungry!

Yay for no car payments!

I scored a  really nice Blazer for work at the 2nd hand store today and a winter jacket with original tags still on them. I am not usually a 2nd hand store person but I went there to get the dogs some new stuff is and while there poked around. I was surprised. The winter coat was $7 and Blazer was $4. Gotta like that! The dogs are happy with their 30 cent toys too :)

We have another search tomorrow. That's 3 searches in a week. Crazy. This search is in a very remote wilderness. Chances of finding the person are slim but it will help the family so what the heck. It might seem silly but I am taking my bear spray. It is not too far from where a girl was recently attacked by a black bear. And this is a high bear population area. Better safe then sorry when you are bush wacking through the wilderness Imo!
